Whirly Wheel Magic

One of the most amazing dies in the new release by Karen Burniston is the Whirly Wheel die. Just look at what happens when the wheel on the right is turned:

The unicorn flies and reveals a hidden message! The perfect stamps and the unicorn are also part of this release. Here is another card I created for my grandson who currently loves Minecraft:

I attached the Minecraft napkin to cardstock with my Minc and plastic wrap and printed the images. Just about anything can pop up using the Whirly Wheel die:

The cute frogs here are part of the new Leaping Animals set and the grass is one of the Curved Edges die set. Both can be found here on the Karen Burniston website.

More New Ways to Eclipse

In my new video here, I shared many eclipse cards made with new slatted dies I bought from Ebay out of the UK. The dies are in high demand and often out of stock, so I went through my dies and made some eclipse cards with layering dies like this one:

I used some stitched layering pennant dies from Gina Marie Designs on this one and one of the pennants and some stitched strips from Taylored Expressions on this card:

I made this card with some new layered Essential Triangles from Ellen Hutson and the layered sentiment dies are from Crealies. Evan a picket fence can be eclipsed like I did on this card:

The Picket Fence die is from Fabulous Folded Cards (Hot off the Press) and here is a bonus card I made also with this die set:

Deep Impressions June Class Cards

I taught three classes of students the Deep Impressions technique at Harts n Scraps this week, and I think this card was everyone's favorite. The technique is something I learned years ago from Fran Seiford of Stampendous and it involves melting layers of embossing powder on chipboard on an electric griddle. If you would like to see how it is done, watch this video I made a while back for my YouTube channel.

But years ago, we didn't have Embossing Glazes from Tim Holtz and these hearts were made with the translucent aqua blue embossing glaze and some copper highlights. IRL they are just gorgeous. The speckled background was created with Pixie Spray and gold foil.

Here are the other three cards I taught:

I never just teach a technique and then slap them on a card, so I showed them several fun folds and an easy way to make a shaker card. We all had fun!

New Ways To Eclipse!

Have you seen the buzz over the new way to make eclipse cards? I started seeing cards with popped up slats and thought I just have to get those dies and try it. But the dies are very hard to find in stock and when I did finally get them, there was a learning curve which I will save you from as I share many cards in my new video here

I have always been fascinated by the eclipse look on my cards with the background pattern continuing on raised images. Recently I saw much excitement over cards being posted  by Eileen Walters out of the UK and others. Eileen sells her dies on Ebay out of the UK here, but they are often sold out as the demand is high and they are only available in the UK for now.

I tried raising the slats with the foam strips I had but they were too wide and showed as I shared in the video. You can use other dies as I also share and will post later this week on the blog. But I was determined to figure out how to raise the slats evenly and show how I do it and made this card step by step:

To make any of these eclipse cards, you need to start with two pieces of identical cardstock. You can stamp on them or print an image or use patterned paper as I have done on most of the cards I share. Here is another one I loved how it turned out:

And here is one more I made with these dies and foiled Foil It sheets from Taylored Expressions:

More Cards Made with New Dies from the Michigan Show

The cards I am sharing in this blog post feature the A2 Compass Scroll Die Set from Scrappy Tails. I chose to create the card base with the same die set so the card shape is an unique one. I embossed the scroll with an embossing folder and inked them to age the look. Here is one I made with a maps patterned paper:

This die set makes great masculine cards and I am sure I will be using it again and again.

3 Ways to Create With Scrappy Tails A7 Tri-Fold Die Set

I recently took a class taught by Sabrina Leavell of Scrappy Tails learning how to make a tri-fold Winter Wonderland card. I was so impressed by the die set and the many ways to create with it, of course I had to buy it and many other die sets from their booth as well.

This is the Christmas Wishes card I create step by step in my new video here.  As I show, it is not at all hard to do and will be loved and displayed by the recipient I am sure. In addition to the A7 Trifold Pop Up Die Set, this card also features Scrappy Tails' Winterscape Tall Trees & Deer, Rustic Log Cabin, and  Christmas House Window die sets.

Here are a couple more view of this tri-fold card:

As I show in the video, this die set can make single, double or triple pop up cards and here is my favorite of the single versions I made:

I know so many dog lovers so could not resist the Scrappy Tails Birthday Dog Treats die set and I used that die set to make this single pop up card. "Enjoy" is a die from Karen Burniston and the little dog on the front was from a set I received as a free gift from Scrappy Tails for spending lots in their booth.

Here is a double version I made with many of the same dies I used in the triple pop up card I made in the video:

I love all the layered sentiment dies included in many of the die sets from Scrappy Tails. The loon stencil is from Northwoods Stamps.

Another of my favorite booths at the Novi MI was Brass & Bliss, and I could not resist the Build an Owl and Owl Halloween Add-ons as well as the Googly Eyes dies that I made this single pop up card with:

The A7 Tri-Fold Pop Up from Scrappy Tails die set is very versatile and you choose to have one, two or three images pop up. I put the mummy owl on the top because it covered up the adorable witch owl too much.

I had great fun creating these cards and hope you will watch the video here and then make some pop up cards of your own.

Sassy Cards With Club Scrap Kits

I love using humor in my cards and so could not resist a card kit from Club Scrap called Sassy. After purchasing the kit, I watched their video and learned how to make this card do this:

So true and so funny!! Here are two more cards I made with this kit and the same fun pop up motion:

These cards lay flat to mail and are sure to make the recipient laugh out loud.

Here is a mini video showing the great pop up motion of these cards. (If you can't see the video, you  can find it on my Facebook page or Instagram - links on the right side of my blog.)

Signs of Love with Crealies Dies

Summertime is almost here and that means warmer temperatures and wedding season. Crealies newest release is full of the signs of love, and I had so much fun creating love cards for my newest video here. Above is a postcard I created to "Save the Date." The new Sign Posts are also perfect for personalizing wedding cards like I did below:

In my new video I show how to create elegant wedding cards with a surprise pop out corner, and this is the one I created step by step with front and inside views along with another card with the same pop out corner:

I had great fun creating with these new Crealies dies and I hope you will watch the video and give some of the ideas and products a try!

Gorgeous Dies and Papers from My Latest Adventure

I have never been to a huge stamp and scrapbook show before, and was thrilled to attend the show recently in Novi, Michigan with some friends. I saw so many new products and learned so much and now am playing each day with the new treasures I found.

These cards feature a new die called Clouds-Stained Glass from a company that is new to me - Brass & Bliss. They used to be Rubbernecker Stamps but the owner's son is now the owner and is designing many amazing dies and stamps that they displayed in a booth they shared with The Paper Cut out of Appleton. These cards also feature paper I bought at the show in a kit called Abundance from Club Scrap. I loved the color combinations of the papers in this kit and used them on the cards below as well:

This is the A2 Fan Fold card I learned how to make from Frenchie on her website here and this switched around to teach in my new video this week.

One thing I love about Club Scrap's card kits is that they include sentiments to use if we choose to, and I did with some of the left over triangles after making the fan fold. Here is an A2 version and a 5x7 version both made with some more of the gorgeous paper and leaves in the Abundance Card Kit:
