Happy Birthday Prize Package You Can Win!

Every year at the end of March I celebrate my twin brother's birthday by giving my followers a chance at winning the present! This year the present is this prize package of dies, stamps, paper and other goodies valued at over $65! It is hard to show you all the goodies in this prize package so I filmed a brief video to better show them:

More Interactive Dinosaur Cards With Dry Wall Repair Tape From My Newest Video

My grandson's favorite dinosaur is the Stegosaurus and so I knew I wanted to make a special Stegosaurus card for him and I share this one in my newest video here. The Stegosaurus on the front is part of the Tim Holtz Sizzix Prehistoric Die Set and I decorated with stenciled dry wall tape and added a fun sentiment with alphabet dies. But look what pops up when this card is opened:

The funny sentiment popped into my head while dozing before sleep (as often happens so I have a pen and paper beside me at night to write the brilliant ideas down before falling to sleep.) I wanted to make a double Bitty Ball Stegosaurus but just couldn't figure out how to get the pieces to look right, so I printed a picture of the Stegosaurus and it pops up when the card is opened on a single Karen Burniston Bitty Ball. 

My last card has another Tim Holtz dinosaur, a dry wall repair tape stenciled background and a computer generated sentiment on a Gina Marie Designs circle die. (The stitched oval die on the inside is also from Gina Marie Designs.)  Did you catch the mistake on this dinosaur card? Turns out this Grandma is not the expert on dinosaurs like my grandsons are, and this dinosaur is not a T-Rex. I still like the sentiment:) I experimented with making a Jacob's Ladder interactive card for the inside and show in the new video how the inside oval jumps from side to side magically:

Video - Cardmaking For Boys With Dinosaurs, Dies and Dry Wall Tape

My grandson is crazy about dinosaurs and this Grandma loves to make cards for him and my teenage grandson too! In my newest video here, I share many cards I made for boys and girls who love dinosaurs with favorite dies and a secret non-cardmaking item that is perfect for adding a little colored checked pattern to our cards. Not long ago I was cleaning out my craft room and came across an unopened package of wall repair tape (or dry wall tape.) I knew I had it for some technique or idea I wanted to try but don't remember what it was so I almost threw it away. But I decided to play with it first, and show in the new video many easy ways to add texture and checks without adding layers. Here is the card I made a version of in the video:

Kids love puzzles so I couldn't resist the Puzzle Fancy Die from Hero Arts and I created this puzzle card with a Tim Holtz Prehistoric Dinosaur on an Action Wobble, "Missing You" die from Cutplorations and a fun checked pattern made from dry wall repair tape. I show how I created this card and the puzzle inside the card that can be put together to reveal a secret message:

After taking this picture, I took the puzzle apart and put in a little bag to mail with the card so my grandson can put the puzzle together to reveal my secret message.

It is very easy to create a fun dinosaur card with a great checked background as I show in this card which was the first card I made with Tim Holtz's Prehistoric Die Set and the dry wall repair tape:

I brushed several shades of ink through the dry wall repair tape on the background and also on the "awesome" sentiment strip. The dry wall tape is sticky on one side so holds in place easily for stenciling and I also attached it to a piece of kraft cardstock before die cutting the star on this card.  

I had great fun creating these dinosaur cards and others I show in the new video here and hope they inspire you to try some of the products and ideas shared and to look around your house for non-crafty items that can be used in our cardmaking. 

More Favorite Cards from My Classes at Crop and Create Delivered - Cardmaking

It is hard to believe that the weekend gathering I just attended virtually was the first ever presented by Scrapbook and Cards Today for card makers. It was so perfectly organized and well run I highly recommend the next one the first weekend of October to everyone who might be interested. Here are the rest of the cards I made in and out of the classes: 

We received a cute set of stamps and dies and an interactive die from Lawn Fawn that we used to make these cards. I paper pieced my critters and other stamps as I am just not one who likes to color. My grandson is going to love these cards! 

I learned so much from the classes taught by Close to My Heart and Becky Moore and we also received a book full of pictures and instructions we can refer back to. Each class and extra make and take or demo is also available to be watched again in the Facebook group and so if we were unable to finish or take a class when scheduled or we want to review part of it again and again, the videos are saved for us. This is another advantage of the virtual classes over taking the class in person at a specific time.

Here are the last of the cards I am sharing, but believe me you will see more cards here in the future using the ideas and products I received from these classes! Cathy Zielske taught a fun CAS card class with stamps, paper and a die from Your Next Stamp. I added some confetti embossing with an embossing folder from Taylored Expressions and some fun sentiment strips from Simon Says Stamp. I chose to paper piece my presents on two of the cards but learned how to blend inks in an emboss technique on the third card. The last card was created with ideas from a couple demos by Therm O Web and Virginia Nebel. 

I had so much fun taking these classes and making these cards and hope you enjoyed seeing the cards too. Another highlight of this virtual crafty gathering was the Keynote Address by the one and only Jennifer McGuire where she challenged us to send out some of the cards we made to spread the joy and two of my cards are in the mail right now to do just that. Jennifer's inspiring address is available here on YouTube for all to watch and I highly recommend it especially if sometimes you wonder why we all love this hobby so much or need some inspiration.

My Favorite Cards From the SCT Crop and Create Delivered - Cardmaking Weekend of Classes

I just had the most wonderful weekend taking virtual classes from Scrapbook and Cards Today in their Crop and Create Delivered for Cardmakers. I learned so much and created many gorgeous cards as you will see. There was 6 full classes taught by nationally known card makers as well as extra make and takes and demos with more free goodies to play with. Some of the pictures of the cards I am showing  also show the stamps, dies, stencils and paper we received. The box we received was huge and full of amazing products. There is another weekend of classes and fun coming up the first weekend of October and I highly recommend you join us next time. 

One of my favorite classes was taught by Libby Hickson from Hero Arts and we received the beautiful layered hummingbird stamp and matching die set as well as the frame die and a reactive ink pad we played with in her class. I followed her instructions but then added my own touches and dies. "Thinking of you" and "Wishing You Well" are dies from Sue Wilson and the "hello" die was included in Gina K's class and I loved it so much I used it on many of my cards. The stitched rectangle dies are from Cutplorations and Gina Marie Designs and think they add so much more interest to the cards. I added some extra flowers from the PhotoPlay class to my direct to paper inked card with water splotches on the Hero Arts reactive ink.

I loved the layering stencils we received from Pinkfresh Studios in a Lunch and Learn session so much I skipped lunch to learn from Lea Lawsom and then play with the stencils. We also received the layered Hugs die from Pinkfresh Studios, and I used my dies from Gina Marie Designs, Kat Scrappiness and Papertrey Ink on these cards.

We also received a fun rainbow die and stamp set from SCT Delivered and I made this card with tips I learned from a make and take taught by Cathy Zielske. I created the background of my card with a stitched hearts cover die from Honey Bee Stamps.

Can you tell I loved the layered "hello" die from Gina K Designs sooo so much? And I also loved the layered floral stencils and matching stamps and dies in this set called "A Little Hello" which will be released soon at her website. In Gina's class she mentioned that the layered flowers would be surprisingly beautiful in shades of grey and black and I agree after giving it a try. I used some stitched rectangle dies from Gina Marie Designs and Cuplorations and sentiment strips from Simon Says Stamp on my cards.

I am so happy with the cards I made and how much I learned and all the goodies I received! 1200 card makers were able to take these classes and receive all these awesome stamps, dies, stencils and paper pads and if there is one blessing from this last year, it is that gatherings like this one organized by SCT in Canada can be attended virtually by crafters from all over the world.

Three More Easy and Unique Cards Featuring the Birch Press Design String Art Frame Cover Die

I love to find ways to stretch my crafty dollars by using the same die or other craft item in many different ways and in my latest Stretch Your Supplies video here, I share 9 different ways to make cards with Birch Press Designs String Art Frame Cover Die. How about making a stencil with the cover die as I did on this card I demo in the video? Then I cut out the "Celebrate" shadow die and raised it before attaching the celebrate word die from Tonic Studios. I finished the card with three gems from Gina Marie Designs. 

My last two cards show once again how simply attaching the String Art Frame cut in white over a beautiful background and adding a sentiment results in easy gorgeous cards. The backgrounds on these two cards were created with Nuvo Shimmer Powders on watercolor paper and spritzed with water. I added some Nuvo Aqua Shimmer when dry for even more sparkle that shows better in the video. The Hugs heart die is from Poppy Stamps and Wishing You Well is a die from Sue Wilson. 

I made 9 cards with this awesome die easily in just a short time and have re-stocked my stash. I hope they have inspired you try some of these ideas and products.

More Easy to Make Gorgeous Cards With Birch Press Designs String Art Frame Cover Die

In my newest video here I share 9 cards all made with the gorgeous Birch Press Designs String Art Frame and show how to brush on Cosmic Shimmer Opal Blaze Polish on the inside circle and string frame to make this lovely card. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp.  Here is another card I made with purple Cosmic Shimmer Opal Blaze Polish and the same die: 

How about trying some double die cutting with this String Art Frame cover die? 

The center circle and "Hey" is offset just a bit inside a double cut piece of the String Art Frame to create a fun and easy card to say "hey" to someone I am missing. Stretch Your Supplies Video Series - Birch Press Designs String Art Frame Die 9 Ways!

I love to create with cover dies but we all know they can be a bit expensive. In my continuing Stretch Your Supplies Video Series, I show many ways to use the same die or crafty product so we can stretch our crafty dollars. In my newest video here, I show 9 different cards and different ways to use the beautiful String Art Frame cover die from Birch Press Designs! Several of the cards show that if you pick the right paper, all you need to do is cut the String Art Frame and attach, then add a sentiment for an easy and gorgeous card:

I embossed an iridescent mirror card from Tonic Studios with a new Sizzix embossing folder and then simply attached the Birch Press String Art Frame die and a circular thank you from Impression Obsession. All my second card needed was a gorgeous paper from Divinity Designs, a  raised circle in the center and a sentiment strip from Simon Says Stamp:

My third card features ombre purple inks, another pretty string art die from Birch Press Design called String Art Corner Die and a perfect sentiment from Sue Wilson:

Happy St. Patrick's Day Shaker Card

I am not Irish but we can all celebrate St. Patrick's Day, right? Especially after the year we have all had and the hope we now have for 2021! I recently received a surprise in the mail from Maker Forte' and opened it to find a lovely note and the Maker Forte' St. Paddy's Day Lucky Truck Stamp Set! I decided to use it as the centerpiece of a shaker card made with hearts created with Dies...To Die For Torn Heart dies. I filled the shaker with Gold Star Confetti also from Maker Forte' and a perfect Sparkle Blend Sequin Mix called Test Your Luck (along with seed beads that help them move freely.) Here is a peak at that fun shaker movement:
