Video - Cardmaking with Vellum Techniques, Stencils and Dies

Vellum is a cardmaking product that is often overlooked when making cards with more popular items like stencils and dies. In my newest video here I share many unique slimline and mini-slimline cards made with the soft look of vellum and also share several vellum techniques. One of my favorite vellum techniques is the spotlight technique and I show how to do it in the video on this beautiful wedding card:

The bride stamp is an older favorite from The Ton. Another technique I share in the video is how I "stretched" and raised the hummingbird on this card:

As I show in the video, this technique is most effective with black ink on vellum, but I did try adding some coloring on this slimline version of the card. The floral slimline frame on this card is from Trinity Stamps and  the sentiment die is from Karen Burniston. The hummingbird was stamped with a layered stamp set from Hero Arts. 

Here is another favorite card I shared in the video featuring the softness of see through vellum on a tri-fold mini-slimline card. The gorgeous layered roses were created with a die set from Altenew and the see through sentiment stickers are from Stamplorations.

RubberStampMadness Summer 2021 Article Cards

I am honored to share that 4 of my cards are featured in a three page article in the newest issue of RubberStampMadness! Most of the cards feature stamping with stencils and this is one of the cards. I applied yellow and orange ink through a Mini Galaxy stencil from The Crafter's Workshop and then over stamped the gorgeous "Part of the Dance" stamp from Technique Junkies in black ink. As I so often do I completed the card with some of my favorite gems from Gina Marie Designs. 

I love how this card turned out with the combination of a stamped text background created with the Romantic Script Background stamp from My Favorite Things and the layered floral Sweet Spring stencil from Altenew! I added a sentiment strip stamp from Taylored Expressions and more gems from Gina Marie Designs.

I told the author of the article about my cards that this card was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest years ago, but do not have a link to credit the original cardmaker. The beautiful bride stamp set which includes the sentiment stamp is called Haute Wedding Dress from The Ton and the stencil is from Carabelle Studio. After I did the stamping and stenciling, I created a reverse stencil and added Irisdescent Glitz Glitter Gel from Gina K Designs and Therm O Web. 

One of my cards chosen for the article included no stamping or stencils but is a favorite of mine featuring gorgeous dies from Sue Wilson and Creative Expressions in a slimline format. And of course because I almost always do, I added some gorgeous gems from Gina Marie Designs.

More Gorgeous Embossed Cards With Tonic Studios Specialty Cardstocks

My favorite of the Tonic Studios specialty cardstocks I show in my newest video is the Iridescent Mirror Card like I used on the embossed fronts of these two cards. On both of these cards I embossed different colors of Iridescent Mirror Card with a Tim Holtz Sizzix 3D embossing folder and then added more texture with foliage dies from The Ton and Crealies in the same color of iridescent cardstock. Both cards feature sentiment dies from Sue Wilson and Creative Expressions. I also used the pink iridescent mirror card on this wedding card: 

Catch the rainbows in that lovely mirror card?! I used a floral 3D embossing folder from Nellie's Choice on this card and on the inside too with a sentiment die from Cutplorations:

I used a new layered butterfly die set from Hero Arts as well as many colors of Tonic's Pearlescent cardstock on this card. I embossed the cardfront with a SU embossing folder and the middle butterfly was cut with Tonic's glitter cardstock.

Video - Die Cut Crazy Video Series - Unique Slimline Cards With Slimline Dies

I am die cut crazy and know we can make slimline cards without slimline dies. But the dies make the cards so much more interesting and fun as I show in my newest video here. This is the card I show how to make in the video:

I cut all the stitched slimline dies from a set by Kat Scrappiness and taped them together before brushing on colorful ink. I framed a Clear Views Transparency picture in a new Love Ornament die from Hero Arts.

One of my favorite new slimline dies is this leafy border slimline dies from Trinity Stamps. I cut it in dark green and vellum and layered them on a green woodgrain cardbase. The scripty "hello" is a die from Tonic Studios. 

The shattered slimline die that is the background on this fall card is a new die from The Ton. I filled in the puzzle with embossed gold, polka-dotted green and orange pieces. "Happy Hello" is a die from Karen Burniston as is the gold maple leaf, and the other two leaves were cut with stitched dies from Impression Obsession.

Friends are the Sweetest Gift of All Tri-Shutter Card

I made this fun fold shutter Christmas card for a dear friend and she should have received it by now so I can share here. I started with a red pre-cut pre-scored tri-shutter or Funky Fold Accordion cardbase from The Paper Cut. Then I simply decorated with the Retro Merry Christmas die from Tim Holtz  Sizzix, several presents made with the Taylored Expressions All Wrapped Up Die, an old border punch from Martha Stewart, The Ton Holiday Bows stamp set and matching dies and Tim Holtz's Peppermint Layering Stencil. The perfect stamp sentiment is an older one from Great Impressions. Here are some more pictures:

CASED Stenciled Wedding Card

I love my Clarity Stencil brushes and was on the look out for videos and ideas on how to use them in unique ways when I came across this blog post with 4 video tutorials. I fell in love with her card like this and had to even order the same wedding dress set from The Ton that she used. I did change up the color and stencil and used a Tim Holtz die for the sentiment, but the card itself was CASED and I thank Justine for her inspiration. It is a very simple idea- simply use the Clarity Stencil brush to lightly brush color through a stencil and then stamp the beautiful bride. I added the floral bodice and a few floral sequins.

Spotlight Vellum Wedding Card

I saw this brief video on Facebook about the Spotlight Vellum technique and knew immediately I had to save it and try it soon. I just received this gorgeous wedding dress stamp which is part of a set from The Ton and thought it would be perfect for the technique. I love how the card turned out! The wedding dress image was stamped on vellum and also on a scrap of white cardstock. I fussy cut the image on the white cardstock. I also stamped the Congratulations and the floral bottom of the skirt from the same The Ton Wedding Dress set. I used Archival black ink so it dried very quickly on the vellum. I attached the vellum piece to a pretty dp from Ken Oliver. As shown in the video, the white cardstock dress was attached with temporary tape to the back of the vellum dress image, then permanent adhesive or glue is applied to the back of the white piece which adheres it to the bright designer paper. The temporary tape piece is then removed. Very easy to do but oh so effective! 

Holiday Bows Merry Christmas Card

I am trying so hard to resist buying more stamps or dies because I have so many I have not even used yet. But when I saw this new Christmas bows stamp/die set from The Ton and the Merry Christmas die from Die-Versions, I knew there was no resisting- they just had to come and live here in my craft room with me:) The bows are two step stamps and they are so realistic looking you swear they are two dimensional. I used my MISTI to line them up and made a red, blue and green bow in the different sizes. I cut two negative bow shapes out of a white piece with the matching bow dies from The Ton, attached a gold washi tape strip, and then embossed with a Sizzix snowflake embossing folder. I popped that piece up with pop dots and put the red and blue bows on the cardbase showing through the die cut bow shapes. I die cut Die-Version's Merry Christmas, attached it and added a popped up small green bow to complete the cheery Christmas card.
