Tonic Studios Garden Terrace Header Birthday Card

This is the second in a series of cards I am designing for an article in Scrap and Stamp Arts featuring the Garden Terrace header dies from Tonic Studios. I love how versatile these dies are! You can choose to cut each die with or without the edge die. For this card, I die cut the floral header twice on a piece of 5x5" white cardstock without the edge die and attached it on a square dark plum cardstock base. Check out how the little flowers pop up for added dimension and interest. I die cut the Miniature Moments Birthday Wishes die out of a scrap of the same dark plum cardstock and finished the card with some Nuvo Violet Galaxy Crystal Drops.

Tonic Studios Header and Sentiment Dies

I am working on a magazine article in which I am showing different ways to use the same die set. I have chosen Tonic Studio's Garden Terrace Header Set as the set I am featuring. My first card is showing a traditional way to use a header die- popping up from the top of a card. I had forgotten how much I love dark plum cardstock and used it on the first two cards I designed. But no matter what I tried, the pretty dark plum color looks more black than plum in my pictures. I started with a 5 1/4" square white card base. I cut a dark plum piece 5" x 6 3/4" and die cut the floral header and Tonic Studio's Mr. and Mrs. heart dies. I die cut the Miniature Moments "Congratulations" out of a white cardstock scrap and attached to the card. I added some pearls to complete the wedding congrats card.

White on White Thinking of You Card

I have been playing with some new toys and created this Thinking of You card with several of them. The embossing folder is called Inside Out by Tea Paper Crafts (sold in the states by Cheery Lynn Designs), and the Inside Out embossing plates allow you to choose which parts of an embossing folder you want to emboss. They are similar to the diffusers sold a while back, but much cheaper and with more oval options. I chose to emboss just the edges and largest oval of the embossing folder. Then I die cut and attached the Thinking of You die from Elizabeth Crafts. I added some pearls for a little dimension.

Snowy Acetate Stepper Christmas Card

I recently found this beautiful card on Pinterest and was inspired to try an acetate stepper card. I am always making Christmas cards to share in my in home classes and so that my cards are done well before the holidays, so I designed this snowy Merry Christmas card.

I made my card 5 1/2" wide, but you can choose your desired width. There is a link to a tutorial on the above linked blog you can check out for more specifics. But the base of the card is cut 12 inches long and scored at 1, 2, 4, 6 and 9 inches, then folded mountain, valley, mountain, etc. I cut my acetate topper 4 1/2" by 12" and scored it in the center. I decorated my inside steps with two brand new dies from Memory Box (Merry Christmas Fancy Channel and Snowflake Breeze.) I added some punched snowflakes and glittery snow gems. I stamped the beautiful snowflake from IO with white pigment ink on the acetate topper and carefully heat set to dry.The acetate is attached to the front and back of the stepper card base with strong two sided tape. I covered the front tape with a lovely Die'sire Edgables Snowflake die which I cut and embossed. I covered the back strip with a punched snowman border (Martha Stewart punch.) My last step was to add some sparkly Nuvo Glitter Deops to the front snowflakes. Here are some more pictures showing the acetate stepper card from the side and back:

Pin-Sights Guest Artist Challenge

I subscribe to the CLASSroom and was recently notified that Ellen Hutson was holding a call for guest artists at their Pin-Sights Challenge. To apply, we need to use our favorite Essentials by Ellen product along with other products Ellen Hutson also sells to make and then blog a card. I own many Essentials by Ellen dies, but my favorite is this "Be-You-tiful" die by Julie Ebersole. I love the message it shares - Be You and You are Beautiful! Deciding what products to use with that die was a little harder. Ellen Hutson carries just about everything, so where do I start? I decided to feature a Memory Box bird, a Penny Black leafy flourish and a We R Memory Keepers embossing folder to start.

I saw this card recently by Ruth of the UK Tonic design team and contacted her for details on how to make the fun fold on the bottom of her card. She referred me to the tutorial here on her blog. I played around with the measurements (as hers were in metric and for a much wider card than I wanted.) I cut a piece of navy cardstock 5 1/2' wide by 4 1/2" tall and scored the shorter side at the 1/2" line. Then I found the center of the rectangular piece and followed her directions for scoring the front fold. Here are some pictures that show this fun fold from the side:

I cut the 5 1/2" square card base out of the same navy cardstock and embossed it with a We R Memory Keepers embossing folder. The card base is attached to the fun fold front on the 1/2" fold. I die cut Penny Black's Flower Frolic die out of green cardstock and attached it. I cut a piece of Be Creative Sookang two sided tape and attached it to a piece of cardstock. I die cut Memory Box's Airin Bird die out of black cardstock and attached it to the very sticky Sookang tape piece. I dumped on White Glitter Ritz super fine glitter and burnished it in. Then I colored the beautiful bird with Copic markers and cut her out. I attached her sitting on the Penny Black leafy branch. I die cut Essentials by Ellen's "Be-You-tiful" out of a navy scrap and attached it to a scalloped circle cut out with a Spellbinder's Nestabilities die. I added some dots in each scallop with a Copic marker.

I love trying new folds and combining fun dies with great products such as what is sold at Ellen Hutson. I am entering this card in the Pin-Sights Guest Artist Challenge

Christmas Card with Tonic Dies and Paper

I am loving Tonic's Premium 8 x 8 Paper Packs and created this card with sheets from the Winter Wonderland Pack. I die cut the Rococo Santa's Sleigh die out of two sided tape paper and applied Nuvo Glitter Noir embossing powder to the top part of the sleigh and Nuvo Gold Enchantment embossing powder to the bottom. I heat set the entire sleigh with my heat gun and the result was a sparkly textured beautiful sleigh. I created a red A2 card base and die cut the sentiment and top opening with the Merry Christmas Strip Die Set out of a snowy kraft piece from the Winter Wonderland paper pack. I added some Nuvo White Blizzard Glitter Drops to the brown snowflakes. The Tonic paper packs include several sheets of perfect sentiments and I used one for the inside of this card:

I added a couple snowflakes I cut out with Tonic's Festive Flurry die set.
