Spinner Easel Card and Inside Spinner Card From My Newest Video

I had so much fun making spinner cards for my newest video and this one is a spinner easel card that I learned how to make here. I started with a 5 1/2 inch square card scored at the center and also at 2 3/4" and folded down for the easel. I used My Favorite Things inside and out stitched rounded square dies for the frame and the spinning cupcake is a die from Karen Burniston. The sprinkles were created with an embossing folder and the perfect sentiment is from Technique Tuesday. Karen Burniston's Happy Birthday was die cut out of yellow and black fun foam and is raised to hold open the spinning easel.

I used some darling puppy stamps from Simon Says Stamp (the Pupperoni on the front) and Art Impressions for the spinner inside to make this super cute spinning card for my grandson. He loves puppys and pepperoni pizza so this will be perfect. The "love you" message for him was created with a Karen Burniston die and the wonky stitched rectangles and circle dies are from Gina Marie Designs. 

I will spin the two sided puppy well before putting in the envelope and when he opens it, the puppy will spin around and around. Spinner cards are so fun to make and send and I hope you watch the new video here for tips and instruction on how to make them.

Foxy Lady Birthday Double Slider Card

Frankie Fox is here today to wish a foxy lady a very Happy Birthday! Tonic Studios just came out with a set of layered animal dies and I have been having so much fun designing with them. I die cut the foxy Frankie out of various scraps and layered her up with a pretty blue bow on the front of this card. 

I was reminded recently of a double slider card we had made years ago using a strip from a plastic bag on this blogpost and video.  I tried it following Dawn's instructions and it worked perfectly the first time. Here is a look at what happens when the recipient pulls on the ribbon: 

The top pulls out to reveal the birthday fox's name using Concord and 9th's Sophisticated Script stamps. On the bottom I stamped a sentiment from Art Impressions but I changed it to read " from one glamorous fox to another." I am going to share this card with the foxes in my in home classes and let them choose the name to personalize it with.

Can We See Spring Through the Window?

My puppy and kitty and I are sure hoping Spring is on the way! I chose a Clear Views Transparency full of Spring greens to look at through our window. This card is for a challenge for my local stamp club to create something with a tri-fold window card. I created the front wood grain look and then attached the completed piece the wrong way, so mine is no longer a tri-fold. The cute front and back pets are from AI. The window was a bit bigger than the Clear Views transparency, so I added a wood valance (die by Memory Box.) I used distress ink and Elmer's glue to create the wood grain background as I learned how to do here.

Here is a look at the inside of the card. The fronts of the sweet pets are shown over a window sill (also Memory Box.) The large I Love You is a fun die by Die-Versions. Another NBUS Card

I played a bit more with the pile of NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff) on my bed and this cute card was the result. The embossing folder I used for the card base and the front gate is another of the new ones from We R Memory Keepers from their Next Level series. The curly hello die is by Penny Black. The sweet puppy and kitty are from Art Impressions. Here is the reason I could not resist them:

The kitty and puppy have a front and a back- too cute. I finished the card with a curly sentiment from Lawn Fawn. I think this card would be perfect for one of my kids at Send a Smile 4 Kids or my grandson. (Did you see the big news announced this week at SAS4Kids? Check it out here.)

Playing with NBUS

I love the NBUS expression Darnell Knauss came up with- Never Before Used Schtuff- and have a pile of NBUS on my bed that I must play with before putting away. All the dies on this card are new as well as the cool embossing folder by We R Memory Keepers. Their new line of embossing folders has such great dimension taking efs to a whole new level, which is why they are called "Next Level" embossing folders. I embossed a kraft sheet of cardstock after cutting a window with a new die from Art Impressions. I sponged the window that was cut out with a distress ink and popped it back into the die opening. I attached a pretty scene on a Clear Views transparency from the back. I love how the window opens and closes! I added some vines cut with a new die from Poppy Stamps and a sympathy sentiment cut with a Cottage Cutz die.

Lyndall is the most incredible and inspiring person I have ever met.She fought and won her battle with Cancer Ewing’s Sarcoma in her late teens, this battle meant she had to have her finger amputated to totally beat it. Heart breaking as it was. She soldiered on.This battle took a toll on her, but her can do attitude got her through. Years passed and the cancer lay dormant and what we thought was totally gone.But this year the rare cancer she had in her late teens manifested its ugly head yet again. This time it came back as a tumour resting on her heart.For the past 4 months she has undergoing extensive Chemotherapy to try and eradicate it. With baited breathe we have prayed and prayed for yet another recovery. But this time we are not as lucky. Her specialist is of the belief that the tumour is not going to shrink away totally from the chemo and radiotherapy and it remains inoperable. This means that it will most likely start to grow again and may start to spread.If I can quote from Lyndall during her battle she has said to her family and friends “Believe you me, long before Lorna Jane put it on a t-shirt my mantra has been “Never Give UP!!”

I read this and just had to help in any way I could. I bought this really cute dragon and the coupon digital stamps at the site and also sent a card to Lyndall to be opened at her fundraiser in September. I created the background out of dp and a border punch from Stampin up. The digital stamps were just printed and cut out to create this CAS but fun card for a child.

PCI Stitching Challenge

The new challenge this week at Paper Creations Ink is to use Stitching on our cards. What they are looking for are ALL TYPES of creations that have stitching on them, whether it is by hand, using a sewing machine, faux stitching or even stitching on your ribbon. Our wonderful sponsor Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps is offering a $10 gift certificate to the lucky winner and you have until Sunday, July 14, 2011 at 7pm CST to join us for this challenge. I liked the digital stamps provided to us by Stitchy Bear so much I had to create two cards. I love to use humor in my cards and so this 29 Again funny lady by Stitchy just cracked my up. I made an easel card and poked holes and drew cross stitches around her as a frame. I paper pieced her balloons and outfit and colored the rest with my copics. The funny sentiment is from Art Impressions and I added a row of purple gems to complete the card.

My second card is using some beautiful Shabby Chic digital paper and the Floral Fantasy digital stamp (Floppy Latte') both from Stitchy Bear. I simply printed the digital stamp onto the gorgus digital paper and cut it out leaving a frame of dp on the sides. I used my Scor Bug to make faux stitches down both sides of the black card and drew my stitches with white ink. I added some pink gems to complete this CAS card.

Art Impressions and Craft Us Crazy Challenges

The challenge this week at Art Impressions is "Use Something from Your Stash" and at Craft Us Crazy it is "Christmas in July and/or Distressing". The stamps and paper are from my stash and I did distress the edges of the image after I cut it. I stamped the trees and snowflakes on a tan piece of cardstock and cut out the image with my nesties. Then I cut the pieces into a "puzzle", sponged to distress and then put back together. CAS but still a nice look.

What If? Wed. Sketch Challenge

The What If? Wednesday challenge at The House that Stamps Built (Repeat Impression's blog) is challenging us to create a card using the sketch below, post it to your blog and link it sometime in the next two weeks for a chance at a great prize. I used one of my favorite RI stamps - Belle the Bear - and some fun accessories to create my CAS card. Belle was stamped in brown and cut out. Her dress was paper pieced and her jacket and hat embossed and paper pieced as well. I was playing with my new dies from Nestabilities and discovered I like the positive and negative of the Foral Doily Motif. So I cut it in white and in light purple, slipped some sparkly green paper under the openings and put them together to create the circular frame. I added a button flower and a line of gems to complete the sketch.

Charisma Cardz and DDH Challenges

The challenge this week at Charisma Cardz is to make a card that would make you smile or laugh, and at DDH Challenges it is to paper piece. If you know me, you know I love to paper piece and to use humor in my cards, so these two are perfect for me! I won these fun images from Art Impressions a few weeks ago and this "chic chick" sure puts a smile on my face! I paper pieced her outfit and colored the rest with my copics. The funny saying was cut out with a nestie and popped up with mounting tape. I used a ek success border punch and a couple flower gems to complete the card. Hope it makes you smile too!

Hambo Hoedown and Art Impressions Stamps Challenges

Fun challenges this week at Hambo Hoedown and Art Impressions Stamps: At Hambo they want us to use their stamps to make a masculine card with stripes somewhere and at Art Impressions they want funny cards. I love Hambo stamps because so many of them crack me up and I love to make funny cards. I had these papers picked out from Tim Holtz because they looked old and so I just added my own lines with a thin black marker. I paper pieced the caveman and sponged his oval and the sentiment piece to look aged. The shape of the card was fun- I just cut the whole card down and matched red and aged map pieces when layering.

FYI- did you know some companies give you free stamps when you are published using their stamps? Hambo is one and I won these and others recently when I was published in Just Cards Birthday issue. Repeat Impressions also rewards stampers who get published with their stamps and also has a gallery you can enter and earn free rubber at as well. Check it out- both companies have buttons on the side of my blog. The key to getting published is sending in your cards- just do it!

Dutch Dare Challenge

 

The challenge this week at Dutch Dare Challenges was Anything Goes! That's easy enough... I am using a very funny card I designed for a challenge at our Stamp Shoppers Club- use scraps on our card. Lots of scraps in this one:) The funny lady is from Art Impressions and I paper pieced her dress (with a scrap) and colored the rest of her with Copics. The What's up saying is from Hambo and we're not sure who makes the B;^$#(* Birthday stamp, but isn't it hysterical? I borrowed it from my BFF but she may not get it back:)

Going Bra-less

Bet the title of this post got your attention, huh? I found this hysterical lady and the saying at a stamp shoppe up north and couldn't resist buying them. The lady is by Art Impressions and the saying by River City Rubber. I paper pieced the swimsuit and put the punch line on the inside of the card- two things I love to do.
