New Ways To Add Sparkle and Shine to our Cardmaking

I love to find new ways to add sparkle and shine to my cards, and in the recent Crop and Create Delivered Cardmaking online weekend of classes I found some I share in my newest video here.  My two favorites were Simon Hurley's Lunar Pastes and Pink & Main's Adhesive Transfers with foil and here is the card I showed how to make step by step:

I just have two of the Lunar Pastes so far (more on the way!), but Simon Hurley taught us in his class how to add a dye re-inker to the purple Lunar Paste to turn it to a blue when the card is tilted so it shifts from purple to blue! I also used his Cross My Heart light pink on the background and then embossed it with a 3D snowflake embossing folder from Sizzix. The foiled heart was created with adhesive transfers from Pink & Main that we also received in our box from this event. This particular set will be released for sale on their website on November 17, but many others are here on their website now. The adhesive transfers can be used to easily apply foil (with or without heat), glitter and embossing powder as I show in the video.

Here is another card I made so easily with the Lunar Paste and a snowflake embossing folder. And below is another card I created with the Snowflake Adhesive Transfers as well as another foiled sheet from Pink & Main:

Spellbinders also taught a class and shared this bow die which is part of their Merry and Bright recent release:

I added sparkle to this shaped card simply by cutting out one of the layers with Spellbinders Glitter Foam Sheets.

I had great fun making all these cards (and more) for my newest video, and hope they inspire you to give some of these products and techniques a try.

October Class Cards

Quick post to share the cards I taught in my October classes at Harts N Scraps locally. The theme was using household supplies in our cards, and we used paper towels, napkins, masking tape and wall repair tape. I also taught the stadium wave fun fold which was a big hit.

To see pictures of the classes and for info on upcoming classes, visit the Harts N Scraps Facebook page here.

Interactive Snow Globes with No Snow- Why Not?

I received the gorgeous Simon's Snow Globe die set from Spellbinders but I am not ready for snow yet- are you? So I decided to make some snow globe cards without snow for my newest video. Here is the shaker card I make step by step with new Serenade of Autumn products from Spellbinders:

Snow globes do not have to include snow as I show in this merry and bright Christmas card I made for my sister in Arizona. They don't get snow, but Santa still comes. It is best to see these cards in the new video, but here is a mini video that shows how the windows in the houses on this card lights up with EZ Lights from Pear Blossom Press and the shaker motion of the sunflower card:

(To my loyal subscribers - for some reason my mini videos do not show up in the emailed blogposts, so to see this mini video, go to my actual blog by clicking on the title.)

OK- this card has a bit of snow and some super cool Fransformers birds in a globe to share Happy Brrrrday wishes for a special child with a winter birthday. The Fransformers sets are from Stampendous at Spellbinders and can transform with different face and other options. The bird on the left wiggles on an Action Wobble as you can see in the new video here.

I hope all these cards encourage you to give some of the ideas and products a try and then send some handmade joy out into our world!

Combining Stitched Backgrounds with Joy Folds with Frantic Stamper Dies

I love stitched background dies and fun folds, and this card from my video combines those loves on a pretty fall or Thanksgiving card. The Swirling Leaves Stitched Background die and Stacking Maple Leaves dies are from Frantic Stamper here. It is a 5 x 7 joy fold card and here is a look at the inside of this card:

I used the following dies from Frantic Stamper on the inside of this card: Elegant Blessings, Scroll Maple Leaf and Stacking Maple Leaves. This card would be perfect for a thank you card, a Thanksgiving card or to send blessings anytime in this fall season.

More Crop and Create Delivered Cards

I just completed a 4 day on line awesome cardmaking event put on by Scrapbook and Cards Today and posted most of the cards I made in the classes here in this blogpost (in case you missed them.) But many of the supplies and ideas were so amazing I had to play some more and am posting a bunch of cards I made in the last couple of days with them. The embossing folder and layered stencils on this lovely card were from Altenew and the stamped sentiment and matching die were from Gina K Design. I love that we got stamped sentiments with matching dies from several companies and will be using them again and again. On the next card, the stamped sentiment with matching die was from Brutus Monroe and the rest of the supplies from Gina K Design.

I used grey tones of ink and one of the stenciled layers of the flowers was made with a silver paste.

I loved the Merry and Bright collection from Spellbinders and made this Merry Hello card with parts of what we received and is available now at the Spellbinders website here.

Taylored Expressions gave us layering stencils and stamps and then tempted us with matching Foilables including sentiments for the inside of our cards that can be foiled too. Of course I couldn't resist and made this card too:

Crealies Boxes to Explode Or Not?!

I love dies with many options and as I show in my new video here, Crealies new explosion box dies can be made to explode or not! I was not a big fan of making explosion boxes where I needed 12 x 12 papers and had to do a bunch of cutting and scoring.  These Make A Box dies in three sizes do all the work and smaller 6 x 6 or scraps can be used! Here is the first explosion box I made, and look at what happens when it is opened!

I am happy to share that Crealies dies shown can be purchased either here on the Crealies website OR in the United States here at the Frantic Stamper website!

Sometimes we need a box for gifts and don’t want the sides to explode open, and these new Create a Box dies make easy beautiful boxes. I thought it would be fun to make the recipient of this surprise to open and then open more boxes so I use used the mini, regular and large sets to make this gift. My grandson is going to love this one!

The project I made step by step in the video is a partial explosion box with a Christmas scene in it. Here are pictures of the box before and after opening:

You will want to watch the video to see the different boxes some of which explode and some that don’t. You get to decide to explode or not with these new Create A Box dies from Crealies! I had great fun designing these projects and I hope they encourage you to give some of the ideas and products a try!

Gnomie Hugs and Envelopes of Wonder from Spellbinders

Gnomes and envelopes make a great pair as do Stampendous and Spellbinders as I show in my newest video here. I couldn't resist the adorable Gnome Hugs die set from Stampendous and available at Spellbinders. And I loved all the new Envelope of Wonder die sets at Spellbinders so I paired those two up to make the many cards I share in the video. Here is the card I make step by step in the video:

The gnomes are so sweet and I created a small notecard to attach the envelope to so it stands up and I can write a note to the recipient. I added stamped sentiments from another Hugs release from Stampendous and the fun shaped notecard was created with the new Nested Corner Frame die set from Spellbinders.

I absolutely love fall colors and this card was made with the Autumn Wonder die set as well as the original  Envelope of Wonder die set. The sentiment dies are also from Spellbinders and the set is called Thanks Enclosed.

I thought the envelope pieces could make a fun triangle gatefold card and the slots cut with the die would be perfect for sliding a belly band through. I used a patterned vellum to make those pieces and the notecard pulls out with many floral pieces cut out of mirror card with dies from the original Envelope of Wonder die set.

I had great fun creating all these envelope cards and hope my cards encourage you to watch the video here and try some of the ideas and products featured.

Celebrating World Cardmaking Day!

Happy World Card Making Day!! Although in my house, that would be everyday! How are you celebrating? I am heading over to the Scrapbook and Cards Today YouTube channel to watch free video classes all day and maybe even win a prize. AND I am having breakfast with a bunch of crafty friends and then we are heading to Harts N Scraps to help them celebrate their one year anniversary with 20% off everything in the store, prizes, cake and snacks!! If you live anywhere near Rothschild/Wausau Wisconsin, you are not going to want to miss this! I teach monthly classes at Harts N Scraps and there are many other classes you can check out too. The savings everyday are fantastic, but that day- WOW!

I just finished another awesome weekend of classes at SCT's Crop and Create and as part of this special day I am going to share most of the cards I created so far. But I am no where near done. After cutting for my October classes and finishing up some video and blogging deadlines, I am going to go back and make many more cards with this unbelievable box of products and inspiration from the amazing teachers including Jennifer McGuire!

I loved Gina K's class and cards and made them just as she taught using the colors she recommended:

Another favorite class was Altenews and here the cards I made:

We started the 4 days of classes with Sara of  Crafter's Companion reminding us how fun gilding flakes are to play with:

How about these cards from Stamps of Life and Spellbinders that are Merry and Bright? (The Spellbinders bow and tree shaped letter dies are going to be available very soon for purchase as are many of the other products you see.)

I am a huge fan of Pear Blossom Press One Lights and we were gifted one in our box which I used to light up Taylored Expressions layered stencil cake:

Here are the rest of the cards I made so far with Picket Fence Studios, Honey Bee Stamps, Lawn Fawn, Scrapbook.com and Hero Arts:

Hope you have a crafty World Card Making Day and then send some of your handmade joy out into this world!
