Smores and Typewriter Cards

There is no connection between the two cards I am posting today except that I am trying to show some love to some of my newer crafty items I have purchased before putting them away. The summer will be over before we know it. One of the favorite things I love to do with my grandsons is to make smores over a campfire at the lake house. This fun cards was made with stencils and stamps from A Colorful Life Designs. 

I had to get the new larger typewriter keys embossing folder from Tim Holtz after watching his video when they were released. I made the  background with black paint over the embossed copper letters and then sanded off some of the paint. The "you" was cut out of copper cardstock and distressed a bit.

Christmas Cards with New Products for my Stash

Recently I have purchased new embossing folders, dies and stencils for Christmas cards, and I had a play with them before putting them away. Today I am sharing 3 cards I made for my Christmas card stash. My favorite new paper is from CutCardStock and it is Stardream Metallic Cardstock. My first two cards were made with the Antique Gold Color. 

I combined the Molded Frame Embossing Folder from Spellbinders and the Radiant Snowglobe die from Memory Box. This Antique Gold cardstock embosses beautifully as you  can see on the next card which features a new 3D embossing folder from Lisa Horton called Candles and a pretty Clear Views Transparency. 

I love making cards with Waffle Flower's Postage Collage dies and stencils. The card below was created with their Postage Collage Christmas Stencils, and the North Pole and Dear Santa stamp sets.

Surprise- More Eclipse Cards with Slatted Dies from CraftAddictionUK

I have been having so much fun with new dies from Craft Addiction UK I received from Clipper Street Scrapbook Company out of Canada. I wanted their Checkerboard set because you get 4 different sizes of checkerboards and you get a separate edge die you can choose to use or not. I found some pretty floral designer paper I had two sheets of and made this card in just minutes. 

The Club Scrap Luminary Card Kit was sitting here and so I decided to use the perfect combo of colors in that kit to make these two cards. On the first one I cut strips of 3 colors of cardstock for behind the checkerboard squares. On the second one I added the patterned squares from the first one in diagonal strips and both feature sentiments and decorative elements from the kit. 

I saw a video where someone had taken the strips cut out from glitter foam and attached them on top of another slatted shape so they were raised. I like finding new ways to eclipse and so I tried it. I made two ornaments out of the glitter foam and now have one more card for my Christmas card stash done.

Club Scrap Luminary Cards

Have you tried a cardmaking kit from Club Scrap yet? They have monthly subscription plans for cardmakers and scrappers, but you can choose to buy each kit individually. They also have great sales on previous kits. I picked up the Luminary kit recently and loved the color choices and embellishments we received. I made two cards just as the video taught and am sharing them today. The kits include sentiment pieces for the front and inside which I love. This card has many folds as you can see on this picture:

See all that lovely ribbon and the gold coin and the see through pouch? All were included in the card kit along with the gorgeous paper and instructions to make 4 different cards. Here is the inside of this card with such a fun sentiment:

Colour Shift Shenanigans Class

I recently took part in an online class from Clipper Street Scrapbook Company out of Canada and I think it was worth every penny! We received 3 of the new Lisa Horton Colour Shift Inks and paper and diecuts enough to make 6 cards at least! The card above was my favorite. We learned many techniques for different ways to use the inks and then put the cards together. I already own the embossing folder from Tim Holtz and the fun journal style dies are from Gummiapan. 

Here are two cards I made pretty much exactly as the great teacher taught but each students cards will be different depending on what stencil they chose or how they smooched the ink. Here is another card I made as taught but I used a combo of stencils and the look is different because of that:

The last two cards I went rogue and did my own thing. After we inked and stenciled the journal card from Gummiapan I decided this would be a great card for my grandson and found the perfect die cut sentiment to use. We learned a fun technique with plastic wrap on these inks but I wasn't happy with how mine turned out. But I didn't want to waste it and my new Checkerboard dies from CraftAddictionUK that I bought from Clipper Street were sitting here waiting to be played with, so I made this card:

There is some shimmer in the piece I made but the lines of the plastic wrap are not visible. I die cut the sentiment out of the same piece and added some more of the many die cuts we received in the kit.

Monthly Christmas Card Inspiration Series Eclipse Style

New ways to eclipse and less holiday stress - that is what I am sharing today. I am starting a new series on the CutCardStock Blog and here posting Christmas cards to encourage you to get ahead of the holiday rush. 

The eclipse technique where the pattern flows from the background through raised objects on cards is not new. It started with alphabet dies years ago. New slatted dies like the ones from Craft Addiction UK have made the look trendy again.

All you need to make a card like this is two pieces of identical patterned paper and a slatted circle die. This lovely scene from the Winter Wonderland Paper Pad from CutCardStock is perfect. The Slatted Circle Die is from a set by Craft Addiction UK which I purchased from Clipper Street.com out of Canada.

There is a detailed tutorial on how to make this card on the CutCardStock blog here. Basically, I cut a square cardbase out of the gorgeous Stardream Metallic Copper Cardstock. I cut the slatted circle (ornament) out of the patterned paper and also out of two layers of leftover thick metallic copper cardstock to raise it for the eclipse look. Merry Christmas and its shadow (from Crealies) was also raised on fun foam for more of the eclipse look. Here is another look at the card I created:

Eclipsing Slatted Dies and More

I have shared many cards lately made with the Sealife Stained Glass patterned cardstock from Paper Wishes because it is so perfect with the eclipse look and slatted die sets. This card is a double easel makde with the Slatted Circle Die Set from Craft Addictions UK. I found mine at the North American distributor Clipper Street Scrapbook Company on a Facebook Live but they are available here if you call or email to order. Or you can order directly from Craft Addictions UK on their website. 

I cut a baby square eclipse for the center of this butterfly shaped card I created with the largest butterfly die in that set. In my new video here I share all of these cards and more. If you don't have two sheets of identical patterned paper to do the eclipse technique with, you can print them on your computer using non-copyrighted images or digital ones you purchase. Here is a card I made that way:

You also can look through the dies you own and see if any will work for the eclipse technique. I was reminded of this larger weaving die from Creative Expressions and made this card:

Slatted Dies- To Eclipse or Not?

Have you seen the new slatted dies out of the UK? They are perfect for eclipse cards but for so much more than that too. I played and designed a bunch of cards for my newest video here. I layered three sizes of the Slatted Stars for this CAS card using cardstock and colors from a Club Scrap kit I own. 

The Slatted Hearts die set from Craft Addictions UK has both vertical and horizontal options so I layered the two before attaching to a card created with a Pinpoint Burst Plate from Memory Box and gold Stardream Metallic Cardstock from CutCardStock. 

But as I show in the new video, my favorite way to use these slatted dies is still with the eclipse technique. I made two cards in the video and one was a triple butterfly easel eclipse card shown here:

Isn't that pretty? And not hard to make as I show here in the video. The copper cardstock is a new favorite from CutCardStock called Stardream Metallic.

I also tried an eclipsed shaker card and it was a success. However the sand and tiny stars that shake do not show up real well in a still photo so you might want to watch the video to see how easy and fun this card was to make:

Christmas in July Clear Views Class Cards

We had great fun in the Christmas in July classes I taught at Harts n Scraps recently. All of the cards feature Clear Views Transparencies by Jill Lemke that I teach with every other month and are sold very reasonably at the store. The first card is a tri-fold and you can see the puppy through the window. The second card is perfect to recreate for a larger Christmas list and we put old Christmas music behind the transparency. The third card was a class favorite because they learned how to make a pop up present perfect for a gift card or small gift without the use of an expensive die set. And on the last one we added ink through a stencil on glitter paper before adding the ornament and the transparency. 

The students went home with four cards for an early start for their stash of holiday cards and lots of ideas.

Creek Bank Creations Life and Look Cards

All this week I am featuring Creek Bank Creations interactive dies on my blog. Today's cards are made with their Lift and Look Card Base die set. We did a make and take in their booth at Novi MI and of course I could not resist. The layered die set and the pretty paper is also from Creek Bank Creations. The picture is a Clear Views transparency from Jill Lemke (which I teach with every other month at Harts N Scraps.) But just look at what happens when the card is opened:

The picture and stamped sentiment pulls up as the card is opened.

The layered "You" and tweed paper are from Creek Bank Creations too. The foiled image is from Deco Foil foiled with rainbow foil.

I attached a gift card to the pop up so it slides up to surprise the recipient. All the awesome dies and products from Creek Bank Creations that I featured this week are available on their website if you aren't at a stamp show like where I found mine.

New Waffle Flower Magic and My First Short

I had time this week to play with some new Waffle Flower Open Books dies and stencils but no time for a full length video. So I decided to make my first Short for YouTube and other social media. You can see it here. In the short, I show how I created this card for my grandson with the Waffle Flower Open Book Die set as well as the Dragon Castle Stencil Duo and Open Book Sentiments stamp set. 

In the newest release at Waffle Flower I couldn't resist the Open Book Poinsettia stencil set. The Open Book dies and stencils had been on my wish list for awhile so I purchased them all and made these cards. The die has two handwriting impressions I used on the inside of the pages on this card:

Creek Bank Creations Tunnel Cards

Another favorite die set I purchased in the Creek Bank Creations booth at the Novi MI show was the Free Standing Tunnel Card die set along with all the pretty dies to decorate it. I have tried to make tunnel cards in the past without dies but did not have much success. After watching the videos at Creek Bank Creations I made several very easily. 

Here is a horizontal version I made with their Village Edges dies. I put this one onto an A2 card base so I can write a message inside. 

There is a stitched oval tunnel add on at Creek Bank Creations I also could not resist and I love how this card turned out!

Creek Bank Creations Spiral Pop Up Cards For Any Season

This week I am sharing all the cards I made after shopping in the Creek Bank Creations booth at Novi MI. This card front is lovely with the pretty paper from Creek Bank but just look what happens when the card is opened:

My favorite of all the dies I bought from Creek Bank Creations is the Spiral Pop Up Die which creates an acetate spiral where we can attach small die cut or punched pieces. In this card I attached pretty flowers and made a feminine birthday card for a special friend. 

I used inspiration from the Creek Bank Creations samples in their booth for this card I made with their Mini Fall Die Set and Circle Stamp Autumn Greetings. I remember making similar spiral cards years ago but using acetate is new to me. 

Here is a Christmas card I made with more inspiration found in the Creek Bank Creations videos. Julie made a starry night sky and I gave it my own twist with embossing powder on two sided tape paper heated with a heat gun for texture and then added some stars to that. 

The cardinal was created with a stencil and die set from Creek Bank Creations. The frame is from Penny Black and the sentiment from Sue Wilson. But as usual with these cards, the inside is the best part: 

I added punched snowflakes to my acetate spiral that pops up as the card is opened. That is hard to show with still pictures, so here is a mini video showing these cards:

Crealies Slimline Postage Collage Frame Dies Horizontal and Vertical

I love how Annelies of Crealies names her Postage Frame die sets after members of our design team. The newest one is called Nicole and is a Slimline Postage Frame Die Set that I used in both of my cards today. I also show step by step how to make this card in my new video:

As you know, there are many Christmas in July sales and events. I use it as an incentive to get some of my Christmas cards done early avoiding the rush at the end of the year. I made this slimline card a horizontal easel card and decorated it with the new Mini Christmas Partzz die set. Three of the stitched shapes were raised with the layering stitched dies. I used the new Banner Tags for the sentiments.

 

I love how with these Crealies Postage Frame dies you can choose to parts or all of the shapes for great dimension and also how the pattern flows from the background through the raised images. I made this card a vertical slimline thank you card. On both the cards I share in the new video, I created the card front with the new Slimline Postage Frame die. It is slightly larger than the slimline card base I created so the edges have the fun postage edge. Here is another view of this card:
