More Woven Cards Made Easy with Sue Wilson's Intermediate Weaving Die

I had so much fun creating woven cards for my newest video with the Sue Wilson Creative Expressions Intermediate Weaving Die I had a hard time stopping:) Isn't this baby quilt woven card cute with those pastel woven layers and a pretty frame die from Spellbinders? The Patchwork Elephant is a die from Impression Obsession and I added a sentiment strip from Taylored Expressions.

My favorite weaving as I show in the video is the double strip weaving especially when I added some gold glitter paper as I did on this patriotic colored card. The small gold stars were cut with dies from Crealies and Celebrate is a die from Tonic Studios.

I hope my card and video inspire you to try these products and weaving on your cards.

Video - Die Cut Crazy Series: Weaving Cards Made Easy with Creative Expressions Dies

In my newest video I share many cards with weaving made so easy with the Creative Expressions Intermediate Weaving Die.  I love the stitching on the strips and the die makes weaving super simple to do!

After playing with the weaving I decided I liked the double strips look the best and this is the card I show how to make in the video. In all of my weaving cards I started by creating some kind of frame and on this card I cut a large butterfly with a Stampendous die. I cut strips with the Intermediate Weaving Die out of gold and black Mirror Card and black and gold dotted paper from Tonic Studios as well as white and wove them as I show in the video. Celebrate You is a die from Karen Burniston and I added gold embossing powder just on the bottom for some extra glitz.

When I started making cards I did single strip weaving with the weaving die and that is pretty too. I chose one of my favorite color combos - aqua blue and coral and framed my weaving with a frame die from Kat Scrappiness. The scripty "celebrate" is a die from Tonic Studios.

Single weaving can be really pretty with the stitching on the dies, glittery cardstock and adding some tiny strips for interest. I die cut an open heart with a die from Tonic Studios and created the woven background with the Creative Expressions Intermediate Weaving Die. Forever is a die from Stamplorations and as usual I added some of the favorite gems from Gina Marie Designs. Since these cards are part of my ongoing Die Cut Crazy Video Series, I used more dies on the inside of this wedding card:

The heart die is from Elizabeth Crafts and Mr. & Mrs. are dies from Honey Bee Stamps.

I made many more quilt cards with this great die set, so be sure to watch the video here. I hope my cards and video inspire you to try some weaving on your cards!

Bonus Video - Gift Card Boxes That Explode With Fun Pop Up Presents

I received a new die set this week and has so much fun with it I made a bunch of gift card boxes and a new bonus video for you! The die set is Gift Card Box and Exploding Presents from Simply Made Crafts and Helen Griffin.

This is a pretty gift box and presents but could be considered boring until you see someone open it. You will want to watch the video to see the full effect and how easy these are to make, but here is a peak at a dear friend opening her present with a gift card to our favorite local craft store in it:

Isn't that fun? Every one of the gift card boxes I share in the video explode with presents and fun! Here are a few more I made:

I purchased the die set from Craftstash US and here is a link to that particular set. The die set has 17 different pieces and is very reasonably priced at just over $20. Craftstash ships out of the UK and so it takes a bit longer to get and shipping costs about $10. I always shop around and find many dies and papers I want all reasonably priced even with the shipping and recommend them very highly. I do not know of a USA shop who carries Simply Made Crafts products.

If you could use a fun surprise - as we all could these days - watch the video here and see if you agree these make giving a gift card so much more fun!

Die Cut Crazy Video Slimline Cards with Slimline Dies

In my newest Die Cut Crazy video, I share many slimline cards I made with new slimline dies. I created this bridge card with a bubbles background die from Divinity Designs. The sentiment is "floating" on acetate and was cut with a die from Impression Obsession. The mermaids and fish are also from IO.

I created this "batty" Halloween card with a slimline die from Whimsy Stamps, a sentiment stamp from Stampendous and bat and ghost dies from Karen Burniston. The see through windows are a sneak peak at some new products from Maker Forte and a technique I am teaching in a two day virtual Hedgehog Hollow-Days September 26-27. You can read all about it and get a discount code here.

I created this Joy eclipse slimline card with a larger stitched slimline die from Pinkfresh Studio and alphabet dies from Kat Scrappiness. The Clear Views Transparency is framed with dies from Crealies and the snowflakes are from Impression Obsession.

These are just a few of the slimline cards with slimline dies I show in my newest video here.

There is still time to watch and comment on my video from Saturday which is part of a video hop and you can win the card I made in the video and a prize package of dies valued at over $50, so after watching this new video, take a minute to watch and comment on the Jack-O-Lantern video and maybe you will be the lucky winner!

Video - Die Cut Crazy Video Series - Unique Slimline Cards With Slimline Dies

I am die cut crazy and know we can make slimline cards without slimline dies. But the dies make the cards so much more interesting and fun as I show in my newest video here. This is the card I show how to make in the video:

I cut all the stitched slimline dies from a set by Kat Scrappiness and taped them together before brushing on colorful ink. I framed a Clear Views Transparency picture in a new Love Ornament die from Hero Arts.

One of my favorite new slimline dies is this leafy border slimline dies from Trinity Stamps. I cut it in dark green and vellum and layered them on a green woodgrain cardbase. The scripty "hello" is a die from Tonic Studios.

The shattered slimline die that is the background on this fall card is a new die from The Ton. I filled in the puzzle with embossed gold, polka-dotted green and orange pieces. "Happy Hello" is a die from Karen Burniston as is the gold maple leaf, and the other two leaves were cut with stitched dies from Impression Obsession.

I had so much fun making slimline cards with slimline dies that I made many more and share them in the video here.

I am so excited to be participating in a Halloween Video Hop today and in my video, I am showing how to make a fun jack-o-lantern pop up card.

Isn't this pop up pumpkin cute? As I show in the video, I made him with Karen Burniston's Bitty Ball die set and he lays flat to mail and pops up when the card is opened. I am a huge fan of Karen Burniston's dies and if you are the lucky commenter on the video here, you could win THREE KAREN BURNISTON DIE SETS VALUED AT OVER $50! (Comments here do not qualify.) The rules and details for this giveaway and blog hop are in the description box of the video here. Here is a closeup view and what the card looks like closed.

I also used dies from Kat Scrappiness, The Paper Cut and Tonic Studios in my interactive Halloween card. Crafty Chefs September Recipe Card

I love a good challenge and I found a new Facebook group called Crafty Chefs where they post a list of prompts to challenge us to make card with each month. Here is the September challenge:

I love that color combo but forget to use it. I added sparkle to my square card with a foiled butterfly and Tonic Studios Iridescent Mirror Card. I die cut the stitched squares using dies from Crealies and then embossed with a new embossing folder from Creative Expressions called Retro Poinsettia.

More Fantastic Fall Fun Fold Cards From My Newest Video

I love fun fold cards but sometimes they are so hard to figure out how to cut and score and add layers and this lever card from my newest video was so easy to make because I treated myself to the Lever Die Set from Divinity Designs and their gorgeous Festive Fall Paper pack. I know I can cut rectangles to layer but the c-shaped piece on the left would be almost impossible to cut without the die and the lever main pieces are so easy with this die set. Blessings was cut with a die from Tonic Studios. Here are some more views of this lever card:

One of the pieces of slimline sized paper in the Festive Fall paper pack was this lovely horizontal pumpkin scene which I cut out with a stitched slimline die from Pinkfresh Studio. Thankful is a die from Gina K Designs. I knew I wanted to try a 3D fun fold idea I saw on Frances Byrne's blog, but since I wanted mine horizontal I adjusted the idea and show how to do that in the new video. Here is how my inside pop up looks:

Very Exciting Announcement and Sneak Peak!

I am sooo excited to share with you that I am one of the teachers in the two day virtual Hedgehog Hollow-Days from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on September 26 and 27th! There will be 10 different classes over the two days and door prizes from many sponsors each hour! If you sign up for the two day virtual event, you will receive links to the classes so you can refer back to them and see any you might have to miss for any reason.

Alexandra Stapleton-Smith of Hedgehog Hollow released a video today with more details and showing what is in the craft box you can purchase in addition to the class ticket. (There is a tour of her new home for the first 2 minutes and then the details on the class kit and event.) BEFORE YOU WATCH THAT, please note that I have a 10% discount code KAREN10, so please use my code, not the one she lists in the video.

The ten classes and hourly prizes etc. are a great bargain at $54.99 (or $49.49 with my code) and you can purchase just that, OR get the class box of paper, stamps, confetti, glitter etc. valued at $75 for $34.99 ($31.49 with my code) OR get both for $74.99 (or $67.50 with my discount code.)

Here is a link to the website where you can sign up under the Catalog Tab. The first options there are for a Bundle that would also include another virtual set of classes in November. But for the classes on September 26 and 27th (with or without the craft box) choose one of those three September options.

I have some of the confetti and stamps and paper from Alexandra's new Maker Forte company (launching tomorrow) and it is awesome. Here is a peak at something I will be sharing in my class video:

If you have any questions, you can contact me via the Contact on the side of the blog or email me at khasheck at gmail dot com. I sure hope you can join me and the other teachers in this virtual event!

Video - How To Make Fantastic Fun Fold and Triple Cube Cards

I love the colors of fall and also love making fun fold cards, so I combined those two loves to make the cards for my new video. Have you seen the many triple cube cards all over internetland? I decided to try one and show you how I made this one in the video:

There was a very good tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers on how to make a triple cube card but I wanted to make a larger version so I figured out those measurements and share them in the video. I liked the idea for the sentiment on the top center that I learned from Sam of Mixed Up Crafts so as I show in the video, that is how I attached the oval and sentiment. I used Gina Marie Designs Pierced Chain oval and slimline dies (on the back.) The rounded corner stitched square die is from My Favorite Things and the sentiment is a die from Karen Burniston. All the gorgeous fall leafy paper on this and all my cards is from the new Festive Fall Slimline Sized paper from Divinity Designs. Here are a couple more views:

This triple cube card lays flat to mail in a square envelope. Here is another great idea I share in the video

Wouldn't this be lovely on your Thanksgiving table? I die cut Bright Rosa's Foliage Sprigs in several colors of mirror  and glitter cardstock but you could use floral stems or twigs from the craft store in yours.

I share several more fantastic fall fun fold cards in my new video and hope you will watch it and try some of the ideas I share.

The Power of Practice Blog Hop Birthday Card and Prize You Could Win!

Are you a new cardmaker or blogger? Or do you ever look at someone else's cards or blogpost and wish yours were more professional or just better? I have and so have many of the bloggers who are hopping today. I started making cards 20 years ago and started blogging 10 years ago. Here is the card I CASED from a blog post of mine in May of 2010

Nothing wrong with this card- in fact I kept the same sketch and colors. Here is my new card:

I now own many stitched dies (the square ones in my new card are from Crealies) and think they add so much to a card's design. I also own many more sentiment dies and I used a My Favorite Things circular happy birthday die and a pretty "celebrate" stamp from Elizabeth Crafts along with favorite gems from Gina Marie Designs on my new card. I like the new card more because of these changes and much more creative experience.

I think if you look at the blogpost (linked above) from May of 2010, you will see where blogging and taking pictures has greatly improved through practice for me. My pictures are much brighter and I now title my blogposts in a better way too.  I also have a professional watermark now.

One thing that has not changed through time is I love to use humor on my cards. The inside of the card from 10 years ago said: "Keep this up and pretty soon you will be older than dirt." Here is the inside of this card:

This funny sentiment is also from Elizabeth Crafts in Suzanne Cannon's gorgeous calligraphy.

I appreciate your visit today and am offering a prize you could win by commenting on this blog post before September 19, 2020 (if you have a mailing address in the USA. Please tell me in your comment where you live.) To earn extra entries, tell me if you are a follower of my blog (picture on the side of the blog), and/or if you are a subscriber of my YouTube channel here, and/or if you are a follower of my Instagram here (leave a comment there on the post of my card.) You  could win the sweet stamp set from Gina K Designs called "You Make Me Happy" and a Birthday Cut Out Die from Die-Versions shown here:

I am entering this card in the humor challenge at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday.

To see more "The Power of Practice" comparisons, be sure to keep hopping. The next stop on this blog hop is: Vicki Parson at https://stampedsmiles.com/2020/09/12/the-power-of-practice-blog-hop/
