Honor Flight Cards with More New Dies

We are having a Honor Flight card drive at Harts N Scraps (where I teach classes) and so I am busy making more cards for the next flight our of our area. One of my favorite booths at the Novi MI show was Tall Mouse Cre8tive Artz and I bought several of their inexpensive cover Deal dies there. As you know I love the eclipse look so the stitched corner pieces were raised and inside strip is not. The saluting soldier and sentiment dies are from Dies...to Die For at ShopScrapbook101.com. 

Another Deal background die I bought from Tall Mouse was this stitched stars background that I made two more Honor Flight cards with. I added some stitched stars and the same sentiment as above. 

I used an older but unused die from my stash to make these three fun thank you cards for 3 of the veterans on the next Honor Flight.

New Ways to Eclipse Your Cards with Dies...To Die For

My favorite technique of all time is the Eclipse Technique and in my new video here I share many easy ways to achieve the eclipse look. All the dies you see here and in the video are from Dies...To Die For at ShopScrapbook101.com. The slatted shape dies are available here and are my favorite way to create the eclipse look. You will note the unique shapes and the fact you get many varieties in each set for very reasonable prices. The card above is the one I show how to make in the new video in just a few minutes. The scenery card front is from Divinity Designs. The rectangle eclipse set also includes this choice which I made into a shaker card:

There are 3 hearts to choose from in the Hearts Eclipse die set at Dies...to Die For and I created this lovely sympathy card with one as well as the Rosary Die and a sympathy sentiment die. 

The eclipse look can be achieved with any background paper, solid image and even alphabet dies. I am participating in a card drive for our local Honor Flight and I created this card and the next for the veteran heroes:

This card shows a different way to use one of the rectangle eclipse dies. Here is another set of cards make simply with scenery paper from Crealies and more dies from Dies...To Die For:

Special Request Baby Shower Cards

My daughter is going to a couple baby showers and asked for some cards to match the themes of the showers. The first is a "Tea for Two" shower for a Mom who is having twins- one boy and one girl. I happened to have a die set from Dies...to Die For that is a teapot for  shaped cards with those exact words. Here is the inside of this card:

My daughter is giving gift cards as the gift to each of the moms-to-be. The theme of the second shower is pinks and ribbons and here is the card I made for this one:

The ribbon holds the card closed, but just look at what happens when the ribbon is opened:

I love how this card turned out using a set of dies from Paper Wishes called Standing Pop Up Card from Fabulous Folded Cards. Did you catch the little mistake I made? I picked two different patterned papers for the layering and meant to use them every other one. Oh well- the Mom-to-be (and Dad and Grandma) probably won't notice. But I hope they do love the card and the gift, and display this card with love as it was made. 

Woven Basket Cards In Three Different Sizes Made Easy With Dies from Karen Burniston

Woven baskets that lay flat to mail to say Thank You or Happy Birthday or Happy Easter - anyone would love to receive and display one of those, right? In my newest video here, I show how easy it is to make basket cards in three different sizes with die set from Karen Burniston. Here is the basket card I make step by step in the video:

I show how to combine the Woven Basket Box Card and the new Wide Woven Basket Box Card die sets from Karen Burniston to make this double wide Easter basket card for one of my grandsons in the video. The Happy Spring and Easter eggs, chicks and bunnies are also dies from Karen Burniston and the chocolate bunny with a bite out of the ear was made with a die from Dies...To Die For. Here is a look at the side of this cute Easter box card:

There is a little envelope on the back held to the basket with a round paper clip that I made with the Mini Envelope Maker from Memory Keepers and filled with a personal note and cash gift for my grandson. I have two grandsons, so here is the other Easter basket card I made for my other grandson:

Easter or Spring Cards at Send a Smile 4 Kids

It’s the first Saturday of a new month and time for another fun challenge at Send a Smile 4 Kids! The theme for this challenge is Easter or Spring Cards 4 Kids, but you can choose to participate in our challenge with any card appropriate for a child.

I am sharing a sweet slimline shaker card I made with dies from Impression Obsession, Dies…to Die For and Gina Marie Designs.

Bam! Pop! Surprise Cards and Boxes For the New Year

Kids of all ages love surprises and interactive cards and the projects in my newest video BAM and POP when opened! The secret to that motion is new dies from Karen Burniston and my favorite is the Bam Box Pop Up set! Here is a card I made that is identical to the one I show step by step in the video except for the school colors chosen:

The front is cute and created with a graduation border die from Taylored Expressions, sentiment die from IO and grad hat die from Dies...To Die For. But the real magic happens when the card is opened:

The oval grad gown was created with a die from Trinity Stamps and pops up BAM when the card is opened which you can see much better in the new video here.

Another fun way to surprise a recipient with the Bam Box is to put it in a Slider Box created with another new die from the newest release at Karen Burniston. I decorated this one with a layered heart die from Birch Press Designs. Just look what pops up with the ribbon is pulled:

The Bam Box is easy to put together and really creates a fun surprise when it pops as I show in the new video. I used a couple dies from Lawn Fawn and Karen Burniston to create the message for a friend on Valentine's Day with a candy treat inside.

I also show another fun way to surprise someone special with the Slider Box in the new video. It is better to see the action in the video of course, but here are a couple pictures showing what pops up in this box:

Those boxes pop way up and were created with the new Surprise Cube Pop Up die set and under them is a gift card. The butterflies and foiled mirror card are from Paper Wishes, and I used another favorite Karen Burniston die on the front for the Happy Birthday wish.

More Cards with More Ways to Add Amazing Color to 3D Embossed Images

I just couldn't resist this new embossing folder and die cut combo from Simon Says Stamp which is perfect for Christmas and winter cards. I colored the birdhouse (cut and embossed with a dark brown cardstock originally) with Prima's Aged Brass Metallique Wax and added sparkle and texture to the snow with Nuvo's Fresh Snowfall Glitter Accents. I normally use my fingers to add the Metallique Waxes as I show in the new video, but the pine needles and cones were too small so I used a very small sponge tool with more Aged Brass and Mint Sparkle Metallique Waxes. The little cardinal die is from IO. The die cut sentiment from Dies...to Die For finishes on the inside of the card with stitched interest added by a rectangle die from Kat Scrappiness:

I was enabled by a card I saw by Stamp Owl to rush out and buy the Easy Fold Diamond Fold die cut set from Creative Craft Products and I made a double version of this card in the new video. I used three different ways to add gorgeous color to the 3D Crafter's Companion Flourishing Holly Corner embossed image and added my favorite Christmas wishes die cut from Penny Black to the inside.

Most of the time the Metallique Waxes look best over dark cardstock and I tried the White Pearl on both of these cards made with Tim Holtz's Sizzix Roses 3D embossing folder, but I didn't like the look.  So I added the Blue Lagoon and Aged Brass over the White Pearl and like the roses much better. The 4th way to add color to embossed images in my new video is Nuvo's Glacier Paste which is on the embossed butterfly (from Pink and Main.) I have found that all the glitter pastes from every company I have bought all dried up after time no matter what I did to try to prevent that. But my Nuvo Glacier Paste is as soft and creamy as ever, and is a pretty way to add sparkle to any color of embossed images.

Stencils and Dies With Gilders Paste Wax

Another beautiful way to use Gilders Paste Wax is to apply it through stencils as I did on this card and the next one from my newest video. On both I started with debossed background dies from Memory Box and on this one I applied bronze Gilders Paste Wax through a stencil from Gina K Designs. 

This dragonfly stencil is from A Colorful Life Designs and on both cards I added embellishments also colored with Gilders Paste Wax. 

The Gilders Paste Wax when applied to cardstock embossed with 3D embossing folders (and regular embossing folders too) is so pretty all you need to do is add a die cut and the result is a gorgeous card. I used a Simon Says Stamp embossing folder and highlighted one of the flowers with a die from Birch Press Designs called String Art Circle Collage. I am going to decide later if I should add a sentiment to these cards including the next one which features a new die from Tutti Designs called Rose Frame and an Altenew embossing folder:

This card features a pretty 3D embossing folder from Sizzix and Tim Holtz called Swirls with Bronze Gilders Paste Wax on the top portion. The vase and flowers are dies from Dies...To Die For and I added African Silver wax over the embossing on the vase.
