More Tiered Wiper or Pop Out Cards

Sam from Mixed Up Craft has been sharing videos with various versions of Tiered Wiper Cards and I have been having fun trying each one. I finally received my backordered Spellbinders Dumpster Fire and Favorite Side Effects dies and stamps and created this card with them. See the arrow? This is what happens when it is pulled:

Most recently, Sam shared a slimline double pop out version. I adapted it to fit into a 5 x 7 envelope. The super cute paper and pop outs are from Paper Wishes. Pull the tab and here is the surprise:

Use Your Patterned Paper Out of Season And for Diecutting Animals

Do you have seasonal patterned paper pads that are stored away until the season arrives? We all do and I am encouraging you to use them now. Recently I was thinking ahead to Halloween cards. My favorite paper to use for Halloween cards is the Halloween 6x6 Stock Pad from American Crafts at CutCardStock.

Bones don't have to be for skeletons, right? The bones patterned paper in the Halloween pack reminded me of dogs, so I made this card with a floral puppy and bones:

The floral puppy is a die from Moonstone Hunkydory called Pretty Petals - Dog and the bone is from a set by Waffle Flower. The cardbase and card front was created with the gorgeous Stardream Metallic Lagoon cardstock from CutCardStock. I added texture and interest to card front with a die from Kat Scrappiness. 

The bones reminded me of treats and the birthday boy or girl is going to laugh when they see the inside of their card created with a die from Scrappy Tails:

I had so much fun creating with the patterned paper and Stardream Metallic paper as well as the Pretty Petals pets, I created two more cards with them:

I embossed the Stardream Metallic cardstocks with different textures and added a layered sentiment from the Pretty Petals- Cat die set from Moonstone and Hunkydory. I found both of the Pretty Petals Dog and Cat dies at Paper Wishes.

Sealife Stained Glass Cards

There is a new release from Hot off the Press at Paper Wishes called Sealife Stained Glass  and it is perfect for the eclipse cards I have been making lately. This one was made with a checkerboard die I purchased from Eileen Walters on Etsy. The Sealife Stained Glass 12 x 12 papers also include many sentiment pieces I used on all of these cards. 

In the collection of Sealife Stained Glass is a set of dies and I cut out a sea weed and whale with it and some more of the patterned paper. The background was embossed with a new 3D embossing folder from Spellbinders. I cut a couple more sea creatures and seaweeds out of the paper pack and the sentiment and card front were made with more this perfect paper:

I used the checkerboard die on this card too, and the perfect sentiment on the front and inside.

Circle and Square Slatted Dies Make Gorgeous Eclipse Cards Too!

I recently purchased the 12 x 12 Sealife Stained Glass Cardstock from Hot Off The Press at Paper Wishes and found the stained class images perfect for the eclipse cards I made for my new video here. I started with two identical pieces of the stained glass sealife with a dolphin as the focal point. I cut one with the one of the sizes of Slatted Circles in a set from Craft Addiction UK and raised it with foam adhesive strips around the edge. Then I attach it so the pattern flows from the background through the raised image. I made this one into an easel card and a sentiment from that same paper pack holds up the easel top. 

Here is a totally different way to use the Slatted Circle Die Set with patterned paper. I made it an ornament. The sentiment on this card is from Karen Burniston.

I turned one of the square slatted dies to cut a diamond before raising the top piece over an identical piece so you can see the pretty seahorse on both. The embossed background was created with a new 3D embossing folder from Spellbinders. 

I had so much fun creating these eclipse cards with new slatted shape dies I ordered from Clipper Street.com from Canada here. I will be playing again soon and then will share more ways to use these innovative dies.

Special Request Baby Shower Cards

My daughter is going to a couple baby showers and asked for some cards to match the themes of the showers. The first is a "Tea for Two" shower for a Mom who is having twins- one boy and one girl. I happened to have a die set from Dies...to Die For that is a teapot for  shaped cards with those exact words. Here is the inside of this card:

My daughter is giving gift cards as the gift to each of the moms-to-be. The theme of the second shower is pinks and ribbons and here is the card I made for this one:

The ribbon holds the card closed, but just look at what happens when the ribbon is opened:

I love how this card turned out using a set of dies from Paper Wishes called Standing Pop Up Card from Fabulous Folded Cards. Did you catch the little mistake I made? I picked two different patterned papers for the layering and meant to use them every other one. Oh well- the Mom-to-be (and Dad and Grandma) probably won't notice. But I hope they do love the card and the gift, and display this card with love as it was made. 

Creative Cards with New Dies and Stencils

My New Year's resolution is to play with all the new dies, stencils and other crafty goodies I have bought but never used and today I am sharing cards made with a set of dies called Standing Pop Up Card dies from Fabulous Folded Cards at Paper Wishes. Every month Hot Off the Press at Paper Wishes releases a set of very inexpensive dies that create fabulous folded cards. This was an older set that was on sale the end of the year and it makes cards that start like this:

When the ribbon is untied, the card pops open and displays like the first photo. I used 49 and Market cardstock along with some of their rub-on transfers to decorate my circle card for a special friend's birthday. Here are pictures of some of the inside views:

Another way to use this unique set of dies is to have two pop up together in the inside of a card as I did here. Also popping up are some acetate flowers from 49 and Market. I decorated the inside of this 5 x 7 card with a new Poppy Stamps Nordic Lace Plate. The front was created with a new 3D embossing folder with layering stencils from Simon Hurley and Spellbinders:

Thanks To Gina K A New Technique To Try

I love to find new techniques to try, then have a play and come up with my twist on the technique. Recently I watched a video where Gina K of Gina K Designs shared the idea of stamping twice on white cardstock with black ink, then cutting one out with a cover die, raising it and gluing back on for a unique look. I pulled out every stamp set and die that I thought could work, and in my newest video I share what did and did not work. 

I thought I would try different colors than the black and white Gina K showed, and here is one of my favorites of the cards I made. I stamped "Baseball in Motion" from Technique Junkies twice on kraft cardstock using my MISTI so they were in exactly the same spot, then cut one of them out with the largest plaid die from a set by Tim Holtz and Sizzix. This die set was new to me, but is apparently out of stock at Sizzix.  I did find it here. I love how this card turned out, and wondered- do we need to stamp on each layer for this technique to work? 

No! All I did on this one was to start with two identical forest scene designer papers and cut one out with the Sizzix die and one without. I also cut out two more of the Sizzix plaid die out of thicker black cardstock and glued the three together before gluing onto the back piece. Then I glued onto a black cardbae and added a couple die cut birds. This card was so easy to make and would be perfect for sympathy, thinking of you, birthday or any reason to send a card. 

In the new video here, I show these and other cards where I learned what did and didn't work, and I made this card step by step: 

I knew I wanted to use the same Sizzix plaid die as it worked the best of the ones I tried. I had this new stamp from TEXTures by Lou Collins that I found at Paper Wishes, but it was quite a bit larger than the die. I show how I stamped twice on the same designer paper cut to 4 1/2 x 6, die cut one and glued on to two die cut out of black. I attached back onto the larger uncut piece so the flowers flow from the background on the diecut piece, and love how this one turned out!

The Easiest Squashfold Cards You Will Ever Make with New Dies From Crealies

Pretty wedding or anniversary card for sure, but just look at the inside of this card I made for my newest video:

Squashfold cards have been around for a while, but Crealies just took them to a whole new level! To see the pop in this card when opened,  you will want the watch the video here. The Heart Squashfold die set in the newest Crealies release includes the base and many layers of hearts, both stitched and unstitched. The gorgeous scenery paper used both on the front and the inside is from Paper Wishes, and the Deer Silhouette is from the newest release at Crealies. But of course, the inside is where the real fun happens:

Flower Fun Folds With Dies From My Favorite Companies

Sunflowers and blue bonnets are two of my favorite flowers, and they are so cheerful on this fence fun fold card made with a new die set from Karen Burniston and featured in my newest video here. Just look what happens when this card is opened:

It stands up with three rectangle accordion folds for a cheerful display in the recipient's home! The Fence Add-Ons die works with Karen Burniston's Landscape Rectangle Accordion die to easily create this fantastic card. The grass and crosshatch rectangle dies are also from Karen Burniston and the sunflower dies are from Penny Black. 

Another favorite company where I get very reasonably priced dies from is Hot off the Press at Paper Wishes and when I saw the video and cards they made with this die set, I didn't even try to resist it! It is called Paper Artist Inside/Out Flowers and here is another picture of this pop out flower card:

Very Large Die Two Different Ways

I am a die cut addict and often buy dies on impulse without reading the small print or finding out the actual size. I loved the look of the Wave Crest Panel Die Set from TEXTures and Lou Collins that I found here on Paper Wishes. But when I received it, I tried cutting it and it is very large- too large even for a 5 x 7 card. I did glue it onto this 5 x 7 card base and trimmed off the sides before adding the whale die cut raised on pop dots. The whale and turtle below are also from the Deep Blue Collection from TEXTures by Lou Collins, and the sentiment is from A Colorful Life Designs. 

The size of cards I make the most is A2 (4 1/4 x 5 1/2 when folded) and that is the size of this card. I die cut the very large wave, glued it on and trimmed it down to fit the A2 cardbase. I popped up the sea turtle and stamped a perfect sentiment from poppystamps. 

I think my grandsons will love these cards and I will give to them to share with friends or family and spread joy and smiles.
