I had to pick the Halloween Maze Stamp set from Doodle Pantry for my card for this challenge. I just think so many kids would get a kick out of getting a Halloween card with a maze (or two) they can solve on it! I also printed the colored digital funny bat and the perfect sentiment on the front from Doodle Pantry. Now take a look at the inside of the card:

I love using pre-colored digital images for quick and easy cards. No way can I color anywhere near as good as the professionals who colored this Doodle Pantry Handy Birdie digital stamp. Isn't he sweet? And perfect for a Dad on Father's Day! I cut him out with a stitched square die and attached it to the front of a square easel card. I also printed the two sentiments from the same Doodle Pantry set. I sponged one with blue ink and popped the other one up to hold up the easel.

My card is a Valentine for a special boy featuring Doodle Pantry's colored digital stamps from the Little Boy Valentine set. I folded down the top of a red square card base and layered the Valentine truck on a blue square. I attached some Valentine dp in the center of the card and the fun sentiment also from Doodle Pantry.

My first card above features Doodle Pantry's cute Holiday Ants. I printed the colored digital image of them stealing Santa's cookies and attached to a red crackle cardstock piece. Then I printed the words and cut out with a stitched circle die from My Creative Time, then attached the semi-circles under the red piece. Those were attached to a kraft card base and I added some green candy gems for fun.

My second card features the sweet Teddy from A Day for Daisies. I printed him on a white cardstock scrap and paper pieced him and his stocking. I embossed a white front piece and attached him with pop dots and a gold cord under some reindeer washi tape. The sentiment is from Verve.

My first card above features Spaceboy Skip from DRS Designs. Isn't he perfect for a boy's birthday card? I paper pieced Skip and his friend, colored in the stars with a yellow gel pen and added a couple punched stars too before layering on a gold square card base. 

Can you tell I am a Grandma to a young boy? I am always picking out digital stamps from our sponsors perfect for boys. This maze is a digital stamp from Doodle Pantry called Amaze-ing Words One. I love to create cards for our kids they can interact with. I cut out the Birthday Boy maze and the navy blue card front with stitched rectangle dies from Lil' Inker. My first card above features a super cute Leonard Pig digi stamp from DRS Designs. I created a joy fold card and Leonard and his roses were paperpieced on the top fold. This is what the inside looks like (Valenswine's Day from DRS Designs too.)

My second Valentine is a shaker card featuring cute digis from Doodle Pantry called Love Worms. I printed the colored versions of the digis and created a circular shaker top with acetate, mounting tape and a circle cut with Nestabilities. I filled the shaker with sequins and tiny red hearts. I embossed both cards with my favorite candy heart embossing folder from Cuttlebug and added a sentiment from the same digi set by Doodle Pantry.

My first card above features Quirky Mouse from Doodle Pantry. Isn't he cute? I printed him on white cardstock and cut him out. I also printed out the sentiment from the same Doodle Pantry set, cut it out with deckle scissors and sponged with green ink. The "cheese" top and bottom was created with a circle edge punch from Martha Stewart and a stitched die from Lawn Fawn. I raised those pieces up with pop dots and attached the Quirky Mouse on top.

My second card features an awesome stamp called Skateboard Girl by Kenny K. I printed her on white cardstock and cut her out with a circle Nestabilities die. I paper pieced her helmet, skateboard and clothes and colored the rest. I sponged the circle and the blue square card. I stamped Awesome (from Technique Tuesday) and attached the "seriously" diecut (by Lil' Inker.)

We start early here at SAS4Kids for holiday cards because we would love for every one of the kids in the 8 children’s hospitals we currently serve to receive a card on all the major holidays and to be able to pick some out to send to relatives or friends they are missing while in the hospital. So after making your holiday cards of any kind during any time of the year, please consider sending them to one of the addresses under the tabs on the top. If we get them early (or late) we will save them for the next box going to the hospitals close to the holiday.

My first card above features a sweet pre-colored little girl from Whoopsi Daisy. I don't usually do pastels in my Christmas cards, but why not? I created a background with a Martha Stewart border punch and an embossing folder from Darice. Then I printed and cut out the precious girl holding a present.

The image from Doodle Pantry I chose for my second card is called Birdie Christmas and is a pre-colored image as well. I cut him out with a Nestabilities die and attached him to the front of a folded card that has been embossed with a musical note embossing folder from Cuttlebug. Here is the inside of the folded card with a fun sentiment also from Doodle Pantry and some musical punched notes.

I just love the "Best Man" image from A Day for Daisies I used to make my first card above. He reminds me of my sweet grandson:) I printed him on white cardstock, paper pieced his tux and flowers and colored the rest with my Copics. The sentiment is from Repeat Impressions. I attached blue polka dotted dp on half of the front piece and attached the cut out "Best Man" over the middle. That piece was popped up with mounting tape to raise it over the white card base. 

If you follow my blog, you know I have been having a lot of fun making cards in a box. The flowers and sentiment from Doodle Pantry's Tulip Wreath set seemed perfect for another fun card in a box. I printed the colored version of the tulip wreath and various colors of the tulips and the sentiment and cut them out. I attached all the stamps to a yellow card in a box and added some purple layers and some punched flowers on the sides. This box folds flat for mailing and I think any Mother would love receiving this cheerful tulip card.

Couture Creations 2014 Design Team Audition

If you follow my blog, you know of my love for embossing folders and die cuts. Couture Creations has many unique embossing folders and other products, and they are having a design team call right now here on their blog. I would absolutely love to create with more of their fantastic products and this blog post is an audition for them. The tri-shutter card above is one I posted on my blog 1/14/14, shared at the January Stamp Club meeting held at our local Stamp Shoppe, and is going to be taught in my March in home classes. Here is how the card looks open: 

To make a tri-shutter card, you simply cut a piece of cardstock 5 1/2 inches by 12 inches. Score the cardstock vertically at 2", 4", 8" and 10". Make two horizontal cuts from the 2" to the 10" scores lines, 1 1/2 inches from the top and bottom. Crease the paper as shown in the template below - the dots are mountain folds and the dashes are valley folds. 

To decorate my tri-shutter card, I chose an embossing folder from Couture Creations called Uber, and several sets of stamps from Precious Remembrance Shop and CAS-ual Fridays. The sizes for the white embossed and stamped pieces for layering are: 5 1/4" x 1 3/4" (two for sides), 3 3/4" x 2 1/4" (one for center piece), 3 3/4" x 1 1/4" (two for top and bottom), and 1 3/4" x 2 1/4" (two for front and back center.) I stamped with several shades of blue to create this mono-chromatic fun tri-shutter card that would perfect for anyone's special celebration.

The second project I am sharing today features a technique I call Vellum Dimension and another awesome embossing folder from Couture Creations. I cut a round hole in the side of the white piece with a circle die from Spellbinders, then embossed the piece with the Nuevo embossing folder from Couture Creations. I stamped the tiger (from Repeat Impressions) with Ranger black Archival Ink on a vellum piece and set aside to dry for just a few minutes. I stamped the hello (from Crackerbox Palace), cut into a flag and layered onto a piece of torn washi tape. The circle opening is framed with a scalloped circle cut with more Spellbinders dies. 

To create the vellum dimension, turn the tiger vellum piece over and lay on a thick cushioned pad. Rub the back of the vellum with a piece of wax paper, enabling the stylus to move easier. Using the large end of the stylus, very carefully so as to not tear it, "color" the white parts of the tiger. The vellum will stretch and turn white as you "color" in the tiger and it will stand out with great dimension. Here is a picture of me starting the "coloring" with the stylus, and the completed tiger.

I taped the velum piece behind the white embossed layer, and attached the completed piece to a black card. This is the card I am sharing in Madison at the large gathering of stampers I am attending in March called the Madison Mingle. It is also being featured in an article I wrote on the vellum dimension technique to be published by Scrap and Stamp Arts in their October 2014 issue. 

I have been very honored this year to have eight articles published or soon to be published in Scrap and Stamp Arts. This center stair step card is going to be published as part of an article called "Not Your Average Everyday Stair Step Card" in the August issue of Scrap and Stamp Arts. Here are the instructions to create this unique center stair step card: 

*Cut card base 5” by 7 ¼” to make an A2 sized card when completed and folded.

*On back of the piece, mark 1”, 2”, 3” and 4” on both shorter sides of card. (These marks are later erased.)

*We are working on the BACK of the card so everything is opposite of what the front will look like. The picture below shows what it should look like from the back.

*From the BOTTOM LEFT, draw pencil lines from:

1 ½” to 3 ½”   on the ONE inch line  

2” to 4”    on the TWO inch line

2 ½” to 4 ½”   on the THREE inch line

3” to 5”   on the FOUR inch line   (see picture)

*Cut these lines with ruler, utility knife and cutting surface.

*From bottom left, SCORE DOWN from each inch line at:

1 ½” and 3”   (not necessarily the end of the cut line, so pay attention to the measurements for each line.)

2” and 3 ½”

2 ½” and 4”

3” and 4 ½”

3 ½” and 5”   

*Turn card over and Mountain Fold the first scored lines and Valley Fold the 2^nd (or furthest right of the score lines) to form stairs. Here is a template to illustrate these directions:

I embossed the completed blue card base with a snowflake embossing folder (Sizzix.) Then I stamped the Snowball Sequence set of snowmen from Repeat Impressions tumbling down and attached to each stair. I added some punched snowflakes (Martha Stewart) and a “Snow Much Fun” sentiment from Repeat Impressions. I cut the sentiment out with a label die from Spellbinders and added some gems to complete the card.

My last audition card is one I created for my kids at Send a Smile 4 Kids, my charitable blog whose mission is to collect and distribute handmade cards to children who are inpatient in eight children's hospitals. It was originally posted on my blog on 1/18/14 in this blog post.  One of the reasons I love designing cards with embossing folders is they make the cards easy to make, but still fun and unique. To create this CAS card, I started with a diagonally cut pink piece of card stock embossed with Couture Creation's Nuevo embossing folder. The red card base was embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder. The sweet heart sheep is a pre-colored digital image from Doodle Pantry which I printed twice, cut out the hearts and raised them for extra dimension. The sentiment is from The Artful Stamper.

With Valentine's Day coming, I used Doodle Pantry's Heart Sheep to make a Valentine for one of our kids. I printed the pre-colored image twice, cut out both and raised the second layer of hearts up for some added dimension. I embossed the red base card with an embossing folder from Sizzix and the top pink piece with one from Couture Creations. The sentiment is from The Artful Stamper.

We start early thinking about Valentines, because we would love for each of our kids in the hospitals we serve to receive a Valentine and that means delivering them around the 1^st of February. You do not have to send in your cards to enter our challenges, but our kids would sure love it if you did.

My first card above is an easel card made with "My Bunny Valentine" by Rajv's Graphics from Dollar Graphics Depot. She is pre-colored so all I had to do was cut her out with a scalloped heart die from Spellbinders and add some sparkly punched hearts. The sentiment piece that holds up the easel is made with a digi from Doodle Pantry and some more punched sparkly hearts. 

My second Valentine for our kids is a telescoping card using sweet "Happy Valentine's Day to Ewe" digis by Bugaboo. I am sharing pictures of the card closed and open. I paper pieced the Valentine lamb in the top circle, and printed her smaller and colored her in the bottom circle. One advantage of digital stamps is that you can print them any size you would like. I did a little coloring with gel pens and attached thelayers together with brads.

My last Valentine features Nolan with a Heart by Fred She Said. I love colored digis and don't feel a bit guilty about just printing and cutting out to make another CAS Valentine for our kids. I embossed the background with a Cuttlebug embossing folder and did it again to get the pink conversation heart UR GR8.

My first card above features a cute colored image from Doodle Pantry called Toy Truck Ants. I created a "polaroid" frame for the fun image and added the perfect sentiment, also from the same digital set. 

This cute Girl with Chestnuts image is from Milk Coffee Stamps and I paper pieced her fall outfit and boots and colored the rest with my Copics. I cut her out with a Nestabilities scalloped oval die and sponged the edges. The squirrel and nuts border and the fun sentiment were cut out with my Silhouette Portrait using Silhouette America cutting files.

I made a third card this week because I own this awesome skateboarder from Kenny K. and we always need cards for our older boys here at SAS4Kids. This cool digital stamp was already colored and I was so proud to figure out how to cut him with my Silhouette cutting machine! I also cut the Awesome sentiment with my Silhouette and then attached both to an embossed background.

CAS Cards for Kids at SAS4Kids

It’s Saturday and time for another fun challenge at Send a Smile 4 Kids! This time our challenge is CAS Cards 4 Kids. I love CAS (Clean and Simple) cards and so do our kids! There are many ways to define CAS- and you can use your interpretation… but to me, CAS means not super complicated or tons of layers or embellishments. But it does not mean lack of caring or throw a few stickers on a card and call it done. You do not have to donate your card(s) after you enter our challenge, but our kids would sure love it if you did. And remember we are a card only challenge- cuz that is what we are all about- cards for our kids!

Wags n Whiskers and Aud Sentiments Challenges

The challenge at Aud Sentiments is to make a Holiday card with a sentiment on it, and Anything Goes at Wags n Whiskers. I am showing you a CAS card I made for my kids with a fun digital stamp set from Doodle Pantry. I started with a kraft square card and added some rounded layers one of which was embossed. I printed the colored version of the Gingerbread Ants and also a fun sentiment that comes with it. I cut out the sentiment with a nestie and sponged while the paper was still in the nestie.

Yes it is time to start making and sending in your cards for our kids so that every child in our 8 children’s hospitals over the holidays gets a card. And if we have enough, maybe they could also send out or give a card to a loved one they are missing or a teacher or a healthcare worker they want to thank. My second card features a fun digital stamp from Sassy Cheryl's called Santa's Rushed Letter. I paper pieced most of the little boy rushing off to mail his letter to Santa on time. I layered some squares of dp and cardstock diagonally and straight to frame the cute picture in the middle. 

Scrapping Memories is our third sponsor and I decided to try a circle sidestep card made out of kraft dp and printed the sweet Christmas Wreath Calvin for the focal point on this card for one of my kids.
