More Layered Stenciled Cards From My New Video

I love slimline cards and layered stencils and couldn't resist the Slimline Layered Starburst Stencil set from Pinkfresh Studio I made this and the card below with for my newest video here. I stenciled the layers in reds and pinks and then attached diecuts from Whimsy Stamps Slimline Heartbeats Die set for this "thinking of you" card.

Choosing different colors for the starburst layering stencils results in totally different looking cards, and I die cut stitched rectangle layers in different heights for this slimline card.

Another Pinkfresh Studio layered stencil set (with matching die set) I couldn't resist was the Sweet Leaves set I used to make this card. It reminded me of Scandinavian Folk Art (from my Norwegian heritage) and I made this card in those colors, and with the Norwegian word for Cheers. The stitched background was cut with a die from Honey Bee Stamps. Of course these "sweet leaves" look good in any color as I show in the next two cards:

Of course you don't need layered stencils or even plastic stencils to double up stenciled fun on your cards as I show in the new video here. I just got some new brass stencils from Sweet Poppy Stencils at Del Bello's Designs and made the next three cards with them:

I added some stencils in the background of the wedding cards above made with the Princess Bride brass stencil from Sweet Poppy Stencils. The mixed media card features the Absolutely Abstract brass stencil, a fern stencil from A Colorful Life Designs and a stamp from Taylored Expressions.

Double or Triple The Stenciled Layered Cards and New Video!

Layered stencils have become a favorite of mine to design with, and in my newest video I share many cards make with two, three and even four layers of stencils! One of my favorite new layered stencil sets is the Layered Mixed Butterfly Stencil from A Colorful Life Designs and I show how to make this gorgeous card in the new video:

I started with a white cardbase embossed with a Cuttlebug floral embossing folder. Then I simply added ink through the layers of this lovely stencil set. I will add a sentiment later when I decide if it will be a birthday, thinking of you or sympathy card.

Another of my most favorite layered stencil sets is this Taylored Expressions Triple Slim In the Garden set which makes three mini-slim cards as I demo in the video. This concept is brilliant and designed to be very easy to line up as I show. I cut these card fronts (and those below) with a stitched mini slimline die set from Kat Scrappiness as I think that adds such a nice touch, but of course you can easily cut the card fronts in thirds without them. The "hello" layered die is from Gina K Designs and was cut out and raised with my favorite eclipse technique.

Here is another set of mini-slimline cards made with the same Taylored Expression layering stencils and a different color scheme. I used more stitched mini slimline dies to cut out the layers and raised each one for the third thank you card.

I love all the cards I made with layers and layers of stenciled beauty and hope you will watch the video and give the ideas a try!

More Floating Strips and Elements With Dies From My Newest Video

When I decided to play with the Floating Strips or Floating Elements technique for my newest video here, I had several pieces of lovely paper from Paper Wishes with Made To Surprise border dies cut, folded and tucked that I demoed in last week's video sitting here too pretty to waste. I didn't want to cover the center or the pretty flowers so I added some butterflies both die cut and punched made with the technique.

My next two cards both feature heart dies (torn edge and slimline) from Dies...to Die For and background pinpoint burst plates from Memory Box. The gorgeous love die is from Quietfire Designs and the "Mr. & Mrs." dies are from Honey Bee Stamps.

Another reason I like trying different ideas like this Floating Strips technique is because it adds so much interest to an otherwise boring card. I simply cut a Penny Black Masterpieces Made Simple image into the strips on acetate and raised it over a wavy wonky rectangle cut out with a Kat Scrappiness die. The sentiment is a new one from Sue Wilson and Creative Expressions.

I had so much fun playing with this technique and making the cards I share in the new video here. I hope you will watch it and then have a play yourself!

Stepping Up The Floating Strips Technique For My Newest Video

I love to take a technique or idea and expand on it and make many cards with different ideas, and that is what I have done in my new video here with the Floating Strips or Floating Elements technique. I have seen many lovely cards in Pinterest and Instagram with this idea and traditional shapes like circles with strips of paper over a raised die cut shape of acetate with tiny slits so the image appears to be floating. I decided to try many different shaped dies and then move on to try embossing and stencils as well. In last week's video I demoed some edger dies from Made to Surprise and had a lovely lilacs piece of paper from Paper Wishes sitting here so I made this card with it:

The stitched flower die is called Vivid Bloom from Birch Press Design and check out what I did on the inside with the negative of the acetate strips flower:

I will write a message and sign the card inside that pretty floral shape. Here is another of my favorite cards made with the Floating Strips technique and dies and papers from Paper Wishes called Foggy Forest:

The border oval pines die is from W Plus 9. After making many cards with different die shapes, I decided to try embossing folders and stencils on the acetate and paper strips and here is another favorite card made for the video:

I cut the marble strips in three different colors and sizes and attached to a piece of acetate then embossed the whole piece in a 3D embossing folder from Simon Says Stamp. The sentiment is a die from Sue Wilson and the floral sprig die is from Gina Marie Designs. Here is the card I made in the new video:

This card features the gorgeous Split Rose Flourish Stencil from A Colorful Life Designs on both the background and on the oval floating image piece. I show how to add ink through the stencil, cut the strips, add to acetate with foam adhesive strips, cut with the stitched oval die (from Dies...To Die For) and then attach where the pattern flows from the backgrround in the oval front in the new video here.

I love how these cards turned out and hope they encourage you to give this technique a try and then send your cards out into the world to spread the joy!

Crealies Birdhouse Card

When I saw the new May 2022 release at Crealies, there was some new dies I just couldn't resist (and then I saw the June release and wanted even more:) If you visit the website using the link above, just click on NEW for the awesome May and June releases. I am working on a video with some of the new dies, but in the meantime I created this cute birdhouse card with the new Birdhouse and Two Birds dies. I added a sentiment cut out with Karen Burniston dies. The birdhouse opens so I can put a hidden message here:

Crealies is a website out of the Netherlands with many many unique dies priced very reasonably. The shipping costs and time are similar to many USA based websites.

More Fabulous Pop Up Fun From My Newest Video

Each month as a subscriber to the Fabulous Folded Cards plan at Paper Wishes, I receive a new die set that makes unique interactive and pop up cards like this little box card as I show in my newest video here. The die set is called the Strawberry/Pumpkin Card Cutting Dies and was last month's featured die set in my subscription. However, the die set is still available for purchase now- the subscription gives me a 10% discount, a free gift and early access to each month's die set. Here is another view of this cute box card as well as a floral version I made:

The flowers were cut with a die set from Spellbinders and I am giving this to a friend for her upcoming birthday. But the die set does not have to be used just for box cards as I show on this card:

The set is called Strawberry or Pumpkin so I created a fall card with a surprise on the inside:

I learned how to make a pop up surprise with this same die set in the Webisodes video on the Paper Wishes website, and I feature Paper Wishes paper on this card as well. Of course as a die cut and interactive die addict, I also purchase other dies and recently received the Spellbinders A2 Garden Shutters Die Set from Becca Feeken and made this pop up card to share in the new video too:

The shutters pop up to reveal the message underneath for another fabulous interactive card made with innovative dies.

I hope you will watch the new video, try some of the ideas and products and then send some handmade joy out into the world soon!

Fabulous Folded Pocket Pop-Out Cards From My Newest Video

The end of each month brings great joy to die cut crazy card makers like me because I know I am soon going to be receiving a brand new Fabulous Folded Die Set in the mail! I am a subscriber to the Fabulous Folded Cards monthly cardmaking club at Paper Wishes so each month I receive a fantastic new die set at a discount with a free gift!

In this week's video I share many cards I made with both this month's die set as well as last month's. This is the first card I made with the Fabulous Folded Pocket Pop-Out Card set I just received:

All the Seascapes and Sand gorgeous paper is from Paper Wishes and Hot Off the Press and the fish dies are from Poppystamps and Tutti Designs. To really see how fun this card is when "popped" you will want to watch the video, but here are still pictures of it partially popped and all the way open:

All the adorable "whittle" sea creatures and the perfect stamped sentiments are from Poppystamps. These Pocket Pop-Out cards are so easy to make with the Fabulous Folded die set as I show in the video when I make this Father's Day gift card pop-out card:

The sentiment die sets are from Karen Burniston and the ice cream cones were cut with a die set from Sunny Studio. Here is this pocket pop out partially and fully "popped":

The way these cards pop open is much better seen in the video and I also show how I attached the ice cream gift card to surprise my hubby when he pops open the card.

I will admit one thing I really don't like about typical subscriptions is that the products are usually exclusive and if I share a project with them and you watch later and love the dies and want to purchase them, you cannot. The Fabulous Folded die set subscription gives a 10% discount, a free gift and early access to the dies, but anyone can order the Fabulous Folded die sets after the month they are featured as well. I have linked the subscription but also the individual die sets in this blog post so be sure to check them out as well as watch the new video here for many more interactive cards with great dies.

More Edger Cards With New Dies from Paper Discovery and Gemini

As I was having fun designing cards with edger dies for my newest video here, I remembered I had two new sets of edger dies that I had not played with yet. This easel card was created with both panels in the Lost In Music Musical Panels Die Set from Paper Discovery at Paper Wishes. I raised the keyboard to create the easel which is easier to see in this picture:

The Spring Tulips Edge'ables die from Gemini is perfect for a slimline card as I show above, but can also be used for a mini-slimline with 6 x 6 Tulips Designer Paper from Paper Wishes as I did in this card:

I wasn't sure if I wanted patterned paper on green or green cardstock on patterned paper so I did both and put the other one inside this mini-slimline card:

The sentiments on both the front and inside were part of a free pack of Dazzles I got from Paper Wishes when I joined the Fabulous Folded Subscription plan and are so easy to stick on even in small places.

I had great fun creating all the cards with new edger dies for my new video. I hope you will check out the video and have some fun this week experimenting with new ideas in your cardmaking!
