It's time for the first challenge of 2012 at Send a Smile 4 Kids and we are challenging you to make a Valentine card that a child would like. We are always working ahead here at SAS4Kids because if you decide to send in your Valentine for one of our kids in the seven children's hospitals we are currently servicing, we would need to receive it at one of our four addresses by February 1st to ensure time to get them to the hospital before the holiday. But don't worry- if we get cards after a mailing deadline, we will save them for the next year or arrange a rush delivery. And feel free to enter our challenges even if you can't donate the card to SAS4Kids. Make a Valentine for your child or grandchild or friend and enter it in the challenge for a chance to win some great prizes! Please visit the blog for all the details and to see the TEAM S.A.S cards.
Our wonderful sponsors for the Valentines for Kids Challenge are: Stamp Shoppe Creations and their prize is a $15 gift certificate to their on-line shop; Delicious Doodles and they are offering one random winner 4 digital images of their choice; and Bugaboo who is giving 7 free digis of the winner's choice! I had so much fun with the sponsor's images, I had to make one card for each sponsor!
For my second card I used this super cute Valentine dino from Bugaboo. I paper pieced him and placed him on a white circle. I used a nestie and my No More Shims pad to create the embossed frame and added the sentiment (Stamp Shoppe Designs) and some hearts to complete the card.
My third card features a fun Valentine Bug from Delicious Doodles. I paper pieced him and then cut and embossed with a wacky rectangle nestie. I raised him with mounting tape and placed him above a dp layer and an auqua strip with a punched heart edge (Martha Stewart). I used two of the words from the sentiment from Stamp Shoppe Creations and a heart gem to make the sentiment tag. Some gems and a button complete the card.
I am entering these cards in the challenges at Simon Says Stamp (New Something), Whimsy Inspirations (New Beginnings) and My Mum's Craftshop (Something New.) All the stamps I used were new to me and I had fun making these Valentines for the kids in children's hospitals.
Stamping smiles, Karen
