Christmas Acetate Card

I create holiday cards all year for my in home classes and also so I don't have to rush to get them done in December. I love making acetate cards even though they do not photograph well. I embossed the front of this acetate card with a snowflake embossing folder from Sizzix. I used a Lil' Inker stitched rectangle die that is A2 sized to die cut the center white piece and attached a beautiful Merry Christmas ornament die cut from Memory Box. Anything that gets glued or attached with tape to an acetate card has to be covered in the back to hide the adhesive. So I die cut another stitched rectangle from the same Lil' Inker set and embossed it with a Crafts Too embossing folder. Here are photos of the back and the side view: 

Card Mania and Love to Scrap Challenges

Punches and/or Diecuts is the theme at both Card Mania and Love to Scrap Challenges this week and I am sharing one of my favorite cards I have created recently. I have been having so much fun with my new dress dies from Stampin' Up! I started with a white card with rounded edges that I embossed with a new embossing folder from Darice. The shoe is from another new embossing folder by Craft-Too. I used all three dies in the set from SU and cut the "sweater" out of the dress with the capped sleeves. I added some pearls for buttons and a necklace and a gem on the shoe to complete the card. Loving it, and hope the members of the new class sessions in my home will too (sign up is going on right now for June- November classes.)

Simon Says Stamp and Paper Take Weekly Challenges

Happy Birthday is the theme at Simon Says Stamp this week, and at Paper Take Weekly, anything goes. I am sharing a special birthday card I made for my best friend Jane. I had so much  fun playing with my new dress die cuts from Stampin' Up and a new fancy shoe embossing folder from Crafts Too. The card base is a  twisted easel and I embossed the triangular shape on the bottom and raised it with pop dots to hold up the easel top. I die cut the dress frame in kraft and the dress in a sparkly black. I added another layer to the dress, a sparkly red belt and a flower. A jewel necklace was the finishing touch.

For my card, I stamped the versatile Ornament Frame on a subtle blue designer paper. I stamped the perfect sentiment (also from Repeat Impressions of course) inside the ornament frame and cut it out. I added some punched out snowflakes and a pearl and hung the ornament from an embossed background by Crafts Too.

Crafty Boots and Stamps R Us Challenges

The challenge this week at Crafty Boots is anything goes and at Stamps R Us it is embossing. I just love this new embossing folder I got from Crafts Too and have used it in several of my new cards this season. The corner punch is from Martha Stewart and the 3D digital stamp is from Cuddly Buddly. All together they make a lovely CAS holiday card.

Critter Sketch Summer Sun Challenge

The challenge this week at Critter Sketch is to create a project that has an image of the sun. This can be a card showing the rays of the sun, the sun itself or even a project of a sun catcher - use your imagination! For my card I used an embossing folder from Crafts Too and my large circle nestie to create my summer sun. The Summer Clothesline stamp is from Repeat Impressions and I paper pieced the towels and swimsuits and colored the rest with my copics. The sunglasses brad is the final touch for this CAS summer card.

Isn't this elephant in a bikini by Freshly Brewed Designs just the sweetest summer image? I printed her on grey paper and paper pieced her bikini, bow and ice cream. Too cute! The sand was made with cork paper and I used a Crafts Too embossing folder for the sun behind her. Sweet!

Aud Sentiments & Little Darlings Challenges and Exciting News!!

The challenge this week at Aud Sentiments is "Summertime" and at Little Darlings Challenge it is "Summer." I made a telescoping card with some fun summertime stamps and diecuts. A tutorial on how to make the telescoping card can be found here. It is not hard and makes a fun card. I started with some awesome stamps from Raisin Boat. I just love the chairs and the sand looks so real. I can image relaxing in that chair and looking out into the water.

The second panel has flip flops from Sizzix and a sun embossing folder from Crafts Too. The third panel has more fun summer diecuts from Sizzix. I typed the saying "Hope you're having a Flippin' Great Summer" on the computer and cut it out with a SU word punch. A ribbon on the top and some brads and the card is complete.

Now my exciting news! Our local JoAnn Fabric and Crafts Store (Wausau, Wisconsin) is totally remodeling and will be offering classes starting in July and guess who they hired to teach stamping and scrapbooking?!? Me! (and another friend who is a fantastic stamper too!) There is an open house to see the remodeled store and sign up for classes at HALF PRICE on July 9th from 1-3. I will be there with class samples and demoing as well. I will also be looking for suggestions on what you would like me to teach. If you can't make it in that day, be sure to call that day to sign up for the classes (regular price per corporate is $30, so half price will be $15. Same applies to other classes offered.) My first class is a Pop Up Card Class and is scheduled for July 28th from 6-8 pm and August 9th from 1-3 pm. I will probably be posting the actual cards being taught here, but I have to design them and get them over to JoAnns first.

Send a Smile 4 Kids Room Fold Card

The challenge at Send a Smile 4 Kids this week is Anything Goes and since I can enter twice, I am doing another before I leave on vacation for two reasons: it is a great cause I want to promote and I just had to share this awesome new card fold I learned from this post by a fellow Rock Star.

Isn't this cute? And easy to make. Harriet's card was like a little living room, but I decided to make mine an outdoors scene. If you go to the post, there is a tutorial link that shows exactly how to make these Triangle Room Fold cards. Mine features stamps by Paper Smooches on the front and popping up on the inside. The tree embossing folder is from Crafts Too and I used cork paper for the ground.

Send a Smile 4 Kids collects cards for kids in the hospital. Right now they are looking for Easter cards, but they accept cards for any holiday and birthdays and any happy cards for kids who could use some cheering up. Visit their website for more details on how you can help them help kids.

Stamp Simply Gone Askew #140

 

The challenge this week at Stamp Simply is to place something "askew" on our cards. I love the sentiment from DRS stamps and thinks that qualifies, but I also put the darker pink and white pieces "askew" before I added the butterfly also at an angle. This is one of those cards that look so much better in person than on the photo. The smaller pieces are also embossed before adding the butterfly which is an older SU stamp that I embossed with black sparkly embossing powder on velum, colored from the back with Copics and cut out.

The butterfly embossing folder is a new one I was so excited to find from a new company (to me) Crafts-Too and is available with some other very cool new ones at Cropstop. I ordered four new ones (including a new heart one from Cuttlebug that I have never seen, but I think was an European exclusive) and there was no shipping or handling costs and I got them in just a couple days! You will see them in my cards in the next few weeks.
