Fall Eclipse Card with Divinity Designs

I love to make eclipse cards and when I saw the new autumn leaf slatted die set from Divinity Designs along with their gorgeous fall colored scenery papers, I could not resist. I started with two pieces of identical fall scenery cardstock and die cut the slatted leaf die from one. I raised it on skinny adhesive strips and put on top so the pattern flows from one to the other. I also die cut the "happy fall" shadows  (Spellbinders) from the same piece, raised them and put back so that pattern flows as well. 

These papers and dies make eclipse cards so easy and the results are beautiful.

More Tiered Wiper or Pop Out Cards

Sam from Mixed Up Craft has been sharing videos with various versions of Tiered Wiper Cards and I have been having fun trying each one. I finally received my backordered Spellbinders Dumpster Fire and Favorite Side Effects dies and stamps and created this card with them. See the arrow? This is what happens when it is pulled:

Most recently, Sam shared a slimline double pop out version. I adapted it to fit into a 5 x 7 envelope. The super cute paper and pop outs are from Paper Wishes. Pull the tab and here is the surprise:

Tiered Pop Out Cards

I get so excited when I find a new fun fold to try and I learned how to make this Tiered Wiper or Pop Out card from a video by Sam Calcott here. It looks ok here with a fun embossed layered card front created with an embossing folder from Spellbinders and a super fun die and stamp set from Concord & 9th called Toast Time. But look at what happens when the right side is pulled: 

The hidden layers pop out with more toast and fruit! I tried Sam's version but decided to go with 3 layers instead of 4 and embossing without patterned paper layers. On both of the  cards shown I started with my favorite Star Dream Metallic Cardstock from CutCardStock.

Here is another tiered pop out card I made with a shell die and shells from Mudd Puddles and little fish from a Hero Arts confetti die. Here are a couple more views of this card:

The sea animals were made with a die set from Karen Burniston. But still pictures just don't do these cards justice as the pop out motion is amazing. So I made a short reel to show you:

Spellbinders Sweater Weather Friend Interactive Card

The cozy sweater on this adorable reindeer was stitched for amazing texture using Spellbinders July  Stitching Die of the Month "Sweater Weather Friend." It is not sweater weather here but I do like the opportunity in July to get a few Christmas cards done for my stash. This card has a fun interactive element- just look at what happens when the top is pulled:

Flower Dies To Shape or Not?

Susan Tierney-Cockburn is the queen of flower dies and she can make a realistic looking flower out of paper like no other. I watched her shape her new Primrose dies in a video and thought even I could make a beautiful 3D Primrose bouquet. Susan's Serenity Gardens release at Spellbinders this month includes many flower and other dies. I received both the Primrose and the Astrantia sets, and decided to show them both shaped and flat. This card is a fun fold, and here is a look at the card when it is opened:

The embossed pieces were created with Spellbinders Regal Lattice 3D embossing folder and the other dies on this card were also from Spellbinders. I used magnets to close the three layers and here is a reel showing how this card opens to reveal the lovely flower and layers on the inside:

Sending Musical Love With Spellbinders June Stitched Die of the Month

I had so much fun making this card with "Luau Beats" Spellbinders Stitched Die of the Month. I stitched the Hawaiian drum, leaves and guitar in just a few minutes. The embossed background was created with Spellbinders Favorite Song 3D embossing folder. The musical notes and stave is from Bibi Cameron's Musical Notes and Stave Pop-Up Die Set.

More Easy to Make Eclipse Cards

I have been having fun with the new Double Vision Eclipse Technique which is easy to do cutting and raising strips of either patterned paper or embossed cardstock as I did on this card. The pattern flows from one strip to the next with some raised on pop dots. The embossing folder I used is a favorite from Spellbinders and I featured the new Awareness Ribbon also from Spellbinders. 

I cut the strips on this card the same and popped up the same two, but I chose a beautiful 3D butterfly embossing folder also from Spellbinders. I cut out an embossed butterfly and popped it up.

I saw a card from StampinNotes like this one with 1/2 inch strips of a patterned scene paper on the front diagonal cut flap and on the inside. So again the pattern flows through the strips and onto the back too. Here is another view of this striking card:

New Ways to Eclipse with Double Stenciling

Hero Arts has a new release called You've Got a Friend and I got to play with several of the new stencils in that collection. The background stencil is called Check Please and is a perfect addition to anyone's stencil collection with classic checks. I combined it with the new layering stencil set called Bitty Floral and then cut strips raising every other one for a fun new way to eclipse.

I played with other ways to use the stencils on this shaped card cut out with Hero Arts Infinity Butterfly dies. I lightly added teal ink through the Check Please stencil, then moved it over and added some light yellow ink. I chose to overstencil with just two of the stencils in the Bitty Floral stencil and then cut another smaller butterfly out to raise and eclipse. The perfect addition to both of these cards were Spellbinders Color Essentials Gems.

April Class Cards with Spellbinders and Waffle Flower

This month at Harts N Scraps, my students had great fun making cards with some favorite products from Spellbinders and Waffle Flower. They could choose to make an Old Fashioned or Bloody Mary with a drink die and embossing folder from Spellbinders. Then they made a multi-colored tunnel with the Rainbow Slice Tunnel die from Spellbinders and a crackle embossing folder also from Spellbinders. 

Then the students made two cards with favorite dies, stamps and stencils from Waffle Flower.

Rooting For You with Spellbinders Stitching Die of the Month

Every month I get to play with Spellbinders Stitching Die of the Month, and April's is perfect for spring and encouragement. The carrots, radishes and onions can be stitched or not - both ways have great texture. There are 22 dies in this set so it is a great bargain whether you like to sew or not. Details on Spellbinders Dies of the Month clubs can be found here, but if now it is not a good time to join, you can always check the website next month after the 10th and if it was not sold out, the dies are available for purchase on their own. 

I created a bridge z-fold with extra areas to plant in the middle. The background sky was made with Spellbinders Head in the Clouds embossing folder and some blue ink. Here is a view of this card closed and ready to mail:

More SCT Crop and Create Cards from the Weekend

In addition to all the dies, stamps, stencils, paper etc. in the huge box we receive for Scrapbook and Cards Today Crop and Create Cardmaking Delivered, we also receive this amazing bound book with all the written instructions and pictures we can refer back to anytime. The two cards shown were made with Gentle Giant dies and stamps from Hero Arts.

Gina K Designs taught us how to make 3 beautiful sympathy cards with her stamps, stencils and dies. Here are the other two I made:

I love rub ons and interactive cards and this was a favorite taught by Scrapbook.com. The birds, branch and sentiment all slide up and down with the hidden message. I also made these two cards in her class:

Spellbinders kit included these unique dies and positive stamped messages as well as the fun bubbly embossing folder. Here are a couple more cards I made in class:

Brutus Monroe gave us his washi strips and washi maps and the clouds and raindrops seemed perfect for this new die and stamp set from Spellbinders.

Back with New Sparkle and Washi Tape Picture

I just got back from an amazing crafty cruise learning from Karen Burniston and enjoying the amazing generosity of our host, Scrapp'n Savvy. We were gifted so many different products and I was so excited to win a package of AALL Create Layer It Up washi tape sets that I have been wanting to try. I also recently received a sample Sparkle Overlay from Brutus Monroe in my SCT Cardmaking Delivered box (classes on line this weekend!) and I had to order some right away. I like the sparkle of overlay foils but don't always want to pull out my MINC. These new Sparkle Overlays have adhesive on the back and can be used to add sparkle to just about anything. I combined those two new products on each of these cards. This AALL Layer It up is called Blueish Parlor and I die cut and embossed with a Spellbinders set I also won. The Brutus Monroe Sparkle was added to a patterned paper and die cut with another Spellbinders arches die.

My favorite of the AALL washi tapes that are torn to create a picture is this Painted Desert. Here is another card I made with it:

I tried to attach the Sparkle Overlay to an acetate card front but ended up with many bubbles, I don't recommend unless you have a different way of attaching. But I covered it up with the pretty desert scene and some dragonflies and the recipient will not even know. 

I watched Simon Hurley play with the Brutus Monroe Sparkle Overlays and he showed cutting them in strips and then blending ink over them, so I gave it a try. This beautiful AAL Layer It Up is called Studio Botannicals. 

Another lovely floral Layer It UP is this Peony Pinks which I attached to a piece of pink marble paper covered with a Sparkle Overlay with an eclipsed HBD message. 

I added 1/8 inch strips in between the Terrasse Fleurie washi strips, cut it down and layered on another Sparkle Overlay background. I also punched some butterflies out of the sparkle and washi tape extra pieces. 

The sparkle of the overlays is so hard to capture in still photos, so I filmed a short reel, but Blogger is not allowing me to upload??  You can go to my Instagram or Facebook Page (icons on the right) to see it.

Stepping Outside My Box with Jaycee's All My Senses Collection

Have you ever taken a class from or watched Jaycee Gaspar create? He is an amazingly talented designer, and I was very excited to see Spellbinders has teamed up with him and released a new collection of dies, stencils and Press & Foil Plates that he designed! Our styles are very different and that is OK- I have stepped outside my box and created some cards with his new collection and I love how they turned out! 

My favorite of the new collection is the Whisper Weave Press & Foil Plates with cutting dies for the sentiments. Press & Foil plates can be pressed with just ink of course, but I chose to add the sparkle of foil to the gorgeous ladies, butterflies and sentiments on the sides of this tri-fold card. The shaped pieces of the tri-fold were created with Spellbinders Essential Arches dies. I added some fun color to the right side with Jaycee's Ambient Aura stencil set. 

Here is another view of this tri-fold. The centerpiece beauty is Jaycee's Fragmented Gaze die cut lady with a few fussy cut butterflies from the Whisper Weave set. I added a couple more foiled images to the front and back of this card when it is closed to mail:

The pieces of the new die sets from Jaycee Gaspar and Spellbinders go together like a puzzle and create a really unique picture. This die set is called Sensory Facets. I embossed the finished image with Spellbinders Soaring Embossing Folder and added a "Chase Joy" sentiment.
