It’s the first Saturday of a new month and time for another fun challenge at Send a Smile 4 Kids! The theme for this challenge is Birthday Cards 4 Kids, but you can choose to participate in our challenge with any card appropriate for a child.

I made this cake box card with a die from Paper Wishes for a child who loves dinosaurs. I added dino stickers from Pipstickers and a perfect sentiment die from Whimsy Stamps.

Be sure to check out the rest of the cards from TEAM SAS here and we would love it if you entered our challenge.

Fabulous Folded Cake Box Cards and Video

Who doesn't love birthday cakes? We all do and in my newest video here I show how to make this floral stand up birthday card and many others with the newest Fabulous Folded die set from Paper Wishes. I am a subscriber so at the end of each month I receive a fun surprise in the mail and this month's die set is the Cake Box Card die set. But the best part is you do not need to be a subscriber to purchase this or any of their Fabulous Folded die sets and even without the subscription savings, the prices are so reasonable!

As I show in the video, these cake box cards can stand up as shown and then lay flat to mail. But I show step by step how the cake box can also be attached inside and card and pop up when the card is opened and here is the card I made:

The Cake Box Die Set includes many flower dies, the candle and the tag as shown in the inside of this card and the first card above. On the front of this card I used stitched flower dies from My Favorite Things and a birthday sentiment die from Karen Burniston. Here is another card I made with the cake popping up inside the card:

HB2U is a die from Picket Fence and "Enjoy" is from Karen Burniston.

I made this cake box card for my grandson who loves dinosaurs with dino stickers from Pipstickers and a fun die from Whimsy Stamps.

I had so much fun playing with the new Cake Box Card Die Set from Paper Wishes and hope my cards inspire you to watch the new video and have a play yourself.

More Pop Up Collage Card With Karen Burniston Dies

This is a slimline card I shared in my newest video here and the front features a new set of dies from Whimsy Stamps called Heartbeats Slimline. But of course as is the case on all cards featuring Karen Burniston's pop up dies, the real magic happens when the card is opened:

My message is: "You are in my heart". The new pop up die from Karen Burniston called Hearts Collage Pop-up includes all the small hearts you see and I also used the new Hearts Crosshatch Die Set. Still pictures do not show the pop up movement of these cards when opened, but of course you can see it on the 4 cards I share in the new video here. But if you have just a few minutes now, here is a mini movie I made to show this magic:

Note to those of you who subscribe to my blog and get this in your email - Not sure why, but videos in my blogposts do not show up in the Follow. It newsletter, so to see this mini-video of the pop up collage, click on the title of this blogpost and visit my blog directly.

This is a square kid's birthday card I also made with dies from KB. Can you guess what is going to pop up inside this card?

Another new die in the recent release is the Balloon Collage Add-ons that works with the Hearts Pop Up Collage die to created this fun look. The monkey is also from KB and is part of the Monkey and Lion set. The signature rectangle piece was cut with a wavy wonky rectangle die from Kat Scrappiness.

I find myself needing more kids cards than any other categories, so I am going to make a mini-slimline version of this card in my Facebook Live this Thursday at 11:00 here on my Facebook page, so be sure to join me there either live or on replay later.

More Fun Fold Cards From My Newest Video

This is another cute fun fold card for kids I show in my newest video here. The adorable H and B animal letters are from a set from Sizzix and the stitched balloons are from Crealies.

It is a wiper card and that motion is hard to capture in a still picture, so here is a mini-video for you to see:

I made the front of this slimline easel card with a die from Whimsy Stamps called Slimline Window Tiles. I added some texture with an embossing folder from Couture Creations. The adorable tacos, avocados and nachos were cut with whittle dies from Poppystamps and then I stamped the perfect sentiments with a Poppystamps set called "Live is Sweet." Here is another view of this slimline easel card:

I had so much fun creating these fun fold cards for special kids and hope you will watch the video and then stop by my Facebook page for more fun fold follies in the LIVE on Thursday.

I am entering the slimline card in the Embossing challenge at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday (I used an embossing folder on the front.)

More 3D Embossing Folder Cards with Stencils and Mirror Cardstock

As I show in my newest video here, cards can have easy gorgeous texture by using 3D embossing folders and different kinds of paper and mediums. The brass colored mirror card on this masculine love card was embossed with a Sizzix 3D embossing folder called Cobblestone. The wood carved heart was created with a die from Impression Obsession.

I also love to use stencils with my 3D embossing folders as I did on this card. I embossed the white cardbase with an embossing folder from Stampin' Up and then brushed on green ink through a beautiful A Colorful Life stencil. I also created a stencil with Sue Wilson's sentiment dies and brushed blue ink onto the cardfront through that handmade stencil.

On my last two cards in the new video I applied Therm O Web's Transfer Gel Duo through stencils and added foil before embossing the card fronts with 3D embossing folders. This hugs card features a stencil from A Colorful Life Designs and a Sizzix 3D embossing folder.

I used a stencil from Whimsy Stamps for the foiled stars and a Sizzix 3D embossing folder over a text embossing folder on this card.

I hope you will watch the new video here and see why I love 3D embossing folders so much!

Kitty and Peace Tangram Cards From My Newest Video

Once I discovered the many tangrams that can be made with just 7 geometric shapes in the Chinese Puzzle Die from Crealies, I made many tangrams and cards for my newest video here. I am not sure what to call this shape, but it reminded me of a candle or chalice and it seemed perfect for this circular "peace" card. I embossed the gold foil pieces with a 3D embossing folder from Simon Says Stamp.

I found so many cat tangrams that I decided to make another 4 page bookbinding card with my favorites. This one is a Christmas card for a special kitty lover I know. Each page has a different Christmas kitty tangram made with the same 7 geometric shapes in the Chinese puzzle.

The sentiment dies are from Dies...To Die For, the bows, wreath and jingle bells are dies from Karen Burniston and the designer paper is from Whimsy Stamps.

I had so much fun creating tangrams and cards with them for my newest video and hope my cards inspire you to try some of the ideas and products!

Video - Fabulous Fun Folds For Fantastic Kids

I love to make cards for kids and fun fold cards and in my newest video here I show how to make many kids fun fold cards without expensive fun fold dies. Of course I am Die Cut Crazy so all the cards are decorated with dies from my favorite diecut companies.

This is the card I make in the video but with some changes as you can see here:

My first version features some gorgeous blue mirror card embossed with a wave embossing folder but I made that at a friend's house and don't own them, so I made a new background with my favorite new technique - salad spinning. (Check my YouTube channel for several videos I have posted with that awesome technique!) I die cut both with the Hero Arts Fish and Bubbles Confetti die and added 3 Whittle Fish (Poppystamps) and a fish pun from the awesome Whittle Sealife Sentiments stamp set also from Poppystamps. But just look what pops up when the card is opened:

I saw a cute card by Patti Gilliam with a fish face and then found a tutorial by Frenchie where I learned this easy fun fold. Here is a close-up of the fish and his googly eyes:

On the inside I used Graphic 45 papers, more Whittle Fish and Whittle Sealife Sentiment Stamps from Poppystamps and a stitched rectangle die from Gina Marie Designs.

Isn't this Hee Haw Cow from Whimsy Stamps so so so cute? I just couldn't resist him. Here are some more photos showing how this fun fold opens:

When you have a stamp and matching die, it is easy to die cut a hole to see through on the front and middle fold to the back of this card. I paper pieced my Hee Haw funny cow.

Both of these and the other fun fold cards I share in the new video are much easier to see and appreciate in the new video here.

I am entering the first card in the Anything Goes Challenge at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday. and in the Just Add Water challenge at Poppystamps.

Easy to Make Faker Shaker and See Through Shaker Cards From my Newest Video

I like to make regular shaker cards but was intrigued by an idea I can across recently to make super simple faker shaker cards with sealable see through envelopes we can use to protect our A2 cards. I show in my newest video how I added sand and seashell sequins into a see through bag after I first inserted a background created with pink iridescent mirror card embossed with Stampin' Up's Seashell 3D Embossing Folder. I added a sea horse and some shells die cut with a die from IO and a stamped sentiment from Joy's Stamps. The iridescent mirror card and acetate are hard to photogragh, so I suggest you watch the new video here to see all the unique shaker cards much better.

Here are a couple views of a mermaid faker shaker I made with dies from Impression Obsession and a new layered water stencil. And here is a slimline kid's card with a mini faker shaker in one of the windows:

I created the slimline with Whimsy Stamps Slimline Marquee and Card Builder Dies and added some super cute frogs with googly eyes cut with dies from Crealies and Simon Says Stamp. The wish sentiment is from Memory Box and is continued on the inside of the slimline card:

I share one more new way to make a shaker card in my new video that I learned how to do from a Jennifer McGuire video. The center circle window is a see through shaker and the circle cut out of the stenciled floral front is on the inside of the card. I used Altenew's Layered Beauty Within Simple Coloring Stencil for the flowers and added some leaves with a stencil from A Colorful Life Designs. The sentiment strip is from Simon Says Stamp. Here is a look at this card "all shook up":

I had great fun creating shaker cards in new and unique ways for my newest video and hope you will watch it here and try some of the ideas and products I shared.

Cardmaking With Easel Fun Folds Of all Shapes and Sizes

I love to make easel cards and in my newest video I share some unique versions of easel cards and how to make a triple butterfly easel card.
I always wanted to try a triple easel card but hadn't until I found this tutorial which explained a simple way to make them. I cut my butterflies and the folded butterfly shaped cards with Hero Arts Infinity Butterfly Dies and then debossed them all with Altenew's Dotted Starburst Debossing Die. I applied Glitz Glitter Gel (from Gina K Designs and Therm O Web) in the same color as the cardstock of each butterfly through A Colorful Life Designs Boho Glam Stencil. The "happy hello" is from Karen Burniston. Here is a view of the triple easel butterfly card folded flat to mail:

I show how easy this dramatic triple easel butterfly is to make in the new video. Here is another triple easel card I share in the new video:

I used Tonic Studios scalloped circles to make this triple easel card. Each circle is decorated with Trinity Stamps Layered Fireworks stencil with some inking and some gold Glitz Glitter Gel and I added another Karen Burniston sentiment. The side view shows that I added more stars with a stencil from Whimsy Stamps.

I had so much fun trying new ways to make easel cards and hope you will check out the new video to see all the cards and how I made the triple butterfly card.
