A Birthday Present for You! Happy Easter Too!

I don't normally make a big deal out of my birthday, but this year it falls on Easter, and Repeat Impressions has shared a birthday present for you- just click on the birthday present on the side of my blog and you can received 20% off your entire order of Repeat Impression's awesome stamps and products all week long!

I also was spotlighted this weekend on their blog here so if you ever wondered about my family or favorite stamping style or tools, now is your chance to read all about it. 20 seconds of fame, but a fun birthday surprise for me:)

I am sharing a birthday card I designed for the classes I teach in my home. The one they made was a Christmas card, but this was an example of how with different papers, it could become a fun birthday card. I love the sentiment from Printworks- so so true! The sides were punched with an ek success border punch.

The best part of this card was the pop out presents on the inside. Here is the tutorial where I learned how to do this- quite simple actually but fun when you open the card and they pop out.

I am entering this card in the Anything Goes challenge at Creative Corner and the Happy Birthday challenge at Charisma Cardz.

Dutch Dare and Whimsical Designs Challenges

CAS is the style Dutch Dare Card Challenges wants to see this week and at Whimsical Designs they want us to use pastels on our cards. I am sharing a card I made for a member of my stamping classes who is expecting a little girl. I (of course!) got the idea from a Pinterest board and simply used two circle nesties to create the expectant figure. I embossed the front with an embossing folder and added a pink heart button to complete the CAS card.

Simon Says Stamp and The Paper Shelter Challenges

Anything Goes at Simon Says Stamp and The Paper Shelter this week so I can share a fun card I made with my favorite new set of stamps from Mama Elephant. I saw some cards made with this fantastic set and immediately had to go to their site and buy it! I discovered a framing idea on Pinterest somewhere using some patterned papers and layers of black and had fun trying it here. Then I sponged some green and blue and stamped the little boy with his kite and the lovely sentiment from the same Mama Elephant set. Loving how it turned out!

You can win your choice of the stamps featured on one of these cards by leaving a comment at either blog. The simple requirements for a chance at winning are below and now you have even more choices of what you can win!

Helea, please email me or Crackerbox Palace your address and your choice of which stamps you want (see your options below), so we can get you the stamps you have won.
Many of us are watching our weight and reading labels to count calories or points. Crackerbox Palace has a fun nutrition label that is sure to make you smile. I created a CAS card starting with a Stampin’ Up embossing folder and ribbon. Then I added the sentiment “Sweet” and the perfect nutrition label.  I used this for a thank you card, but it could be for any occasion or person. Here it is close up so you can read the “fine print”.

My second card features a funny sentiment and cow from Crackerbox Palace. I repeated the sentiments and highlighted one of them by sponging and raising it with pop dots.
So would you like to win the stamps featured on one of today’s cards or your choice of another CBP stamp? Here is how to win our weekly blog candy:
Vicky or Karen will post a card or two every Thursday on both blogs. All you need to do is to leave a comment on either blog and if you leave a comment on both blogs you will have a double chance to win. We hope you also want to 'follow' the blogs. Spring Flowers DCC at Repeat Impressions

It’s another Designer’s Choice Challenge at The House that Stamps Built, Repeat Impression’s blog. It’s Geri’s turn and she is challenging the team and you to make a card featuring Spring Flowers.  After you make your card, you can enter it for a chance to win some awesome Repeat Impressions rubber! Please visit the blog for all the details and to see the other Rock Star's cards for this DCC challenge.

If only making and posting a spring card would encourage Spring to actually come! We have so much snow here in Wisconsin, it will be a long time before we see daffodils. But my card is full of flowers so it may help cheer Spring along! I started by embossing the kraft card with a flowery embossing folder. I stamped and colored Repeat Impressions lovely daffodils and attached that piece to a yellow dotted dp. I added some yellow baker’s twine and liquid pearls to complete the CAS card.

I am entering this card in the Flowers challenge at Digi Darla’s and the Pastels challenge at Incy Wincy Designs.

Lexi's Creations and Red Carpet Studio Challenges

Red Carpet Studios wants to see flowers on our cards this week, and at Lexi's Creations, their theme is Special Friend Birthday. I used an acrylic stamp from Close to My Heart to shape the sentiment around a flower I created with a new Spellbinders die. The embossing/cutting folder is from Marianne Creatables. I rounded the corners and layered the white front piece on an eggplant colored card and added a gem to complete this feminine card.

Simon Says Stamp and The Squirrel and the Fox Challenges

Easter is the theme at Simon Says Stamp and at The Squirrel and the Fox this week, and I am sharing a card I made again this year because it is just so darn cute. These bunny hinders have been around for awhile, but are very cute and easy to make with just some circle and oval punches or diecuts. The embossing folder and the sentiment are from Stampin' Up.

Sending Birthday Smiles to Wendy

Today is Wendy Wyman's birthday and I want to wish her a very happy birthday and to say Thank You publicly for all she does for me and my design team-mates at Repeat Impression's blog,  The House That Stamps Built. Wendy is the owner of Repeat Impressions and the person who gave me my first design team opportunity. Because she picked me, I get to blog with her great stamps and it also gave me the confidence necessary to pursue other blogging and design team challenges.

I made this card for her and mailed it earlier this week along with other cards featuring Repeat Impressions stamps that she could use in her booths at stamp shows for samples. I love these parachutes from the new set released last summer and have used them over and over. This time I stamped the larger parachute several times on purple dp and cut them out. The first layer was attached to the card, the others attached in the center and lifted to give the dimensional look. The smaller parachutes were paper pieced with green and blue dps. I added some clouds, a ribbon and a wavy sentiment message to complete the card.

Happy Birthday Wendy! Wishing you many more!

I am out of town this weekend stamping and laughing with a bunch of fellow stamping addicts in Madison WI. I will be back Sunday with a special blog post, but in the meantime, am going to leave you with a lol story for all the Grandmas out there:

Baby's First Doctor Visit

A woman and a baby were in the doctor's examining room, waiting for the doctor to come in for the baby's first exam. The doctor arrived, and examined the baby, checked his weight, and being a little concerned, asked if the baby was breast-fed or bottle-fed. 'Breast-fed,' she replied.

'Well, strip down to your waist,' the doctor ordered.

She did. He pinched her nipples, pressed, kneaded, and rubbed both breasts for a while in a very professional and detailed examination.

Motioning to her to get dressed, the doctor said, 'No wonder this baby is underweight. You don't have any milk.'

'I know,' she said, 'I'm his Grandma,

But I'm glad I came.'

What If? Wed. Sketch Challenge

It's time for another fun sketch challenge at The House that Stamps Built and we are challenging you to make a card using the sketch below and link it up for a chance at some great Repeat Impressions rubber! For all the details on what you can win and to see the other Rock Stars cards using this sketch, please visit our blog.

When I looked at this week’s sketch, I saw Easter eggs – guess I have Easter on the brain…I stamped Repeat Impression’s cute duck with an Easter bonnet in the center and paper pieced her and her hat. I stamped the Easter eggs on various spotted dps, cut them out and placed them under the diagonal center piece. I added some Easter egg eyelets and a ribbon and flower to complete this happy Easter card.

Here is the sketch for you to follow when you create a card for our challenge. You do not need to use Repeat Impressions stamps to enter our challenges, but you get an extra chance to win if you do!

I am entering this card in the Easter/ Spring challenge at Raisin Boat and the Spring challenge at The Squirrel and the Fox.

My Core'dinations Creative Frenzy

I had so much fun this weekend designing with Core'dinations papers, various die cuts and punches, and a new "Incredible" stamp set by Technique Tuesday. I am a big fan of Core'dinations cardstock because of its great colors, textured and non-textured options and no white core. I use it all the time and run to JoAnn's Fabric and Crafts Store every time they have a paper sale to stock up.

My first card above started with two pieces of Core'dinations paper from The Chocolate Box Collection. These papers are brown on one side and brightly colored on the other side. I die cut the feathers (Lifestyle Crafts) out of the gold and red sides and embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder. I also cut a feather out of chipboard and left that in the die to emboss the top feather shape.

Here is a picture of the sandwich I used in the Big Shot to create the embossed feather shape. From the bottom up, here is the order you use: 1.) Glass Plate. 2.) Feather die with chipboard. 3.) Core'dinations paper textured brown side up. 4.) "No More Shims" thick embossing mat. 5.) Glass Plate.

I have taken the picture to show each layer in order, but when running it through the Big Shot, each layer would be directly over the next one. "No More Shims" Professional Embossing Mat is a very thick embossing mat made in the U.K. by Once Upon a Stamp and distributed in the U.S.A. by Scor-Pal, and works beautifully for embossing with many products in die cutting machines.

After embossing the feather die into the brown Core'dinations paper, I used a sanding block to sand the shape, resulting in the yellow showing through. I also sanded the edges of the top layer so there was a hint of yellow showing. I stamped the sentiment from Ali Edward's Incredible set by Technique Tuesday, then attached the completed front to a darker brown card made from The Chocolate Box Core'dinations Collection. The baker's twine was added to finish the card.

OK I have to say it- the second card I made this weekend with Core'dinations paper, die cuts and my new stamp set is way cool. I love the color combo from The Black Magic Collection of lime green and very dark brown. I embossed the green card base with another Sizzix embossing folder (this one a Tim Holtz Alterations). Then I cut a rectangle from the dark brown with my Fiskars deckle scissors. The Twiggy Tree die from Memory Box was cut twice, once in the green and once in dark brown. I layered the green tree on the rectangle, trimmed off the edges and then matched up the brown tree to complete the image. The "cool' sentiment is from my new favorite Incredible set by Technique Tuesday.

My last project made this weekend with Core'dinations cardstock features my two favorite fellas- my loving husband and sweet grandson. Grandpa and Nate had so much fun raking together this fall when we watched him for a few days that I just had to pull out my camera and snap some pictures. What better way to remember the good times than to scrapbook them? I started with a beautiful "Core Color" 12 x 12 sheet and framed the main picture with burgandy Core'dinations Foundation textured paper. I used some other shades of the Foundations line to punch the smaller leaves (ek success and Martha Stewart punches) and die cut the larger leaves (Spellbinders.) The words were die cut using Sizzix Sizzlets and more beautiful Core'dinations paper. I added some fun fall alliteration from the same Incredible stamp set by Technique Tuesday.

A handy tip I can share with you: to attach small punched or die cut pieces such as the leaves and the letters, I use Sticky Dots Die-Cut Adhesive by Therm O Web. It is easy to use and sticks great! Way more economical that glue dots and much less messy than glue.

One more picture to share of my favorite Grandpa and grandson close up. Love those smiles!

Thanks for visiting today and viewing my Core'dinations Creative Frenzy. I had fun designing with this great paper and hope you enjoyed the pictures and projects from my weekend of creativity.

Stamp of the Week at Repeat Impressions

The stamp of the week this week at Repeat Impressions is this beautiful Daffodils stamp, and it is available this week only for 50% off with the discount code found at Repeat Impressions blog. What a deal! Please visit the blog for all the details and to see the other Rock Star's cards using this stamp.

Daffodils mean Spring, right? I bought a beautiful yellow bunch for my home to cheer us up, because all the snow here is getting pretty depressing. But this lovely card can remind us that Spring has to be on the way! I simply stamped and colored the beautiful Daffodils, then framed it with an embossed raised layer. The perfect sentiment (from Repeat Impressions of course) completes the CAS card.

I am entering this card in the Bloomin' Spring challenge at Dream It Up and the Anything Goes challenge at One Stop Crafts.

Moving Along with the Times and Happy Campers Challenges

"Spring is in the Air" at Moving Along with the Times, and Happy Camper's theme is "Flutterby Butterfly". Spring is not in the air here in Central Wisconsin- more snow in the forecast:(   But I am trying to think spring and Easter in my card making and I was inspired by a pretty card on Pinterest to make an Easter cross out of butterflies. I punched the cross with a butterfly die from Memory Box and then again in a lighter pink for the layered butterflies. Layered the white on a darker pink and then on a white card, then added the sentiment (SU) and pink pearl to complete the card.

Just had to share a smile with you all today that a friend sent:

Two little old ladies, Connie & Evelyn were sitting on a park bench outside
>the local town hall where a flower show was in progress. The short one,
>Connie, leaned over and said, 'Life is so boring. We never have any fun
>anymore. For $10.00 I'd take my clothes off and streak through that
>stupid, boring flower show!'
>
>'You're on!' said Evelyn, holding up a $10.00 bill.
>
>So Connie slowly fumbled her way out of her clothes and, completely
>naked, streaked (as fast as an old lady can) through the front door of the
>flower show.
>
>Waiting outside, her friend soon heard a huge commotion inside the hall,
>followed by loud applause and shrill whistling. Finally, the smiling
>Connie came through the exit door surrounded by a cheering, clapping crowd.
>
>'What happened?' asked Evelyn.
>
>'I won $1,000 as 1st prize for 'Best Dried Arrangement.. !'
>
>Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly, Kiss slowly! Love truly,
>Laugh uncontrollably and never regret anything that made you smile !

Anything Goes 4 Kids at SAS4Kids

It’s Saturday and time for another fun challenge at Send a Smile 4 Kids! This time our challenge is everyone’s favorite- Anything Goes 4 Kids! Create and link any card appropriate for a child and you could win one of our great prizes. You even have an extra week to enter as we do our challenges the first and third Saturdays of the month, so with the extra Saturday this month, we take a break and you get more time to design, blog and link your card. You do not have to donate your card(s) after you enter our challenge, but our kids would sure love it if you did. And remember we are a card only challenge- cuz that is what we are all about- cards for our kids!

We have three very generous sponsors this week: Sassy Studios is giving their winner 4 digis of their choice! And Di’s Digis is giving their randomly picked winner a $10 Gift Certificate! Squigglefly’s winner will receive 3 digis of their choice!  TEAM S.A.S will also be choosing their favorite cards for our top three and the winners will receive a blog badge and an opportunity to be a guest design team member on a future challenge.

My first card above features Mulan Honey from Sassy Studios. I kept the card CAS using some gorgeous dp for the card and her dress. I did a little coloring and added a green butterfly to complete the card.

"Shy Bear with Goldfish" from Squigglefly is the center of attention on this fun card for one of our boys. I printed him on white and again on light blue cardstock and paper pieced the fish bowl after coloring the fish brown. I attached him to a scalloped circle cut out with my Spellbinders dies and layered him on a fun background created with dp triangles.

"Izzy with Umbrella" is a sweet colored digital stamp from Di's Digis and she is attached with dimensionals onto a die cut oval over an embossed background. I am hoping one of our girls will like this card.

I am entering these cards in the following challenges: Delightful Challenges "For the Boys" (#2); Cute Card Thursday "Anything Goes" (#1); and Shelly's Images "Roll 'em"- choices were Die or Punch, Dimensionals and Embossing (#3).

Bearly-Mine and Fab n Funky Challenges

Easter is the challenge theme this week at Bearly-Mine Challenges and at Fab n Funky, they want us to add a sentiment. I bought an Easter sheet of Clear View Transparencies from The Mark-It Place and just had to make an Easter card with this sweetie. The sentiment was added just by cutting out and highlighting one of the Happy Easters from the designer paper. Such a simple card to make, but  the sweet bunny just makes me smile and I hope it will do the same for you and for the child who receives this card.

Addicted to CAS and Delicious Doodles Challenges

The challenge at Addicted to CAS is to use Wings in our card, and at Delicious Doodles, they want us to use die cuts. I admit I am a total die cut addict and CAS is my style, so these challenges are perfect for me. I was playing with some new Memory Box dies I recently bought and came up with this CAS card. The trees and the goose were cut as silhouettes against a sky created with a designer paper. I embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder.

Wags n Whiskers and QKR Stampede Challenges

QKR Stampede wants us to show them the Green this week and Wags n Whiskers wants us to Go Green too. I had seen a St. Pat's card here using heart dies and it seemed like an easy and fun idea so I tried it. I used two different patterned paper and cut out the hearts with nesties dies in my Big Shot. The stem is from a balloon die and I stamped the sentiment (old one from TAC) and cut out with another Nestabilities die. I added a couple green gems to complete the card.

Hope you all have a Happy St. Patrick's Day later this week.

CAS-ual Fridays and Sassy Studios Challenges

CAS-ual Friday's challenge this week is to use blocks of color and at Sassy Studio Designs they want us to recycle something. I am recycling a paint chip card in the making of this CAS card. I saw a similar design on Pinterest and just had to try it. The pieces are one inch squares with two of the corners rounded. How easy is that? The card is a a 5 3/8" white square and I just added the sentiment to complete the card. The pinky mauve color tones look prettier in real life than in this pix.

Simon Says Stamp and Crafting for all Seasons Challenges

Spring is the theme at Crafting for all Seasons this week, and at Simon Says Stamp they want to see "A Bit o' Green." I am so tired of winter and ready for spring and have been making some Easter and Spring cards to encourage the snow to melt! I was playing with the pillow top background that I learned how to do here. I love the look and this time I did it with green ink. The three step bunny as well as the fun sentiment and little bunny silhouette are all from a set of stamps from Kitchen Sink.

C'mon Spring!!

I stamped the "Soar" sentiment and butterflies (Close to my Heart), and added the butterflies punched in each of the pink paint chip colors with my Martha Stewart butterfly punch.
