Purple, Black and White Color Swap Cards

I signed up for a color swap challenge in the Let's Make Cards Facebook Group and the colors we were to use were purple, black and white. I am loving the new Simon Says Stamp Shimmer Butterfly die I just got and used her on two cards I made. I also used purple Glitz Glitter Gel from Therm O Web and Gina K Designs through a favorite stencil from Bright Rosa and this card features a layered hello from Tonic Studios.

When I am playing with Glitz Glitter Gel, I like to make several pieces on dark and white cardstock. I cut the white piece apart with diagonal lines and placed back on the purple card front. This Simon Says Stamp Shimmer Butterfly was popped up on pop dots. 

Both cards are in the mail to brighten someone's day. Why not have a play and then do the same?

Somewhere Over the Rainbow Published Card

To be honest, I used to get dozens of cards and articles published in the many stamping magazines that used to be available and never blogged about them. But now that there is only one or two stamping magazines left in the United States, being chosen as featured card artist is a huge honor. One of the themes in the Spring 2020 Rubber Stamp Madness issue is "Stamp A Song" and my "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" card was the first featured card. One of the reasons I like this magazine is that they interview each artist and write such a nice article about the card and artist. 

The stamp I featured on my Somewhere Over the Rainbow card is one of my all time favorites from Visible Image called "Learn to Fly Again." I created the rainbow with my blender brushes from Taylored Expressions. I love that they are color coded and there are no concerns about dark colors remaining in the brush and messing up lighter colors. I also find them so much easier to use to brush on colors than the older blending tools. 

Next issue I am going to be even more excited. HINT: remember the old song "Cover of the Rolling Stone"? Well, if you change the title of the magazine...

Staying Alive Riley Shines and Sparkles With New Silver Glitz Glitter Gel

Silver is another of the new colors of Glitz Glitter Gels just now being revealed from Therm O Web and Gina K Designs and I made these two cards with it and Staying Alive Riley from Riley and Company for my newest video. For my first card I applied the Silver Glitz Glitter Gel through a stencil from Gina K Designs. I paper pieced Riley's suit and added a perfect sentiment for this card from Honey Bee Stamps. 

Riley is "Staying Alive" like John Travolta on this sparkly card. The stars stencil is from Echo Park and "sparkle" is a layered die set from Honey Bee Stamps. 

The new Silver Glitz Glitter Gel is even more sparkly than a still photo can show and I recommend it very highly! It should be available soon from Therm O Web and Gina K Designs. To see how easy it is to add brilliant sparkle to your cards, watch my newest video here.

Video - Staying Alive Riley Shines With New Glitz Glitter Gel Colors

I am in love with two of the new colors of Glitz Glitter Gel just released at Creativation by Therm O Web and Gina K Designs and had so much fun playing with them I just had to share in a new video released today. The Glitz Glitter Gels shine and sparkle on both black and white cardstock as I show in the video. I saw a card by Karen Burniston using her Surprise Ball Pop Up die to create a disco ball and also featured Riley and Company's Riley the Moose dressed to look like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever. I knew I had to CASE that card (copy and selectively edit to make it my own) and ordered the Staying Alive Riley stamp right away. Here is the card I show how to make in the new video:

The front of the card shows the gorgeous Brilliant Blue Glitz Glitter Gel through a stencil from The Crafter's Workshop and a belly band with Silver Glitz Glitter Gel and a layered "shine" die from Honey Bee Stamps. Just look what happens when the belly band slides off:

You are going to want to watch that in the video because the ball pops up for a wonderful surprise when the card is opened. I show how easy it is to create a surprise disco ball pop up in the video after watching Karen Burniston do hers. The shine on the ball is created with Silver Glitz Glitter Gel through a Hero Arts stencil and cut out with layering dies from the KB set. I stamped Staying Alive Riley on kraft brown, white and light blue cardstock pieces and paper pieced them together as I show in the video. The perfect sentiment is also from Riley and Company.

I love how this card turned out and hope you will watch the video to see the shine and sparkle of the new Glitz Glitter Gels and the fun Surprise Ball Pop Up and Staying Alive Riley as well as the layered sentiment dies from Honey Bee Stamps. 

One More Spinner Card From the Newest Video

I learned how to make an Elegant Spinner Box Card from a tutorial here  and it is the third way I shared in my newest video on how to make spinner cards. The pretty floral front of this card was created with Altenew's Floral Flurries wide washi tape and spinning in the center is a flower die cut with a Birch Press Designs die. The stamped sentiments on the front and back are from Stampendous. Here are pictures of a side view and the back:

I used the outside pieces of the Birch Press Designs circle flower die to frame the sentiment and the berry branches dies are by Bright Rosa.

New Gorgeous Glitz Glitter Gel Colors From Therm O Web and Gina K Designs!

I was lucky to get my hands on two of the four new colors of Glitz Glitter Gels just being released at Creativation by Therm O Web and Gina K Designs and I made a couple cards with them right away. The Brilliant Blue is so pretty on black or any colored cardstock and also on white through a stencil! I applied some of the Brilliant Blue through a Bright Rosa stencil onto black cardstock for the background of this card. When it was dry (which doesn't take long at all), I die cut the outline of the Simon Says Stamp Shimmer Butterfly and raised that up over the floral outline of the same SSS die set. The sentiment is a new one from Sue Wilson.

The Glitz Glitter Gels are so sparkly with glitter and that is hard to capture in a photograph. I used the same stencil for this card and added some punched butterflies and gems. The "sparkle" is a die set from Honey Bee Stamps that has the word and two layers you can choose to use or not. I chose the larger outline which has dots all around the edge for this card. Sparkle is the perfect word for these cards because they totally sparkle with all that gorgeous Brilliant Blue Glitz Glitter Gel (which will be available soon here.)

At Creativation, Therm O Web and Gina K introduced three other new colors too - a lovely lavender and an Iridescent which I can't wait to get  those to try on dark colors and over stenciled inked images! And a Silver I did receive and will share on cards and a  video next week! 

Spinner Easel Card and Inside Spinner Card From My Newest Video

I had so much fun making spinner cards for my newest video and this one is a spinner easel card that I learned how to make here. I started with a 5 1/2 inch square card scored at the center and also at 2 3/4" and folded down for the easel. I used My Favorite Things inside and out stitched rounded square dies for the frame and the spinning cupcake is a die from Karen Burniston. The sprinkles were created with an embossing folder and the perfect sentiment is from Technique Tuesday. Karen Burniston's Happy Birthday was die cut out of yellow and black fun foam and is raised to hold open the spinning easel.

I used some darling puppy stamps from Simon Says Stamp (the Pupperoni on the front) and Art Impressions for the spinner inside to make this super cute spinning card for my grandson. He loves puppys and pepperoni pizza so this will be perfect. The "love you" message for him was created with a Karen Burniston die and the wonky stitched rectangles and circle dies are from Gina Marie Designs. 

I will spin the two sided puppy well before putting in the envelope and when he opens it, the puppy will spin around and around. Spinner cards are so fun to make and send and I hope you watch the new video here for tips and instruction on how to make them.

Video - Spinner Cards 3 Ways - Front and Center and Inside Too

I love to make interactive cards, and my newest video features three different ways to make spinner cards. In the video, I show how to make this inside spinner card: 

I used Stampin' up's Silicone Craft Sheet to stamp a reverse image of the Inkadinkado bird which spins in t he center of the pop up center. I forgot to mention in the video that the teal inside piece was cut to 6 3/4" x 10" and scored in half and again at 3 inches from both sides to form the M with a die cut oval center cut out. The HB die is from Simon Says Stamp and the birds are from Sizzix. The front of this card is a homage to one of my most pinned and favorite cards of all time:

I show how I subtly stenciled the background with a Memory Box stencil and attached the layered sentiment from Tonic Studios and the leafy branch from Cheery Lynn. Poppy Stamp's Serene Bird was cut out of two sided sticky tape on cardstock and then covered with Nuvo Snow Glow Sparkle ultra fine glitter. I embossed the bird with a Crafter's Companion embossing folder and colored with peach and yellow distress inks. 

I love how this card came out both on the front and the inside spinner and hope you will watch the new video to see the process and many other spinner cards I made.

3 Love Cards with the New Spellbinders Small Die of the Month Same Colors Different Looks

Have you seen the gorgeous January Small Die of the Month from Spellbinders called Bold Love? I received mine this week and easily created 3 lovely cards with the same colors and papers but different looks. On my first card above I cut out the main die in dark green and inlaid the LOVE pieces cut out of patterned cardstock. It is hard to see, but I added some subtle texture to this card and the one below with a Stampin' up textured embossing folder. 

This love card has a square cardbase and two layers of the main piece in gold and green and offset when I put them together. I cut the 4 letters apart and attached with a little space in between them. The green LOVE was popped up when attached, and I added some small hearts and stems cut out with dies from the set and patterned floral per. The sentiment strip was created with a die and stamp set from Taylored Expressions.

My third Bold Love card was created on a horizontal A2 cardbase with the patterned cardstock background and the gold LOVE popped up on the green main die piece. These cards were easy and fun to make with the new Small Die of the Month set from Spellbinders. I am not sure why they call it a small die because it really isn't and is a bargain at $15. I only belong to one monthly club and I am very happy with the dies I have received since starting it. I do recommend you try this monthly die club out!

Friend Like Gnome Other Birthday Pop Up Card

Today I am sharing one more Gnomie card from my newest video featuring Simon Says Stamp's Lil' Gnome. The sentiment on the front is from a set by Lawn Fawn. But as with all cards made with Karen Burniston's pop up dies, the real magic happens when the card is opened:

Another super cute Gnomie and birthday balloons rise out of the present and wish the lucky recipient Happy Birthday! The inside gnome and balloons are on a piece of acetate and below is what the die apparatus looks like from the side. I watched Karen's video here to learn how to make the magic happen and it is not hard to do.

The Happy Birthday die is also from Karen Burniston and is my favorite because of the cheerful perfect sized font and because the little i is dotted without having to try to save a separate piece! Little things like that make me happy- little but brilliant!

Happy Valentine's Day Gnomie!

One of the gnomie cards I made for my newest video is this Valentines Day card for my grandson. I popped a Lil' Gnome from Simon Says Stamp on an Action Wobble and added the sentiment die from Karen Burniston for the front. But the real magic happens when the card is opened: 

I made an Inside Out card following a tutorial from Same of Mixed Up Crafts. The inside of the card stands up with the 4 panels on the top where I put another Gnomie and my love message using dies from Honey Bee Stamps. The sentiment is from a Lawn Fawn set and I die cut the rectangle with Gina Marie Design's Wonky Rectangle die.

I could not get my Inside Out card to stand up even when trying heavier or lighter weight cardstocks, so I created a velcro inside and out folded piece and now it stands up just fine.

Video - Gnome Cards For Special Gnomies For Any Season Or Reason

I tried real hard to resist jumping on the Gnome bandwagon, but when I saw the Lil' Gnome die from Simon Says Stamp on sale on Black Friday, I couldn't resist. He is so cute! I made several cards with him and am sharing them in my newest video for Special Gnomies. 

This is the winter card I show how to make in the video. The gorgeous scene inside the lantern die from Sugar Pea Designs is a Clear Views Transparency picture. I embossed the card base with a Darice embossing folder. 

This side view shows that the Lil' Gnome is raised on an Action Wobble so he wobbles and jiggles when touched. The wish inside this card is for "Warm Winter Wishes" so it can be sent now or used as a holiday card next December. 

I had so much fun designing with this darling Lil' Gnome I made several cards and shared them in the new video. Thanks for your visit here and your support of my YouTube channel.

CAS Softly Stenciled Pet Sympathy Cards

I show in my newest video how easy it is to make CAS (clean and simple) softy stenciled sympathy cards and share these two pet sympathy cards with softly stenciled cloud backgrounds. The Rainbow Bridge dies and perfect stamps are from Waffle Flower. I stamped sentiments of both of these cards with that beautiful stamp set as well:

Waffle Flower has both Cat and Dog Rainbow Bridge die cuts to choose from, but I had to get both of course. No one wants to send this type of card, but I know from experience when we lost our kitties, they are deeply appreciated.

The Waffle Flower matching sentiments stamp set are perfect for this sad occasion and I will have these on hand for the next time a family member or friend lose a beloved furry family member.

Softly Stenciled CAS Sympathy Cards

It is so easy to make CAS sympathy cards with stencils and stamps as I show in my newest video here. The first two cards feature a beautiful Peace Dove stencil from A Colorful Life Designs and several perfect sentiment stamps. On the first one I created a rainbow of color with a simple handmade circle stencil. 

I made this card by simply brushing on green, yellow and orange inks through a I Stencil, and then stamping on the flowers (Gina K Designs) and the sentiment from Penny Black.
