Video - Easy Faux Origami Butterflies and A Dozen Ways To Create With Them

Years ago I saw some gorgeous origami butterflies and  tried to make my own with little success. I discovered a die from i-Crafter that makes faux butterflies so easy and in my newest video here I show a bunch of cards I made with the Folded Butterfly die.

As I show in the video, the butterflies are so easy to make and can be attached to any card for a pretty embellishment. On all the butterflies I made I added my favorite gems from Gina Marie Designs and I chose to use bodies and antenna from other dies I own. I had the greatest success using a lightweight patterned paper and strong thread to hold the butterfly together. This card features a gorgeous bumblebee border die from Creative Expressions.

What if you don't have lightweight designer patterned paper to use? You can use colorful magazine pictures as I did on this pretty butterfly! The friends die is from Tutti Designs and I attached a Seeded Paper Heart that can be planted and it will grow flowers! I purchased my hearts and also butterflies from Of The Earth Seeded Paper.

Here are a couple more cards I made and on these cards I attached the butterflies with small magnets so they can be taken off the card and placed on a frig or somewhere in the home to brighten spirits:

Both of these cards feature favorite sentiment dies from Sue Wilson and the background of the second card was created with tissue paper spritzed with Nuvo shimmer powders and embossed with gold embossing powder (stay tuned for any upcoming video on how to do that.)

I show how to make this card in the video using the Distress Stencil background technique I learned in a Jennifer McGuire video. So to see many many faux butterfly cards and how easy they are to make, watch the new video here.

Merry Christmas Fun Handmade Gifts

I wanted to make a couple small handmade gifts for some dear friends and I saw a tp snowman on a Facebook group and adapted it for these fun gifts perfect for 2020. I used washi tape, googly eyes and punched circles and a triangle for this easy but fun tp gift.

I also found a tutorial for paper pine cone ornaments here and made a bunch to give for small gifts. I simply had to fold the designer paper squares and pin them onto a styrofoam oval. I added a "Hugs" heart created with a die from Poppy Stamps, some berries and leaves, and a ribbon to hang the ornaments on the Christmas tree.

I am entering the pinecones in the Anything But a Card challenge at Poppy Stamps.

I hope your Christmas is blessed and the New Year finds us all happy and healthy and able to share hugs and visits!

Huge Favor to Ask Of My Blog Followers

I am a finalist in a design team contest I really want to win. Can you go here on Facebook:

which should lead you right to my light up lantern card and post a comment saying: MY VOTE #7? I would appreciate it!

If that link for some reason does not work, please go to the Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/shopscrapbook101  AND look for the post that starts out: "Here is Round Two submissions for the Design Team Contest" with a bunch of pictures. Click on the pix and arrow through to mine (#7 lantern card) and leave a comment there: "My vote #7". Unless of course you think one of the others deserves your vote more:)

The two with the most votes will be chosen. The deadline is Christmas Eve night. Only one vote per person but if you can get kids or friends to vote too, that would be awesome!

Thanks and Merry Christmas! Karen

Video- Easy To Make Kite, Book and Men's Suit Fun Fold Cards

I love to make fun fold cards and in my newest video I share easy ways to make kite cards, a men's suit card and a book easel card. I search Pinterest and Facebook groups all the time for new ideas to try and save them on my Pinterest boards to give them a try when I have time.

Kite cards look like they should be easy to make but I couldn't figure them out until I found this tutorial here. I show in the video just how easy it is to make a folding kite shaped card. "Soar" is a favorite die from Suzanne Cannon and Quietfire Design, and below I show a kite on a slimline card:

I found a tutorial on line here with instructions on how to make a men's shirt card. I own a very cool die set from Creative Expressions with the pocket and shirt and tie so I used them but the tutorial does show how to make a men's shirt card without them.

This is the book easel fun fold card I show how to make in the new video. I learned how to make the card that looks like a book in this tutorial. The fun fold is easy and makes a beautiful book card to send to cheer someone. "Wishing You Well" is a favorite sentiment die from Sue Wilson. Here is another version of this book easel fun fold:

The flowers were created with a die from Paper Roses. The sentiment strips are from Simon Says Stamp, the designer paper is from Divinity Designs and I added some gems from Gina Marie Designs.

I had great fun making these fun fold cards and show in the new video that they are not hard to make. Thanks for your visit today and your support of my YouTube channel and videos!

My Last Holiday Cards With New Christmas Dies and Stencils

I  could not resist buying this gorgeous new Birch Press Designs String Art Nativity Star die and all I needed to do was attach it to a card front with a Taylored Expression sentiment strip to make a beautiful card.

I tried a mini bendi card using a Splitcoast tutorial with some new stencils from Paper Roses (the trees and sentiment) and The Greetery (the envelope stencil.) Here is another bendi card I made with non-traditional colors and  the same stencils adding Glitz Glitter Gel over part of the trees:

Hope your holiday season will be merry and bright and 2021 brings you health and a return to whatever brings you joy.

More Fun Fold Cards with Dies...To Die For Dies From My Newest Video

I recently discovered a new die company called Dies...To Die For available at Shopscrapbook101.com and am having so much fun creating cards with their dies! In my newest video here, I share pop up and fun fold cards and one of my favorites is this slimline bridge card with an acetate front where I floated sparkly musical notes. The shoes were die cut out of black and gold sparkly cardstock with a Shoes - Dancing die and the art easel is also a Dies...to Die For die. I created the sparkly background with Bubblegum pink Glitz Glitter Gel from Gina K Designs and Therm O Web through a stencil called Burst from Artplorations (a division of Stamplorations.) Here is another view of the slimline bridge card with an acetate front:

I think we will all be glad when a new year dawns and this is the front of another of the pop up cards I share in the video. "It's a New Year" was created with a beautiful layered die from Dies...to Die For and a gorgeous sunrise paper from Divinity Designs. The inside has a fun Pop and Swap surprise created with a die set from Karen Burniston:

Good riddance to 2020 and Hello to 2021! The years are also dies from Dies...To Die For, the stars were created with a die set from Crealies and an older punch. The funny saying is a free digital stamp from Taylored Expressions.

My last fun fold card from my newest video is a center stairstep card I made with some fun new wrapping paper dies from Dies...To Die For saying "That's a Wrap" (printed on computer) and "Goodbye 2020 - Nobody Likes You" (another free digital sentiment from Taylored Expressions.)

I hope my cards have inspired you to watch the video and try some of these awesome new dies I have shared!
