Send A Smile 4 Kids Teens and Tweens Cards

It’s the first Saturday of a new month and time for another fun challenge at Send a Smile 4 Kids! The theme for this challenge is Teens and Tweens Cards, but you can choose to participate in our challenge with any card appropriate for a child.

My card is a slimline with handmade large sequins. The stencil and stamp are from Maker Forte and I sprayed Shiny Ocean Izink Spray through the stencil before adding a few moe small sequins.

Happy St. Patrick's Day Shaker Card

I am not Irish but we can all celebrate St. Patrick's Day, right? Especially after the year we have all had and the hope we now have for 2021! I recently received a surprise in the mail from Maker Forte' and opened it to find a lovely note and the Maker Forte' St. Paddy's Day Lucky Truck Stamp Set! I decided to use it as the centerpiece of a shaker card made with hearts created with Dies...To Die For Torn Heart dies. I filled the shaker with Gold Star Confetti also from Maker Forte' and a perfect Sparkle Blend Sequin Mix called Test Your Luck (along with seed beads that help them move freely.) Video - Karen Burniston Bitty Ball Pop Up Cards For Kids of All Ages

My favorite kind of card to make are interactive cards that pop up when opened and in my newest video here I share 5 more pop up cards for kids of all ages made with Karen Burniston's Bitty Ball Pop-Up die set. This is the card I show how to make in the video:

The  front has a gorgeous layered die from Sue Wilson and Creative Expressions called Wishing You Brighter Days. The card style is a gatefold card. Here is a look at the inside when the card is opened:

The frame was created with Poppystamps Adriana Pop-Up Easel die set and the sentiment is from Sue Wilson. I used Maker Forte leaves and seed beads in my shaker. The pictures show a lovely card, but just can't do the card justice because this center pops up using the Karen Burniston Bitty Ball. Isn't that cool? I was inspired to use the bitty ball to pop up shaker frames from some brilliant cards by Ingrid Candanedo she posted in the Karen Burniston Pop Up Peeps Facebook group and here is a link to the first one she shared.

I was having too much fun with this new way to use my Bitty Ball Pop-Up die, so I created two more cards with the shaker frame inside. Above is the front of a birthday card I made with a bow die from Kat Scrappiness and a sentiment from Sue Wilson. But look at what pops up when the card is opened:

Of course the popping motion and the card itself is easier to see in the video, but I used Taylored Expressions Streamers Frame and seed beads and little presents from Trinity Stamps inside the shaker frame. The "Celebrate Big" is from Cutplorations and of course behind the frame is the Bitty Ball from Karen Burniston. Here is one more gatefold pop up surprise card I created: 

Ingrid's card and the last two cards above use a belly band to hold them closed. Here is a peak at the inside of this card after the belly band is removed: 

The "doggie in the window" shaker frame was created with an older die from Tonic Studios. To see these three cards and two more much better as they pop up and the shaker elements move, watch the new video here.

Winter Cards 4 Kids OR Anything Goes 4 Kids At Send a Smile 4 Kids

It’s the first Saturday of a new month and time for another fun challenge at Send a Smile 4 Kids! Again this year, all challenges at SAS4Kids are Anything Goes 4 Kids! We will often have an alternative theme that you can choose to follow, but are not required to. Create and link any card that is appropriate for a child and your card could be chosen as one of our top three cards and you could join us as a guest dt member on a future challenge. We are also continuing as a monthly challenge so new challenges will be posted on the first Saturday of every month and you will have a whole month to make and link your cards.

 

The theme for this challenge is: Winter Cards 4 Kids Or Anything Goes 4 Kids. As always, be sure to check the current needs page before sending any cards in and stay safe and healthy. 

I made my winter card with a perfect sentiment die from Cutplorations and a joyful snowman from Penny Black. The textured snow in the sky and snowbank was created with Maker Forte’s Marshmallow Paste and a heat gun.

Two Winter Shaker Cards With New Products

I am sharing a couple new shaker cards I made with new holiday products before it is too late to show Christmas cards. I love pinpoint cover dies that add such fun easy texture to a card and on the card above I used the new Memory Box Snowflake Pinpoint Plate for the card background. Inside my mug (made with a Gina Marie Designs die) are chocolate, candy and marshmallow shaker bits from Maker Forte. The warm wishes border die is from Memory Box and I used a  brand new sentiment die from Sue Wilson on the inside of this sweet winter card: 

I foiled the front of this shaker card with a new Many Flakes Toner Design sheet from Unity and Therm O Web called Snow Many Flakes and cut a snowflake opening (die from Impression Obsession) for my shaker. The JOY and snowflake are dies from WPlus9. Inside the shaker are pastel snowflakes and Snowy Day II sequins from Kat Scrappiness. I love to make shaker cards and was happy to get a chance to make a couple more holiday cards with these great products.

The first card I show in the video is this fun snowy hugs slimline card I made with a cute Whimsy Stamps stamp set called Frosty Hugs and their stitched Card Builder Slimline die set. The stamps are from Whimsy Stamps Snow Flurry and Frosty Hugs stamp sets and the slimline die is called Marquee Slimline Die, the first slimline die I ever bought. I show in the video how to stamp with white pigment ink inside a laminating pouch (idea from Jennifer McGuire) and how to make the snowy shaker. Video - Simply Made Pinwheel Cards For All Reasons and Seasons

I have always liked the look of pinwheel cards but thought they looked too difficult to make until recently when I found the Pinwheel Card Die Set by Helen Griffin for Simply Made Crafts. In my newest video here, I show how easy it is to make a unique pinwheel card with this die set and a bunch of pinwheel cards I made for the holidays and for other seasons.

This is the card I made in the video, although with different papers. I loved the idea from Jennifer McGuire's recent video where she showed how to attach ornaments to a belly band that the recipient can take off and hang on their trees or in their home. I incorporated that idea into the pinwheel card which I show how to make in the video. 

Here is a look at the inside of this card as well as the ornament I made with the layered Radiant Ornament dies from Birch Press Designs. 

I don't own a lot of two sided designer paper (light weight works the best.) So I attached Memory Box's Woodland Watercolor Sprigs wide washi tape to the back of a plaid paper and then cut out the Pinwheel Card die. Wide washi tape like this one looks totally different depending on what cardstock you attach it to. So the belly band is the same wide washi tape over green cardstock and the flaps and inside (below) were created with the wide washi tape over white cardstock. 

I created a Christmas mug with a Gina Marie Designs die and cut out the center to create a shaker with Maker Forte's candy canes and chocolate and other candies as well as some beads. "For You" is a die from Crealies. Here is a look at the inside where I made a pocket  for a gift card and the pretty paper is Memory Box wide washi tape on the white back of the plaid paper. 

I had so much fun creating pinwheel cards so easily with the Simply Made Crafts Pinwheel Card Die set for this video and hope my cards and the new video here encourage you to give these a try!

Crafty Chefs October Challenge Tag

I am having fun with a new challenge Facebook group called Crafty Chefs. Each month the host chef posts some prompts for us to use to make a crafty project. Here are the October prompts:

I decided to create a tag with a pocket and of course I used plenty of dies since I am die cut crazy.  My analogous colors were blue, blue violet and violet and I used my blending brushes to blend them on a piece of Perfect Blend Cardstock from Maker Forte. Here is another look at my tag:

I embossed the blended front with an embossing folder from Taylored Expressions. The back was die cut with a die from Elizabeth Crafts out of Tonic Studios mirror card and also embossed with snowflakes. I added some pretty ribbon, a "for you" scripty sentiment (from Tonic Studios) and a gift card from JoAnns. 

Anyone can join the Facebook group and you can choose to participate or not and do your project anytime, even months later. It is laid back and fun, but also a challenge to make something I would not have made without the challenge. Why don't you come join us?

Slimline See Through Cards With Laminating Pouches From My Newest Video

I had so much fun making see through cards with laminating pouches for my newest video, that I made a total of seven cards for the video. The four I am sharing today are slimline and this fall card has leaves and confetti in a colored laminating pouch as well as a pretty slimline die from Rubbernecker. Here is a peak at the inside of this card:

I love this leaf die from Gina Marie designs and the sentiment is from Gina K Designs.

Here is another slimline card with a colored laminating pouch filled with snowflakes and confetti. "Christmas Blessings" is a die from Sue Wilson and "Peace, Love & Joy" is a die from Penny Black. I added some silver punched snowflakes with gems from Gina Marie Designs.

This faux shaker slimline card features a window slimline die from Whimsy Stamps and the butterfly is a layered die from Birch Press Design. I call it a faux shaker because all the windows look like I shook a shaker but the confetti stays in one place. 

This card also features a slimline die from Whimsy Stamps and confetti and glitter from Maker Forte. The top two windows are faux shakers but the bottom window has confetti inside the window and also is a real shaker with beads and confetti that move.

Video - See Through Cards Made Easy With Laminating Pouches

I was inspired by an idea from Jennifer McGuire and some new flat confetti I received recently for a class I taught to try some see through cards with laminating pouches and had so much fun making cards with this easy awesome technique that I share seven cards in my newest video here! 

I show how easy it is to make a see through card cover with laminating pouches in the video and fill it with fun confetti like the butterflies in all sizes you see here. I started with Tonic Studio's blue mirror card and die cut the butterfly edger die from Gemini. On the inside you can see "Sending Hugs" cut with dies from Sizzix and Lawn Fawn.

I made this thank you card for a class I taught with confetti, glitter and paper from a new company called Maker Forte. The stamps are from Waffle Flower.

Here is a holiday card I made with the see through laminating pouch in the middle filled with snowflakes and stars confetti. "Believe" is a die from Tonic Studios.

Die Cut Crazy Video Slimline Cards with Slimline Dies

In my newest Die Cut Crazy video, I share many slimline cards I made with new slimline dies. I created this bridge card with a bubbles background die from Divinity Designs. The sentiment is "floating" on acetate and was cut with a die from Impression Obsession. The mermaids and fish are also from IO. 

I created this "batty" Halloween card with a slimline die from Whimsy Stamps, a sentiment stamp from Stampendous and bat and ghost dies from Karen Burniston. The see through windows are a sneak peak at some new products from Maker Forte and a technique I am teaching in a two day virtual Hedgehog Hollow-Days September 26-27. I created this Joy eclipse slimline card with a larger stitched slimline die from Pinkfresh Studio and alphabet dies from Kat Scrappiness. The Clear Views Transparency is framed with dies from Crealies and the snowflakes are from Impression Obsession.
