What If? Wed. Sketch Challenge at Repeat Impressions

It's time for another fun sketch challenge at The House that Stamps Built and we are challenging you to make a card using the sketch below and link it up for a chance at some great Repeat Impressions rubber! For all the details on what you can win and to see the other Rock Stars cards using this sketch, please visit our blog.

For my card, I stamped Repeat Impression’s Ornament Frame on blue and cut it out. I stamped the Snowflakes with Versamark and then overstamped the lovely sentiment. I embossed the white background with an embossing folder from Stampin’ up and a technique I learned about here. The photo does not show it well, but the embossed snowflakes are all sparkly.

Here is the sketch for you to follow when you create a card for our challenge. You do not need to use Repeat Impressions stamps to enter our challenges, but you get an extra chance to win if you do!

I am entering this card in the challenge at House of Gilli to use embossing in our cards.

Digi Stamps 4 Joy and Paper Pretties Challenges

Masculine is the theme this week at Digi Stamps 4 Joy and Paper Pretties and I am sharing this card I made with some stamps I won from Kitchen Sink Stamps. Isn't that squirrel life like? And the acorns look so real! The leaf was a little off but still looks good- all the stamps shown are from a set by Kitchen Sink Stamps where you stamp a series of colors and stamps to achieve a life like look. Nuts and squirrels make me think of guys - kinda nutty and squirrelly - right? I used a masculine dp for the main card base and the little card on the front opens up for a message:

Easel Card for Make and Take at Weston Lanes

This is an easel card I designed using Tim Holtz's  embossing diffusers and my favorite embossing folder for a make and take this Saturday from 10-12 at the Stamp Show at Weston Lanes in Schofield WI. If you are local to central Wisconsin, please stop by my table and say hello when you are at the Stamp Show.

I started with some fun dp from Bo Bunny which I embossed with the Hexagon Illusion embossing folder by Craft Concepts and the circle Embossing Diffuser by Tim Holtz Alterations. I sponged on green distress ink to highlight the embossing. The stamp in the center is by Printworks and I highlighted the candy stripes with a Spica pen.

The front of the red card folds down to form the easel and it is held up with a row of punched snowflakes (Martha Stewart) popped up with pop dots and decorated with red gems. If you cannot make it to stamp show (but are local), all the supplies for this card are available at The Stamp Shoppe in Weston, WI.

I am entering this card in the challenge at Bearly Mine for easel cards.

Holiday Humor Cards from Crackerbox Palace!

It's another Crackerbox Palace Thursday and today I am sharing some humorous holiday cards I made with stamps that are available from Crackerbox Palace. You can win your choice of the stamps featured on one of these cards by leaving a comment at either blog. The simple requirements for a chance at winning are below.
But first- the winner of last week’s blog candy of the stamps featured on one of the cards last Thursday is                                                     Jane Luxem!  Here is her winning comment from the CBP blog:  “Very pretty cards!
Jane, please send me or Crackerbox Palace your address and your choice of which stamps you want, so we can get you the stamps you have won.  And remember you can win another CBP stamp of your choice simply by posting a card you made with the stamps you won to your blog or Splitcoast Stampers gallery and sending us a link.
My cards today are humorous holiday cards. I love to use humor when I make cards and Crackerbox Palace has so many funny funny stamps. I combined several CBP stamps on my first card to make a swing card sure to crack up the person who receives it. Santa is stuck in the chimney and you can check off if you have been naughty or nice. Then you flip the card open to see the punch line inside:

I added some snowflakes and the red “brick” on the sides are made with an embossing folder from Sizzix.

My second card features a very cool reindeer and the perfect sentiment. I made the ornament shaped card with a circle nestabilities die and just drew the top of the ornament shape by hand. I admit the original idea came from Pinterest, but there was not a template so I just made my own. I paper pieced the cool reindeer, then cut out the shape by hand.
So would you like to win the stamps featured on one of today’s cards? Here is how to win our every other week blog candy:

1.) We have decided that becoming a follower on both blogs is going to be something we would prefer you do but not a requirement.  My blog is here and the Crackerbox Palace blog is here.

2.) Leave a comment on either my blog or the Crackerbox Palace blog on the Thursday blogpost featuring CBP stamps.  If you leave a comment on BOTH blogs, you will be entered twice in the drawing.   The deadline to leave a comment will be the Wednesday two weeks after I post at Noon CST. Mr. Random will pick a winner from the comments and he or she will win the featured stamp(s). You must send me (khasheck@gmail.com) or Crackerbox Palace (crackerbox@crackerboxstamps.com)  an email with your home address so the stamps can be mailed to you. If we do not hear from you within two weeks after we announce your win, and we can’t reach you through a blog, your prize will be forfeited.  And if you post a card to your blog or to Splitcoast Stampers with the stamps you won and send a link to Crackerbox Palace, you will win another Crackerbox Palace stamp of your choice!!

I am entering these cards in the challenges at CreativeCard Crew for Fancy Folds and at Cupcake Craft Challenge for Paper Piecing.

Designer's Choice Challenge at Repeat Impressions

It’s another Designer’s Choice Challenge at The House that Stamps Built, Repeat Impression’s blog. It’s Joyce’s turn and she is challenging us to make something other than a card. You can then enter it for a chance to win some awesome Repeat Impressions rubber! Please visit the blog for all the details and to see the other Rock Star's cards for this DCC challenge.

For my project, I decided to try to make a paper purse and found a tutorial here on Pinterest. I followed the tutorial and made the purse bottom and stamped Happy Birthday all over the front. The top was created with a nesties ornamental square and I stamped a perfect sentiment from Repeat Impressions on it. Belle the Bear is one of my favorite stamps from Repeat Impressions and she was stamped on brown and her outfit was paper pieced and also embossed.

This is what the inside of the purse looks like:

Early Holiday Wishes 4 Kids at SAS4Kids!

It’s time for another fun challenge at Send a Smile 4 Kids and this time our theme is Early Holiday Wishes 4 Kids! Yes it is time to start making and sending in your cards for our kids so that every child in our 8 children’s hospitals over the holidays gets a card. And if we have enough, maybe they could also send out or give a card to a loved one they are missing or a teacher or a healthcare worker they want to thank. We can put a lot of smiles on a lot of faces with the cards you send in! You are not required to send in your cards to enter our challenge, but our kids sure hope you do!

We have two very generous sponsors this week: Bugaboo is giving their winner 7 digis of their choice! And The Cutting Cafe’ is giving their randomly picked winner 3 sets of digis or cutting files!  TEAM S.A.S will also be choosing their favorite cards for our top three and the winners will receive a blog badge and an opportunity to be a guest design team member on a future challenge. For all the details and to see the awesome cards by the design team, please visit the blog here

My first card above features several digital files from The Cutting Cafe'. I printed the holiday Merry and Bright Christmas balls on velum, colored from the back and layered over the Christmas words background.

My second card features a darling holiday turtle from Bugaboo. Since he is bringing a present, I decided to make that the theme for my card. I punched a presents border (Martha Stewart) and added a sentiment from CTMH and sticker letters. The inside shown below is a presents created with just a few snips of the scissors that I learned to do here. You could decorate each "present" with different designers papers but I chose to keep it CAS by just adding a strip of red like a ribbon on each present. I also embossed the front and inside with embossing folders of course.

I am entering these cards in the challenges at ABC Christmas (Anything Goes) and The Perfect Sentiment for Christmas Critters.

Floral Feminine Cards and More Blog Candy!

It's Crackerbox Palace Thursday and today I am sharing some floral cards I made with stamps that are available from Crackerbox Palace. You can win your choice of the stamps featured on one of these cards by leaving a comment at either blog. The simple requirements for a chance at winning this week’s blog candy are below.
But first- the winner of last week’s blog candy of the stamps featured on one of the cards last Thursday is                                                     Paleopal!  Here is her winning comment from the CBP blog:  “As always, Crackerbox Palace stamps rock!
A note regarding commenting and winning- Mr. Random picks the winners and lately we have had many repeat winners. That’s OK, but it would be great if we had more commenters and different winners. It is so easy to win these great stamps- just leave a comment at either blog. So if you follow or subscribe to my blog, take a second and leave a comment.
Paleopal, please send me or Crackerbox Palace your address and your choice of which stamps you want, so we can get you the stamps you have won.  And remember you can win another CBP stamp of your choice simply by posting a card you made with the stamps you won to your blog or Splitcoast Stampers gallery and sending us a link.
My cards today are floral cards good for the females in our lives. Both of them feature a technique called Reinker Float Technique that I learned about here. Check out the tutorial for all the details, but basically you emboss the open image with white embossing powder on a shimmer paper, then wet and float dye reinker inks to color. The first card above features the lovely rose from CBP and I directed the ink more deliberately to color with pinks and purples and green. The card itself was made with a stencil from Balzar Designs and pink distress ink.

My second card uses the same technique and another lovely open flower from Crackerbox Palace. I love the sentiment too and have used it so many times. A TIP that I have for you today is to not waste any of the lovely colors used to make the Reinker Float background, but to punch a couple colorful butterflies to complete the card. The border punch is by ek success and the butterfly punch is from Martha Stewart.
So would you like to win the stamps featured on one of today’s cards? Here is how to win our weekly blog candy:

1.) We have decided that becoming a follower on both blogs is going to be something we would prefer you do but not a requirement.  My blog is here and the Crackerbox Palace blog is here.

2.) Leave a comment on either my blog or the Crackerbox Palace blog on the Thursday blogpost featuring CBP stamps.  If you leave a comment on BOTH blogs, you will be entered twice in the drawing.   The deadline to leave a comment will be the following Wednesday at Noon CST.

I am entering these cards in the Anything Goes challenge at Bearly Mine and the challenge at Top Tip Tuesday for Things with Wings.

The front of the card is cut off at the bottom so you can see the dp on the inside with a row of leaves punched out (ek success.)

Bettina- please contact me at khasheck at gmail dot com and I will put you in touch with Scrapping Memories to claim your prize!

Spark Your Creativity, Cute Card Thursday and Divas by Design Challenges

Anything Goes at Spark Your Creativity Now and Divas by Design this week and at Cute Card Thursday they want to see our paper piecing. I love to paper piece but on this card I did both paper piecing and paper piercing! The gorgeous rose and the poked patterns are from a digital set by Fred She Said. I love the look that patterned paper piecing gives and Fred She Said has many digital files you can buy with different patterns to poke to create this lovely look. I paper pieced the rose and the leaves after printing on a white card stock diamond shape. Then I poked each corner pattern with a needle. CAS but lovely I think- do you agree?

Simon Says Stamp and Stampalot Challenges

Punches and Dies are the themes at the both Simon Says Stamp and Stampalot Challenges this week. I love me my punches and dies sometimes even more than my stamps! I used both to make this candy holder and to be honest, I gave this one away so I do not have any measurements to share with you. I know I scored a pocket when the candy goes and punched a circle hole so you could see the M&Ms decorated with a pumpkin die. The fence is a Martha Stewart border punch and I added a ghost and bat with googly eyes to complete the candy holder.

Cuttlebug Spot and Creative Inspirations Challenges

Anything Goes this week at Creative Inspirations and Cuttlebug Spot wants us to use "What's On Your Desk." I just got this set from Stampin' Up and it was out on my desk to remind me to use it before it is too late and Halloween is past. I used my Cuttlebug spider web on the orange card and then stamped  the fun Halloween images at different angles in white squares. I layered on purple and then lime green and added the googly eyes for a fun kids card. Since this is my favorite of the Halloween cards I have made this year, I think my grandson is going to get this one:)

Happy Halloween Cards with Stamps You Can Win!

It's Crackerbox Palace Thursday and today I am sharing some fun Halloween cards I made with stamps that are available from Crackerbox Palace. You can win your choice of the stamps featured on one of these cards by leaving a comment at either blog. The simple requirements for a chance at winning this week’s blog candy are below.
But first- the winner of last week’s blog candy of the stamps featured on one of the cards last Thursday is                           Marilyn!  Here is her winning comment from my blog:  “Fabulous and inventive cards Karen, both gorgeous!
Marilyn, please send me or Crackerbox Palace your address and your choice of which stamps you want, so we can get you the stamps you have won.  And remember you can win another CBP stamp of your choice simply by posting a card you made with the stamps you won to your blog or Splitcoast Stampers gallery and sending us a link.
My cards today are Halloween cards for my kids. I love the joke the first one tells – hope it makes you chuckle too. Other than the Happy Halloween on the inside, these stamps could make a funny card for any time of the year. It features “Slimy” and a piece of popcorn and of course the lol sentiment.

My second card could be for an older child or even an adult. I love the tree stamp and it could be used (too) for a lovely non-Halloween card. I created an oval frame with my Nestabilities dies and added a spider and spider web in the corner.
So would you like to win the fun stamps featured on one of today’s cards? Here is how to win our weekly blog candy:

1.) We have decided that becoming a follower on both blogs is going to be something we would prefer you do but not a requirement.  My blog is here and the Crackerbox Palace blog is here.

Designer's Choice Challenge- Mask Something!

It’s another Designer’s Choice Challenge at The House that Stamps Built, Repeat Impression’s blog. It’s Christy’s turn and she is challenging us to make a card using a masking technique. You can then enter it for a chance to win some awesome Repeat Impressions rubber! Please visit the blog for all the details and to see the other Rock Star's cards for this DCC challenge.

For my card I started by masking all but a two inch square on a white card. I sponged the opening with light green ink and stamped Repeat Impression’s Balsam Fir Silhouette stamp several times. After removing the masking, I stamped the Pine Branch and For the Beauty stamps in black for a CAS card. I was itching to add something or layer on another color, but left it with the white space because I love the cards like that I see in Pinterest and on other blogs. What do you think?

I am entering this card in the Anything Goes (with a sentiment) challenge at Sentimental Sundays.

(Edited to add- I meant to schedule this to post Wednesday but hit the wrong date- the DCC challenge starts Wednesday October 10th. But if you are getting my blog posts by email, they are coming a day later with the new subscription service, so you should get this Wednesday anyway.. sorry for any confusion, and remember if you haven't signed up for the new subscription service and want to see my cards every day, enter your email in the box at the right.)

CAS Fridays and Dream Valley Challenges

I am back- had computer problems for a few days so have been unable to blog until now. But thanks to Jordan of Computer Tek I am back up and running! If you are local (Wausau WI area) and need computer help that is reliable and fast and reasonable, check out his website or give him a call.

The challenge this week at CAS Fridays is "For the Girls" and Pink is the color at Dream Valley Challenges- both in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. I love the Reinker Float technique that I learned about on this blogpost and used to make this beautiful rose. I made the card with the largest of my Grand Calibur Labels 4 dies folded with center opening. I held the card shut with a band made of a pretty embossed velum and added a leaf of gems to complete the feminine card.

If you are local to Wausau/Schofield and would like to learn how to make this card and others, I am starting to offer classes in my home teaching techniques and card making. Don't have the Grand Calibur and Grands dies or hundreds of embossing folders, dies, punches and stamps? Come use mine and learn how to make some of the cards I have designed and show here on my blog and have been published nationally with. Send me an email (khasheck at gmail dot com) if you are interested in the details.

Punches and/or Diecuts 4 Kids at SAS4Kids!

It's time for another new challenge here at Send a Smile 4 Kids and this time we are challenging you to make a kids card using punches and/or diecuts. As always we have some great sponsors and prizes you can win in our random drawings. Heather Ellis is giving their random winner 3 digis of their choice! Scrapping Memories' prize is 10 digis or cutting files! And The Paper Shelter's prize is a $20 gift certificate! Plus you could be picked for our Top Three and win a cool blog badge and an opportunity to join us as a guest dt member!

My first card above features a darling fall digital stamp from Scrapping Memories. Isn't she sweet? I used a border punch from Martha Stewart with gold paper under the holes and some leaf diecuts from Nestabilities that I cut and embossed in fall colors.

My second card uses another darling digital stamp this time from Heather Ellis. I paper pieced her dress and her letter and punched some lined colored paper with a Stampin' up border punch. I added a green punched butterfly (Martha Stewart) to complete the card. I would like to say the card was distressed but the truth is my husband dropped some water on it and I didn't notice it until I was editing the picture... But we will just call it distressed in some special way:)

We had such cool images given to the dt I just had to play with all of them:) This sweetie is from The Paper Shelter and I just printed her and cut her out with an oval die. I cut some leaves out of cardboard with my nesties dies and embossed them with my No More Shims thick embossing pad onto Core'dinations paper and then I sanded the leaves. I added a few other leaf punches to complete the fun fall card.

Lovely Lady Cards from Crackerbox Palace That You can WIN!

It's Crackerbox Palace Thursday and today I am sharing some lovely lady cards I made with stamps that are available from Crackerbox Palace. You can win your choice of the stamps featured on one of these cards by leaving a comment at either blog. The simple requirements for a chance at winning this week’s blog candy are below.
But first- the winner of last week’s blog candy of the stamps featured on one of the cards last Thursday is                            Joann Burton!  Here is her winning comment from my blog:  “Hi Karen, I love both of these cards. They are beautiful. joann sassy raggedy
Joann, please send me or Crackerbox Palace your address and your choice of which stamps you want, so we can get you the stamps you have won.  And remember you can win another CBP stamp of your choice simply by posting a card you made with the stamps you won to your blog or Splitcoast Stampers gallery and sending us a link.
My cards today are made with some lovely lady stamps. The first one above is a beautiful Sea Breeze silhouette and I did something different with it. Instead of stamping or embossing in black like I normally would with a silhouette stamp, I embossed in a pink sparkly embossing powder on a white piece of cardstock that I attached in the center of the card. I created a window with a wonky rectangle nestie and embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder around the edge of the front.

My second card features the lovely Lady’s Back stamp and I used my oval diffuser from Tim Holtz to create an unembossed center to stamp her on. The Hexagon Illusion embossing folder is from Craft Concepts and is one of my favorites. I sponged in pink distress ink and layered on a teal card.
So would you like to win the lovely lady stamps featured on one of today’s cards? Here is how to win our weekly blog candy:
1.) We have decided that becoming a follower on both blogs is going to be something we would prefer you do but not a requirement.  My blog is here and the Crackerbox Palace blog is here.

2.) Leave a comment on either my blog or the Crackerbox Palace blog on the Thursday blogpost featuring CBP stamps.  If you leave a comment on BOTH blogs, you will be entered twice in the drawing.   The deadline to leave a comment will be the following Wednesday at Noon CST.

What If? Wed. Sketch Challenge

It's time for another fun sketch challenge at The House that Stamps Built and we are challenging you to make a card using the sketch below and link it up for a chance at some great Repeat Impressions rubber! For all the details on what you can win and to see the other Rock Stars cards using this sketch, please visit our blog.

For my card, I stamped Repeat Impression’s Snow Skating snowman on a blue wavy circle cut with a nestie. I paper pieced the snowman and his hat and scarf. I used designer tape to create a fun background and attached the snowman piece with mounting tape to raise.

Here is the sketch for you to follow when you create a card for our challenge. You do not need to use Repeat Impressions stamps to enter our challenges, but you get an extra chance to win if you do!

I am entering this card in the challenge at Stamp and Create for Winter Wonderland.

Scrapping Memories Halloween Cards

It’s another Scrapping Memories Tuesday here and I am happy to share some fun cards featuring digital stamps from Scrapping Memories and to offer some more blog candy you can win! The simple rules for entering our blog candy contest are below.  But first I am announcing the winner of the blog candy drawing from the comments made on my last Scrapping Memories blog post.

The winner of 5 digital files (cutting or digital stamps) is …………………………Linda ! And her winning comment was: “Karen this is really adorable. I love the image!
Linda- please contact me at khasheck at gmail dot com and I will put you in touch with Scrapping Memories to claim your prize!

My cards today feature Mr. and Mrs. Frankenstein. Aren’t they sweet? I created CAS Halloween cards for two of my kids simply by printing and cutting out these adorable digital images, and then layering them on some Halloween dp and orange baker’s twine.

If you like to color, these images come either uncolored or colored. And if you win you can pick out any 5 digital files you want, so if you are not into Halloween cards for kids, you can pick any other files you like!

I am entering these cards in the challenges at Catch the Bug  for Seasonal or Fall and Just Some Lines challenge to Celebrate Fall.

How can you win the Scrapping Memories blog candy? Every other Tuesday I will post a new card and contest. And each time I show you a project featuring some of their fun digital files, we are going to be offering you a chance to win some blog candy! Just leave a comment below sometime in the next two weeks and you will be entered for a chance to win 5 digital stamps or cutting files from Scrapping Memories!!  If your comment is the winning one picked by Mr. Random AND if you have the Scrapping Memories blog badge on your blog, you will win TWO MORE free digital stamps or cutting files!!  (It is not required to win the blog candy that you have the blog badge on your blog, but you can win more if you do.)

Here is the code for putting the Scrapping Memories’ blog badge on your blog:

I will announce the winner of the blog candy the next time I post (trying for every other Tuesday) and you have two weeks to email me at khasheck at gmail dot com so I can put you in touch with Scrapping Memories to claim your prize.  I will try to contact you to let you know you have won, but if I am unable to reach you through a blog or email, and you do not contact me within the two weeks, your prize will be forfeited.
