CAS Stencil and Brusho Card

I was playing with my Brusho Colour Crystals and cling wrap on watercolor paper (instead of glossy paper) and the pretty background on this card was the result. IRL there are sparkly silver lines where the cling wrap was wrinkled because I used silver glimmer mist instead of water to activate the Brushos before applying the cling wrap. Very subtle, but quite lovely. Then I simply used several stencils and black Archival Ink to complete the CAS card.

Cute Raindrops Card

Today I am sharing another card I made with the water droplets stamp from Designs by Ryn. I stamped the water (rain) drops on a polka dot dp from Close to my Heart with black ink and highlighted the drops with white enamel accents from Ranger. The umbrella, rainboots and flowers are outline stickers from Elizabeth Crafts which I attached to sticky two sided paper from Sookang, sprinkled with white fine glitter, then colored with bright Copics. I added a white die cut "hi" from Paper Smooches and dotted the i with a white gem.

School Color Shaker Graduation Card

It's Crackerbox Palace Friday and today I am sharing another graduation card I made with Crackerbox Palace’s awesome stamps. It’s that time of year when we need graduation cards and I love to use the graduate’s school colors when I can. For this card, I chose purple and gold. I used Lil’ Inkers stitched rectangle and square dies to create the layers on the card front and the window opening for a shaker card. I stamped CBP’s graduation hat and “Hat’s Off to You” sentiment in the school colors. Then I created a “well” with mounting tape and dumped in some colored sequins again in the school colors. Here is a picture after a good shaking:

**As a present to you from Crackerbox Palace, all the CBP stamps  on this card will be 20% OFF for one week! What a deal! **

Repeat Impression's Sketch Challenge

Happy Wednesday everyone! It's time for another fun sketch challenge at The House that Stamps Built and we are challenging you to make a card using the sketch below and link it up for a chance at some great Repeat Impressions rubber! For all the details on what you can win and to see the other Rock Stars cards using this sketch, please visit our blog.

I stamped Repeat Impression’s sandcastle on watercolor paper and then created sky and water with my Brusho Crystal Colours and pearl Glimmer Mist. I bleached out the blues from the sandcastle and attached some sand with a layer of glue. I used my nesties dies to cut the oval for the scene and the sentiment which was stamped on part of the colored watercolor paper. I layered both on a kraft cardbase with a strip of navy both of which were subtly embossed with a Tim Holtz embossing folder.

Here is the sketch for you to follow when you create a card for our challenge. You do not need to use Repeat Impressions stamps to enter our challenges, but you get an extra chance to win if you do!

Stenciled Thank You Card

I am sharing one more stencil card today because the challenge at Simon Says Stamp this week is "Stencil It!" SSS is my favorite challenge to enter and one of these weeks I am going to be the lucky winner! I make this card with the stencil technique taught here by Jennifer McGuire.  I decided to try it with black and white ink on grey cardstock. I used a stencil from TCW and to fill in all the openings with first white pigment ink and then black, took a long long time. But I like how it turned out. I cut two "thanks" with a die from Lil' Inker and offset the white on the black. I layered the whole piece onto a white cardbase for a fun thank you card.

Besides the challenge at Simon Says Stamp, I am also entering this card into the anything goes challenge at 613 Avenue Create (another favorite of mine.)

Playing with NBUS

I recently took some time to design with some NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff) that was sitting out in my craft room just begging to be played with. I could not resist the heart stencil the first time I saw it at Simon Says Stamp. I sponged two shades of distress ink through the heart openings and then cut the border with a new border die from Spellbinders. I layered on a burgandy card base and added a simple "love" die cut from Tim Holtz for Sizzix. CAS but perfect for a wedding or any love occasion.

A Favorite Stencil Technique

When I needed some special birthday cards recently, I decided to try a new technique that I learned about in a Jennifer McGuire video here. It is easy to do and the results are beautiful. It stretches the uses of our stencils because it results in a totally different look that just sponging with one color. I taped a TCW floral stencil down with temporary tape over a light blue piece of cardstock and sponged the openings of the stencil with pigment white ink. I heat set the white ink, then moved the stencil slightly and sponged with a blue dye ink. The result is several shades of blue where the inks mix and where they don't. I layered the strip on a white cardbase and attached the "birthday wishes" die cut sentiment from Tonic Studios.  Then I added a floral button embellishment and some black pearls to complete the card.
