Happy Valentine's Day from Crackerbox Palace

It's Crackerbox Palace Thursday and I am sharing three new Valentines I made with great stamps that are available from Crackerbox Palace. I had so much fun with the new Valentine stamps I got recently from CBP, I couldn’t stop at one or two cards. And Valentine’s Day will be here before you know it! You can win your choice of the stamps featured on one of these cards by leaving a comment at either blog. The simple requirements for a chance at winning are below and now you have even more choices of what you can win!
But first- the winner of last Thursday’s blog candy is Leanne!   Here is her winning comment from the CBP blog: “Such beautiful cards! Love the sentiment on the first & the idea of a pull out card.”
Leanne, please email me or Vicky your address and your choice of which stamps you want (see your options below), so we can get you the stamps you have won.
My first card above makes me smile and I hope it makes you smile too. Isn’t the love monkey cute? I colored him up, cut him out and hung him from a clothesline with some heart boxers.

My second card features some kissing giraffes and a perfect sentiment. The front fence piece swings open to reveal the kissing couple on the inside of the card.

My third card shows how you can make a Valentine with a beautiful stamp that some might not think would work for a Valentine or love card. But this one is for my husband who adores our white cat almost as much as he adores me:) I don’t like to color all that much so I used the spotlighting technique and colored just her eyes (green like our cat) and a little around her head, punched that out and attached on a black frame. I stamped, cut, embossed and sponged the Happy Valentine’s Day sentiment with a Spellbinders die.
So would you like to win the stamps featured on one of today’s cards or your choice of another CBP stamp? Here is how to win our weekly blog candy:
Vicky or Karen will post a card or two every Thursday on both blogs. All you need to do is to leave a comment on either blog and if you leave a comment on both blogs you will have a double chance to win. We hope you also want to 'follow' the blogs. The following Wednesday a name will be picked at random and the winner will receive:

The featured stamps that we used in one of the cards that were posted,
OR you can pick out a stamp that is worth up to $10.00 and email us your choice
OR Vicky will email you a coupon code so you can go shopping at
Crackerbox Palace store for your choice of the stamp(s) you would like with a $10.00 coupon.

For a Bonus: if you use the blog candy stamps and post it on your blog, Splitcoast or somewhere else you will be able to choose another free stamp. So make sure you check out one of our blogs on Thursday! The winner will have 2 weeks to contact Karen or Vicky.
So leave us a comment for a chance to win and come back and see us again next week!

I am entering these cards in the Anything Goes challenges at Party time Tuesday and Tuesday Alchemy and the “Hearts Galore” challenge at Bearly Mine Challenges

Designer's Choice Challenge at Repeat Impressions

It’s another Designer’s Choice Challenge at The House that Stamps Built, Repeat Impression’s blog. It’s Joyce’s turn and she is challenging us to use bright colors or vibrant prints on our cards. After you make your card, you can enter it for a chance to win some awesome Repeat Impressions rubber! Please visit the blog for all the details and to see the other Rock Star's cards for this DCC challenge.

For my card, I started with a brightly colored dp that I put on the inside of a white card. The front has an inch cut off from the top and the bottom and is backed with a teal strip. I stamped Repeat Impression’s Cheetah Extreme in black on a neon orange piece and layered that on a black square. The sentiment was stamped on teal and cut out with a lacey circle die from Spellbinders.

I am entering this card in the challenge at Eureka Stamps to use teal or turquoise on our cards.

A Gem of a Challenge and Di's Digis Designs Challenges

Holidays is the theme at A Gem of a Challenge and at Di's Digis Designs they want to see our Winter cards. I have been having fun with Clear Views Transparencies from The Mark-it Place and am sharing a Christmas card I made with a beautiful winter scene and a deer silhouette trio from Memory Box. The embossing folder sentiments are from Cuttlebug.

The Squirrel and the Fox and Brown Sugar Challenges

Valentines is the theme at Brown Sugar this week, and at The Squirrel and the Fox, they want to see something new on our cards. This is a new Clear Views transparency from The Mark-It Place I had not used before and the side punch is new as well. Isn't the puppy sweet? I cut him out with a wonky rectangle from Nestabilities and layered him on another one cut out of red. Both the front and the inside of the white card was punched with the edger punch (the card itself is white, just photographed on black so you can see it.)

Card Makin' Mamas and Delicious Doodles Challenges

CAS is the theme at Card Makin' Mamas and "All you need is Love" is the theme at Delicious Doodles this week. I am sharing a card I made with a Clear View acetate picture from The Mark-it Place. I love the picture with the romantic couple and the splash of color. It was framed with a red piece embossed with some  butterflies. Then I added a few more punched butterflies with gems.

Happy Mail for Grayson and Aydan- Can you help too?

I found out about another way to use our cards to help cheer some little ones and am sharing the information that I copied from Virginia Lu's blog with you.

Just before Thanksgiving, Danielle from Neat and Tangled, heard news that a girl she went to high school with and her family had embarked on an incredibly difficult journey. They had discovered that their sweet little 2 year old boy, Grayson, had a tumor on his brain stem. Since then they have been on a roller coaster ride, and this is only part of the journey. Grayson will begin chemotherapy this month as the next stage of treatment. Through all of this, the family has stayed strong, hopeful, faithful and positive. And Grayson is a strong and spunky fighter :) Grayson's mom, Jackie, has a blog she keeps updated regularly, so you can get to know more about Grayson HERE.

Grayson is super lucky to have a big brother, Aydan, who is 4 so make sure to send some awesome cards to him too! These boys love all things boy :) Rescue Bots, Geotracks, Angry Birds, Thomas the Train. Send these little men funny, happy, cards! We all know how much love goes into a handmade card, and even better how personalized they can be!"
Here is the important info:

The drive will run from January 21 - February 28
(If they arrive late because they are International that's okay too!)
 please send them here:

Grayson Savery and/or Aydan Savery
c/o Danielle Walls
P.O. Box 5808
Wilmington, DE 19808

These are the two cards I made for the boys. The first one I had made previously for my grandson who also loves Angry Birds. If the boys are anything like my grandson, they probably also love super heroes, so I made a Batman card using a punched bat I learned how to make here

I am entering these cards in the Anything Goes challenge at Digi Stamps 4 Joy.

Simon Says Stamp and The Paper Shelter Challenges

Anything Goes at The Paper Shelter this week and at Simon Says Stamp they want to see paper piecing on our card. A little earlier this winter, Elizabeth Dulemba had this sweet winter image with the smiling mittens as a freebie on her webpage, so I snagged it to make a cute winter card for one of my kids. Of course I paper pieced the scarf, hat and mittens with fun dp and attached it to a card front embossed with some snowflakes. The perfect sentiment was also a freebie, this time from Desert Diva.

Blog Candy Thursday from Crackerbox Palace

It’s another Crackerbox Palace Thursday and I am sharing two lovely cards created by Vicky Briggs, the owner of Crackerbox Palace.  Aren’t they fun?  For all the details on how she made them, some more pictures and what CBP stamps she used, please visit her blog here.

Mr. Random has chosen and the winner of last Thursday’s blog candy is                                             Grandmalee!  Here is her winning comment from the CBP blog:  "I'm so happy that I found you through Trenna. I stopped at your store, and I'm definately in love with your stamps! I love all of the inspiration on this blog. Your layouts are great, and you always have the perfect sentiment. Both of these cards are wonderful, but I'm partial to the Cool Beans card. I have many friends that are coffee fiends, so I could get lots of use out of this stamp. It's great how you created the focal point by folding the DP over. The addition of the bean stamp to the flap adds so much more to this awesome card. I'm looking forward to seeing more."

Grandmalee, please send me or Vicky your address and your choice of which stamps you want (see your options above), so we can get you the stamps you have won.
So would you like to win the stamps featured on today’s card or your choice of another CBP stamp? Here is how to win our weekly blog candy:

Vicky or Karen will post a card or two every Thursday on both blogs. All you need to do is to leave a comment on either blog and if you leave a comment on both blogs you will have a double chance to win. We hope you also want to 'follow' the blogs. The following Wednesday a name will be picked at random and the winner will receive:

What if? Wed. Sketch Challenge

It's time for another fun sketch challenge at The House that Stamps Built and we are challenging you to make a card using the sketch below and link it up for a chance at some great Repeat Impressions rubber! For all the details on what you can win and to see the other Rock Stars cards using this sketch, please visit our blog.

For my card, I embossed RI’s beautiful Winter Tree with silver embossing powder on a blue piece that I cut out with a Nestabilities fancy circle die. I cut the pennant shapes out of silver tape and attached to the white card before embossing the whole card with a Tim Holtz embossing folder. Lovely card to warm a cold winter day hopefully- it has not been above 0 degrees here in central Wisconsin for several days. I have not gone outside at all, but have had fun playing and designing in my craft room.

Here is the sketch for you to follow when you create a card for our challenge. You do not need to use Repeat Impressions stamps to enter our challenges, but you get an extra chance to win if you do!

I am entering this card in the Anything Goes challenge at Created with Love.

ColorInk Digital Stamps New Collections

Today I have the pleasure of showing you some CAS cards I designed with the new collections from ColorInk Digital Stamps. Marian has drawn so many fun sweet images for her "Love is in the Air" and "I Robot" collections and I chose three sweet pre-colored images to make some cards that could be used by my kids at SAS4Kids for their mothers for Valentines or Mothers Day. If you know me or follow my blog, you should know two things about me: I am a doting Grandma to a wonderful boy and I do not like to color- so these images are perfect for me to play with. The cards are simple so I won't go into details on each. But they show with a sweet digital image, a little embossing or a fun sketch, you can easily make great cards that  anyone would love to receive. Here are the other two cards I designed with this great collection:

I am entering these cards in the KISS (Keep it Simple Silly) at Totally Gorguss.

Repeat Impressions Stamp of the Week

The stamp of the week this week at Repeat Impressions is this beautiful Large Arched Window, and it is available this week only for 50% off with the discount code found at Repeat Impressions blog. What a deal! Please visit the blog for all the details and to see the other Rock Star's cards using this stamp.

For my card, I decided to make another Chalkboard Technique card as I learned how to make here. I started with a piece of black cardstock and embossed the large arched window with white embossing ink at the top. I also embossed the “Look to this day” saying from the Sanskrit and “Let Your Light Shine” on the sides. I stamped that sentiment a couple more times with white craft ink and drew some lines with a white colored pencil. I added some yellow stars and layered on a yellow card.

This card and its sentiments seem appropriate for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and also the start of President Obama’s second term. Here’s hoping every tomorrow will be a vision of Hope!

I am entering this card in the Embossing challenges at Totally PaperCrafts and  A Gem of a Challenge.

Raisin Boat and Craft Us Crazy Challenges

Love is in the Air at Raisin Boat Challenges and Valentines/Love is the theme this week at Craft Us Crazy too. I had fun making this masculine Valentine with some stamps from Raisin Boat and Repeat Impressions. The tread along the bottom and the "V" are from a very cool set by Raisin Boat called Edgy Accents. The Harley and the words are from Repeat Impressions. I created the hearts "road" with a mask created with a large border punch from Martha Stewart.

Aything Goes at Send a Smile 4 Kids!

It’s Saturday so it must be time for another fun challenge at Send a Smile 4 Kids! This time our challenge is everyone’s favorite- Anything Goes 4 Kids! You can make and link any kind of card as long as it is appropriate for a child. And remember we are a card only challenge- cuz that is what we are all about- cards for our kids!

We have three very generous sponsors this week: Delicious Doodles is giving their winner 4 digis of their choice! And Joan’s Gardens is giving their randomly picked winner a $25 Gift Certificate! Dollar Graphic Depot’s winner will receive a $15 gift certificate!  TEAM S.A.S will also be choosing their favorite cards for our top three and the winners will receive a blog badge and an opportunity to be a guest design team member on a future challenge.

My first card features a super cute Bee and Flower from Delicious Doodles which I paper pieced with several papers. I cut him out with a lacey circle die from Spellbinders, layered it on another yellow lacey circle and wove black and white baker's twine in and out before tying a bow at the top. It is a fun way to frame a CAS image.

My second card features two sweet Skating Kids by Alice Smith for Dollar Graphics Depot. I created an oval skating rink for them with some silver paper and cut the bottom of the card in that shape as well. The sweet images were pre-colored so I just cut them out and attached, then added a perfect sentiment (from Crackerbox Palace) to complete the card for one of our kids.

I am entering these cards in the challenges at Stamp n doodle (Anything Goes) and The Stamping Chef (blue, white and silver.)

Crackerbox Palace Thursday!

It's Crackerbox Palace Thursday and I am sharing two new cards I made with fun stamps that are available from Crackerbox Palace. You can win your choice of the stamps featured on one of these cards by leaving a comment at either blog. The simple requirements for a chance at winning are below and now you have even more choices of what you can win!
But first- the winner of last Thursday’s blog candy is                                               Lynn!   Here is her winning comment from the CBP blog: “Both are fantastic! Love the gate fold card - and the monkey is just darling! Lynn”
Lynn, please email me or Crackerbox Palace your address and your choice of which stamps you want (see your options below), so we can get you the stamps you have won.
My first card above is a winter card for a friend featuring a sweet snowperson by Rena named Isabella (with a heart.) I colored her up and popped her over a background of embossed snowflakes in a framed border cut out with Nestabilities. I stamped the perfect sentiment (also from CBP of course) to complete the square card.

I chuckle every time I see the Cool Beans on my second card today and hope the person who receives this card will chuckle too. Aren’t they fun? I stamped and paper pieced the “cool beans” in a circle and also stamped some not as cool beans on the flap of the two sided dp. This card would work great for a congratulations card for a guy or a teenager or even a birthday card.

Designer's Choice Challenge at Repeat Impressions

It’s another Designer’s Choice Challenge at The House that Stamps Built, Repeat Impression’s blog. It’s Christy’s turn and she is challenging us to make a Slide or Pull Card. After you make your card, you can enter it for a chance to win some awesome Repeat Impressions rubber! Please visit the blog for all the details and to see the other Rock Star's cards for this DCC challenge.

For my card I made an easy pocket card that I learned here.  I like that it has easy folds and no taping or adhesives on the sides- just tie with a ribbon to hold in place. I love the heart parachute image from Repeat Impressions and stamped it and cut it out from patterned pink paper. I cut a hole with my deckle rectangular nesties with the Love Post showing through the hole. Here is how the inside looks when it is pulled out.

I am entering this card in the Anything Goes Challenge at Dream Valley and Favorite Things (Repeat Impressions stamps of course) at Crafting When We Can.

The Squirrel and the Fox and 613 Avenue Create Challenges

Anything Goes at The Squirrel and the Fox and 613 Avenue Create Challenges this week, so I am sharing a sympathy card I made for a challenge at my stamp club recently. I started with some really cool dp from my stash that I just love and stamped a beautiful sentiment from Crackerbox Palace. The oval frame stamp is from Northwoods and I stamped it on white, blue and orange and layered the pieces together to get this look.  So easy but lovely. Then I added a couple tabs and pearls to complete the card.

Stampin' For the Weekend and Card Makin' Mamas Challenges

Anything Goes at the Stampin' For the Weekend and Card Makin' Mamas challenges this week so I am sharing a card I made with a new favorite die cut from Spellbinders. I bought two of the new smaller dies from Spellbinders and I love them both. This one is Medallion One and can be cut totally out (like the purple one) or used without the edge and cut from the center of a piece of cardstock. I did both versions and layered the purple one on top and then I put a different shade of purple under the hole cut with the die. Fun look with just one die. I added some gems and a perfect sentiment from Serendipity to complete the card.

Paper Crafting Journey and MilkCoffee Challenges

Anything Goes at Paper Crafting Journey this week and "New Beginnings" is the theme of MilkCoffee Challenge. The latter is a perfect title for this card because it was the card I made to celebrate my daughter's recent engagement to a wonderful man. It was also the first time I tried the Chalkboard Technique and I am having a lot of fun with it. Easy to do- white embossing on black paper, then add stamping with white craft ink, some white lines and smudges with the white ink. It does remind me of the blackboards we had in school way back when:)

Tuesday Throwdown and Penny's Paper- Crafty Challenges

"Shiny and New" is the challenge this week at Tuesday Throwdown and Anything Goes at Penny's Paper-Crafty.  I am sharing a card I made with new dies from Spellbinders that I just love. The cat-tails are a new Shapeabilites D-Lite die and the layering was done with Spellbinders Resplendent Rectangles which were cut and embossed. I also used a circle mask for the moon and sponged yellow and brown inks behind the cat-tails. I used my new favorite color combo - cream and kraft with a little brown and love the look.

Simon Says Stamp and Crafting for All Seasons Challenges

Black and White and a Splash of Color is the theme at Simon Says Stamp this week and Crafting for all Seasons wants to see "Something New". I am showing a new stamp set and a new technique to me - the Chalkboard Technique. I have had so much fun with this easy and different look, so you will be seeing more of it here on my blog very soon. Here is a link to a tutorial that explains it very well. but basically you start with black cardstock, emboss with white embossing powder the sentiments or images you want to highlight, add more sentiments or images with white craft ink, draw some lines with white colored pencil and smudge with the white ink to look like chalkboard smudges. I added a splash of color with some punched stars and an orange colored pencil. The stamps are all from a new set from Our Craft Lounge and I had to buy it because of the "You're Da Bomb" sentiment and bomb image- just such a fun way to say Thank You!

What If?

For my card, I stamped Santa Cat – but I made him a Packer Cat Snowman instead of a Santa- GO PACK! I did a little coloring, rounded the edges and added some glitter to the snow. I followed the sketch and added some pearls and a sticker line on the grey and black card.

Here is the sketch for you to follow when you create a card for our challenge. You do not need to use Repeat Impressions stamps to enter our challenges, but you get an extra chance to win if you do!

I am entering this card in the Anything Goes challenge at Lexi’s Creations.

How about a laugh for a cold winter day:

Church Fart

This says it all about getting older & the whole aging thing.

An elderly couple, Charlie & Jean, were recently attending church services
in Midland, TX.

About halfway through the service, Charlie took a pen and paper out of his
pocket, wrote a note and handed it to Jean.

The note said:" I just let out a silent fart, what do you think I should do?

Jean scribbled back, "Put a new battery in your hearing aid."

QKR Stampede and Kaboodle Doodles Challenges

Anything Goes at QKR Stampede and Kaboodle Doodles challenges this week so I am sharing a card I made recently after getting inspired by an idea on Pinterest. I used my new Poppy die from Memory Box and created a mask, then sponged with grey for a shadow look. I cut out an aqua blue Poppy to place next to the shadow. The sentiment is an old favorite from CTMH.  The embossing folder is from Tim Holtz (Sizzix) and I distressed the embossed areas with a sanding block.I added a butterfly (Martha Stewart) and some liquid pearls to complete the card.

Repeat Impressions Stamp of the Week

The stamp of the week this week at Repeat Impressions is one of my favorite all time Repeat Impressions stamps, Rebecca, and it is available this week only for 50% off with the discount code found at Repeat Impressions blog. What a deal! Please visit the blog for all the details and to see the other Rock Star's cards using this stamp.

For my card, I stamped Rebecca on some off white paper and cut her out with one of Spellbinders Resplendent Rectangles, then attached her to two more layers of Resplendent Rectangles in kraft and off white, my new favorite color combo. One of the reasons I love Rebecca is she is so fun to paper piece and I chose subdued yellows and orange shades to do that with on this card. I added a perfect sentiment and the card is ready for someone special.

I am entering this card in the Anything Goes challenges at Stampin’ with the Dragon and Crafty Catz.
