Video: Creating with a Neglected Texture Tool - Embossing Folders

I had so much fun designing cards for my newest YouTube video where I show many techniques and ideas for making cards with my sadly neglected embossing folders that I made nearly a dozen new cards! I will be sharing them all week on my blog and I am starting with one of the cards I make from start to finish in the video. I have collaborated with Melissa Kerman on a published article and videos showing her Tarnished Foil technique in the past, and I designed a couple more cards with that technique for this video. Here is another look at this card which would be perfect for a guy for Father's Day or a birthday or any special celebration:

I used a Tim Holtz Sizzix Mesh embossing folder and dies from Tonic Studios and Technique Tuesday. Watch the video here to find out how to get the colorful and textured background with StazOn inks, Nuvo embossing powders and aluminum foil.

Here is another favorite embossing folder card I made for the video. I started with a card base and three dark brown pieces cut with the Spellbinders Card Creator rounded rectangle dies. I taped the three dark brown pieces together with temporary tape and embossed them with a Crafter's Companion 3D embossing folder. I applied Nuvo Indian Gold Embellishment Mousse to the embossed pieces, then attached them to the card base raising the middle layers with mounting tape and pop dots. I attached Mr. and Mrs. die cuts cut with a Honey Bee Stamps die set and the result is a wedding card I just love!

I will be blogging all week showing the cards I made with embossing folders. I hope these card and my video inspire you to pull out yours and show them some love!

  5. Really love that 3D embossed card -- so elegant looking! I recently got two of Tim Holtz's new 3D ones and they are super cool!
