Video - Spinner Cards 3 Ways - Front and Center and Inside Too

I love to make interactive cards, and my newest video features three different ways to make spinner cards. In the video, I show how to make this inside spinner card: 

I used Stampin' up's Silicone Craft Sheet to stamp a reverse image of the Inkadinkado bird which spins in t he center of the pop up center. I forgot to mention in the video that the teal inside piece was cut to 6 3/4" x 10" and scored in half and again at 3 inches from both sides to form the M with a die cut oval center cut out. The HB die is from Simon Says Stamp and the birds are from Sizzix. The front of this card is a homage to one of my most pinned and favorite cards of all time:

I show how I subtly stenciled the background with a Memory Box stencil and attached the layered sentiment from Tonic Studios and the leafy branch from Cheery Lynn. Poppy Stamp's Serene Bird was cut out of two sided sticky tape on cardstock and then covered with Nuvo Snow Glow Sparkle ultra fine glitter. I embossed the bird with a Crafter's Companion embossing folder and colored with peach and yellow distress inks. 

I love how this card came out both on the front and the inside spinner and hope you will watch the new video to see the process and many other spinner cards I made.

Video - CAS Softly Stenciled Sympathy Cards

Even though we wish we didn't, we all need sympathy cards sometimes, and in my newest video I am sharing many sympathy cards I made with softly brushed stencils along with favorite stamps and dies. 

This is one of the cards I make in the video. The background was made with softly brushing on inks through a The Crafter's Workshop stencil and then I overstamped with stamps from Inkadinkado. The card was very easy to make, but will be perfect the next time I need a sympathy card.

I also show in the video how we can make our own stencils and for this card I die cut a rounded corner rectangle from Spellbinders out of vellum and then brushed on the blue fading out as I moved up the paper. Then I simply stamped the feather and birds from Visible Image and a perfect sentiment from Penny Black.

Distress Oxide Sponged Fall Cards

I recently played with my Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks with some friends and will be sharing the cards I made here on my blog. Today I am showing two cards I made with a stencil I created using a large leaf die from Stampendous cut out from an acetate sheet. I taped the stencil down with temporary tape and sponged on Fired Brick, Spiced Marmalade and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide inks through the leaf stencil. Then I stamped the beautiful fall bird from Inkadinkado before removing the stencil. I layered that piece on black and then onto a gold cardbase. I attached the Thinking of You die cut from Papertrey Ink and dotted the i's with black pearls. 

My second card is similar but I chose a different angle for the sponged leaf and then stamped with a Penny Black trees stamp. I added a "thankful" die cut from Gina K and layered the card front on black and gold.

Since the die I used on the first card is NBUS, I am entering it in the NBUS challenge here on Darnell's blog. 

A Christmas Retiform Grid Card

Yesterday I shared another retiform or grid card with a link to a tutorial where I learned how to do this fun technique. If you missed it, you can scroll down to the last blog post. I make Christmas cards all year round to share with my classes and to make sure I am not rushed later in the year. For this Christmas retiform card, I sponged with Broken China Distress Oxide ink and stamped with Ranger Archival Cobalt Blue. Most of the stamps are from a set by Gina K and I filled in with some snowflakes from Inkadinkado.

The Blues Twisted Easel Card

I used mostly shades of blue in creating this twisted easel card. The stamps are all from Inkadinkado. The "enjoy" label is popped up to hold up the easel. I used a Martha Stewart punch to create the scalloped edge. Here is a picture with the "twisted easel" closed.

Vellum Layered Thinking of You Card

I recently took a couple of stamping classes at Online Card Classes and one of the ideas they shared was to layer several layers of vellum on a card with stamping on each layer. I tried it on this card and am loving how it turned out. The flowers (from Inkadinkado) were stamped in various inks on three layers of vellum, and then I stamped the sentiment (from Woodware) on the top layer. I attached them at the top of a top folding white card base and rounded all the bottom corners. I placed a piece of black script washi tape along the top of the card, which hid the adhesive beautifully.

Stampin' with the Dragon and Sentimental Sunday Challenges

Fall Colors is the theme at Stampin' with the Dragon Challenge this week and at Sentimental Sunday the theme is Autumn using a sentiment. I made this card last year but never blogged it, so will try hard to remember what companies products I used. It is an easel card with the leaf piece popped up to hold up the top part. The border punch is from Martha Stewart and I put fall colored card stock behind the leaf holes. The tree silhouette stamp is from Inkadinkado and I masked a moon and sponged the rest in orange. The sentiment and the leaf stamp are from TPC Studios. I attached a couple of the leaves from the cut outs to complete the fall card.

Stampin' For The Weekend and Emergency Crafters Challenges

The challenge this week at Stampin' for the Weekend is Bugs or Butterflies and Anything with Wings will do at Emergency Crafters Challenge. I am sharing a card I created for a fun folds class at JoAnns and had never blogged before. It is an Origami Diamond Fold Card. Here is a link to a tutorial on how make one.

These pictures show how it looks as it is opened. I used Inkadinkado Stamps and a Martha Stewart butterfly punches.

Craft Your Passion and Lollipop Crafts Challenges

Anything Goes this week at Craft Your Passion and CAS is the theme at Lollipop Crafts. Those are my favorite challenges and style! I saw this set of Inkadinkado stamps at my local JoAnns store and just had to buy it. I love silhouette stamps and I couldn't resist this one. I stamped on a piece of white cardstock, rounded the corners and punched the Martha Stewart seashells border on top. I created an oval shaped hole with my nesties and sponged some blue and light brown inside the mask.

Flutterby Wednesday and Divas By Design Challenges

The challenge this week at Flutterby Wednesday is open as long as you use a butterfly, angel or fairy, and Anything Goes at Divas by Design. I found this colored notebook paper at JoAnn Fabric and Crafts and thought it would be fun on a card. I cut three strips of different colors and lengths and attached them to a white card. I stamped the butterflies twice (Inkadinkado). The edge of the front of the card was cut off to show the blue butterfly border (Memory Box) and then I added some of the butterflies with pearls to complete the card.

Here Come the Boys and StampsRUs Challenges

The challenge this week at Here Come the Boys is Dinosaurs and at StampsRUs they want to see Cards for Kids. I made this card for my grandson. I punched the dinosaurs border (ek success) and embossed with the Swiss Dots embossing folder (Cuttlebug.) I created a circle border out of patterned paper and a corner punch also by ek success. The stamp in the middle is from Inkadinkado.

Crafting for all Seasons and Crafts and Me Challenges

Christmas is the theme of the challenges this week at Crafting for all Seasons and Crafts and Me. I am back with another CAS holiday card using an embossing folder and diecut that were in my pile of "must use before it is too late". I started with a white card and embossed the tree and border (Sizzix). I cut out a green swirly tree from a Memory Box diecut and attached, adding some big and small red gems. The corners seemed bare so I added some holly (Inkdadinkado) and more gems to complete the card.

Crop Stop, Scrapbook Sisters and Simon Says Stamp Challenges

The challenge this week at Crop Stop is Unique Folds and at Scrapbook Sisters and Simon Say Stamp, Anything Goes. I love trying different folds and Anything Goes is my favorite type of challenge! This card is a sideways easel card. So it is made like a regular easel card, but turned on its side and the top attached to open from the side. I used a beautiful stamp from TPC Studio on the front, some great two sided dp from CTMH, the inside sentiment from Inkadinkadoand an embossing folder from Sizzix to make this fun and unique card.

Inspiration Challenge at Critter Sketch

The challenge this week at Critter Sketch is to create a card after being inspired by this beautiful fall scene. Our sponsor is Stamp and Create and you can get all the details on the challenge and see the other dt cards at the Critter Sketch blog.

I used the colors and leaves from the inspiration picture to start designing this card. I punched the borders with an ek success leaf punch and placed orange and gold paper behind the punched leaves. The tree stamp (Inkadinkado) was stamped in black and cut out with a nestie circle and layered with a scalloped nestie circle. I masked a moon circle and sponged with oranges and tans. Then I sponged the moon in gold. I stamped the leaves and acorns (TPC Studio), colored and raised with mounting tape to hold up the easel front. The sentiment is also from TPC Studio and I added some extra punched leaves to complete the card.

I am entering this card in the challenge at Digistamps 4 Joy to use fall colors.

Speedy the Cat's Friends and Paper Creator's Crafts Challenges

                                       

The challenge this week at Speedy the Cat's Friends Challenge is to create a card any shape but A2 and at Paper Creator Crafts they are all about flowers this week. My card is square and is all about flowers:) I started with a pretty dp from Stampin' up for the card base. I was playing with my punches one day and decided to see what it would look like to punch my large Martha Stewart flower punch once on each side of a 4 1/2 inch square. This pretty frame is what it looks like. I added some flower eyelets in the corners and the flower in the middle is a $1.00 find at Jo-Ann's Fabric and Crafts from Inkadinkado.

Bearly Mine and Paper Take Weekly Challenges

"Anything Goes" is the theme at both Bearly Mine Challenges and Paper Take Weekly this week and that is my favorite kind of challenge! I am sharing a card that I made as a sample for my demo today at the local Wausau WI Jo-ann Fabrics and Crafts Open House. The technique I am showing is how to make the circular frame using corner punches. The stamp in the center is from Inkadinkadoo and the corner punch is by ek success. Of course I used my nesties for the circles and I added some white pearl made with a Pearl Pen as a finishing touch.

Wags and Whiskers and Phindy's Place #38 Challenges

The challenge this week at Wags and Whiskers  is "With Love" and at Phindy's Place it is Valentines. I decided to show you three views of this card because it is my favorite card I have done this year so far inside and out. I cut down the Funky Fold card I did in an earlier post so that it fits in an A2 envelope. I embossed the whole card so the front, insides and back are all embossed with a romantic embossing folder by Cuttlebug. After the cutting and folding to create the card, the rest is very simple. Stamp the love rose stamp (Inkadinkado) in the center of the diecut oval (Marianne Design Creatables), add some pearls and the inside piece (border punch by Martha Stewart) and it is done.

Critter Sketch #45 Challenge

"Anything Christmas" was the challenge at Critter Sketch this week and I just happen to have one more holiday card for Christmas Eve. I got this idea from a stamping magazine recently- use sponged masking tape to make a Christmas tree with a few buttons and a star to decorate it. The background stamp and sentiment are from Inkadinkado. My wonderful family is coming to celebrate Christmas so I will be happily busy the next few days. Lexi's Creations Challenge

The challenge this week at Lexi's Creations was to use blue and silver in our cards. I came upon some snowflake "ghost shapes" from Heidi Swapp and decided it was the season to play with them right now. I simply held them down on white cardstock and sponged blue around them and came up with this cool background. I had been wanting to use the angel from Inkadinkado ever since it was given to me, and it worked great as the focal point. I embossed the silver card and added silver gems and I love how it turned out. Probably can't see, but I also highlighted some of the blue snowflakes with a silver pen.

Stamps R Us Challenge

The challenge this week at Stamps R Us was to create a holiday card. I made something similar to this at our local Stamp Shoppe (click on button on side of my blog to see more of Heidi's neat stuff) and loved it, so cased it for my card. The base is light green paper embossed with a CB embossing folder with the cardinal and branch and snowflakes. I sponged the cardinal red, added the sentiment (Inkadinkado) through a hole cut with a nestie, added the ribbon and pearls and layered on red and then on the light green card.
