Another Moon or Luna Card

The theme of most of the cards I made for a gift for my daughter for Christmas was Luna or moon. I saw this moon stamp from Altenew and knew I just had to buy it. It is a layered stamp and looks very realistic. I created a night sky with light blue, dark blue and black Distress Inks. I stamped the moon and the Apache Blessing stamp from DRS. I mixed white ink and water and used Tim Holtz's spatter brush to make the starry galaxy look.

I am featuring a sweet digi from DRS Designs called Skating Penguin on my CAS celebration card for a child today. I printed him, did a little coloring and paper piecing and cut him out. I created a red card base with an embossing folder and popped him up on mounting tape for dimension when attaching. I added a cheerful "Jingle Bells" cut with a die from Die-Versions.

I printed a beautiful stamp from DRS Designs called Mrs. Ed for my card. I die cut a stitched card front and sponged on blue and light brown ink after some masking. I stamped the "wonderful" sentiment from Ranger to complete the CAS card.

My first card above features a sweet digital stamp from DRS Designs called I Scene a Stocking. I printed it on lightly patterned paper and one white and cut it out. The card base is a top folding red patterned cardstock. I attached a green strip down the middle and then attached the stocking scene. 

My second card features a cute birthday girl colored digi from The Paper Shelter. I printed her on white cardstock and cut out in the shape of a square. I cut a slightly larger square out of the front of a two sided purple cardstock and attached her in the inside of the card. I die cut Happy Birthday from Die-Versions, added glitter paste and a purple gem to the bow and attached the card.

A Mixed Media Newbie Masculine Card

I am very new to Mixed Media type cards, but am having fun experimenting. I saw in a video someone put gesso on a brightly colored dp to tone it down, then added paint. I don't own any paint but I use my B/B/CB (Brushos, Bisters and Color Burst) powders for color instead of paint, so I tried that after the gesso dried on this piece of polka dotted dp. Not much happened, because the gesso prevented the colored liquid from soaking in and it mostly sat on top. However, I used a silver iridescent glimmer mist and blue Brushos and the card front is sparkly and has a tint of blue. I stamped some words from a background stamp by DRS Designs in several places. I used a gold texture paste through a stencil for some great texture and dimension. I created a black spray with black soot distress ink and water and sprinkled it on with a small paint brush. And I added some more color and texture with bottle and container caps dipped in blue Stamp Paint from Viva. I stamped the sentiment from My Favorite Things on a matching scrap, layered on black and attached. The headphone die is also from My Favorite Things. I layered the completed card front onto a square black card base.

I have these cool new dies from Tim Holtz for Sizzix that I had not used yet, so continued the Mixed Media theme inside the card by simply die cutting the side of the white piece.

I am a newbie but am having so much fun you will see more of this side of my cardmaking in the future for sure.

My first card above features Spaceboy Skip from DRS Designs. Isn't he perfect for a boy's birthday card? I paper pieced Skip and his friend, colored in the stars with a yellow gel pen and added a couple punched stars too before layering on a gold square card base. 

Can you tell I am a Grandma to a young boy? I am always picking out digital stamps from our sponsors perfect for boys. This maze is a digital stamp from Doodle Pantry called Amaze-ing Words One. I love to create cards for our kids they can interact with. I cut out the Birthday Boy maze and the navy blue card front with stitched rectangle dies from Lil' Inker. I added a couple blue gems and the perfect sentiment from Craft Lounge.

My first card above features a super cute Leonard Pig digi stamp from DRS Designs. I created a joy fold card and Leonard and his roses were paperpieced on the top fold. This is what the inside looks like (Valenswine's Day from DRS Designs too.)

My second Valentine is a shaker card featuring cute digis from Doodle Pantry called Love Worms. I printed the colored versions of the digis and created a circular shaker top with acetate, mounting tape and a circle cut with Nestabilities. I filled the shaker with sequins and tiny red hearts. I embossed both cards with my favorite candy heart embossing folder from Cuttlebug and added a sentiment from the same digi set by Doodle Pantry.

If you are wondering why we are starting with Christmas holiday cards already, it is because we want to remind you to start making cards for our kids in the hospitals we serve at Christmas time. Each child should receive a card, of course, but we would also like to donate enough that each child could pick some for family or friends, teachers or classmates they are missing while in the hospital over the holidays. Of course you do not have to donate your card to participate in our challenges, but our kids sure hope you do.

My first card above features Reindeer Ralph and Simple Pleasures stamps from DRS Designs. I cut the front of a red card base down to two inches and embossed some hanging ornaments. I printed the lovely holiday sentiment on a white piece, punched a snowflake in the top and attached to the inside of the red card. I printed Reindeer Ralph on a patterned dp, cut him out and attached him with a pop dot to raise.  

This sweet digital image is called "In the Meadow, We can Build a Snowman" by Reece's Scrap Pieces at Stitchy Bear Digital Outlet. I printed her in color, created some snow drifts with glitter and paper and layered her on a blue piece. CAS but really cute for one of our kids.

I used some fun stamps from DRS Designs for my first card above. I printed "Peculiar Pumpkin Patch" on white paper as well as several fall colored dps, and paper pieced each funny pumpkin. The Brilliant Fall sentiment is also from DRS and I printed it and attached it at an angle with a few punched leaves.

My second card is an autumn leaves shaker card created with punched colorful leaves and a cute digital image from Jellypark called "Jumping in Leaves". As usual, I paper pieced the clothing in fall colors.

My first card above just makes me smile, and I hope it will have the same result when one of our kids gets it:) The glow worm and lol sentiment are from DRS Designs. I stamped and paper pieced the glow worm on a white piece that shows through the frame cut with two Nestabilities square dies. I  colored his wings and bum with a sparkly gel pen and IRL they really shine. Then I stamped the sentiment, cut out with deckle scissors and attached to the front of this CAS card. 

"I Love my Swing" is the name of this cute digital stamp from A Day for Daisies. Isn't she sweet? I printed her on blue paper, paper pieced, did a little coloring and cut out the "hi" (die from Paper Smooches.) So easy, but so cute.

A Card for My Daughter

Sometimes I see stamps and I just have to get them because they are perfect to make a card for someone I love. That was the case with both of these stamps from two of my favorite stamp companies. Of course, if you follow my blog at all, you know I design for Crackerbox Palace and love their stamps. The lady with the sun is one of their stamps, and I paper pieced her dress and sun, and colored the rest with Copics. The sentiment is a new one I won recently from DRS Designs and I just knew my daughter would love it. So do I! It is a perfect wish for anyone special in our lives. I embossed the golden card base with a new embossing folder from Darice. CAS card, but perfect for my favorite daughter who I am seeing tomorrow:)

Another Stencil Day Two Card

I wanted to try stamping with a word background stamp inside the stencil and this is the result of that experiment. The word background stamp is by DRS Stamps and is a combination of three beautiful sentiments. I cut a shell stencil with my Silhouette and stamped and sponged the inside of the hole with aqua blue ink. Then I masked the shell and stamped again, this time with a very light blue ink. I stamped it once more on blue card stock with aqua blue ink and cut out my favorite of the sentiments, attaching that with mounting tape to raise.

I love using the positives and negatives of die cuts and so I attached the shell flourish die cut piece in the inside of the card.

Still learning and experimenting, and hoping my frequent posts this weekend aren't driving my subscribers crazy:)

Double Stenciled Apache Blessing Card

I was playing again with stencils after watching the videos on the on line Stenciled class I am taking this weekend and think the barb wire from TCW might be my favorite of my new plastic stencils I have bought so far. I wanted some more options for stencils to play with, so turned on my magic Silhouette machine and die cut a couple stencils that I downloaded for free from Get Silvered here.  Pam at Get Silvered has awesome free Studio files and great ideas that she shares on her blog. I sponged her floral background on the top with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink and oversponged with the barb wire stencil with Wild Honey Distress Ink. Then I stamped the beautiful Apache Blessing stamp from DRS, rounded the corners and added a wooden dragonfly (Recollections) that I also sponged with pink ink and the barb wire stencil.

I think I like it even with unusual color choices?

TTCRD and Papertake Weekly Challenges

Anything Goes at Through the Craftroom Door and at Papertake Weekly (with animals) and I am sharing a card I just made with my new favorite paper. Have you seen the new Tim Holtz Kraft-Core Shattered card stock by Core'dinations? I just discovered it this week at JoAnn's (on sale!) and I love it so much I am going back today to get some more. It combines kraft paper - a favorite of mine- with awesome colors with a crackled look! As you can see through the stars border (Martha Stewart punch) the other side is kraft colored. I embossed the horse (DRS Designs) with black embossing powder. I cut several stars with my Nestabilities, and scored from each point on the larger one. Then I folded the lines and pushed out the center to make it dimensional, and attached with a couple pop dots.

Challenges 4 Everybody and Sentimental Sunday Challenges

Anything Goes (always) at Challenges 4 Everybody, and at Sentimental Sundays they want to see a card for a special woman (with a sentiment.) I picked up a cute Disney set at JoAnns a while ago and it had not been inked yet, so I used Minnie to make this funny card for a special woman. The sentiment (from DRS) cracks me up and would do the same for most of the women I know. I paper pieced Minnie's dress and bow to match the diamonds in the background, popped her up with pop dots and added some doodling to frame her.

Art Impressions Stamps and Charisma Cardz Challenges

Charisma Cardz Challenge wants male cards this week and Art Impressions Stamps Challenge want cards for husbands or fathers. I found this fun Ultimate Remote stamp from DRS at a stamp show recently and just had to buy it. It would be perfect for Father's Day or Dad's birthday for the right guy. I stamped it on kraft paper, highlighted some of the remote buttons and attached to a green card with mounting tape to raise. The brown piece was embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder and then distressed with brown ink. I added some tabs and masculine brads to complete the card.

Creative Cottage & C4C63 Challenges

The challenge this week at Creative Cottage was to create and post a card for someone special at Christmas and at Crazy 4 Challenges was a Christmas card. This CAS card was one I made for a special soldier overseas and sent to OWH for an Any Hero card. The stamp is from DRS Designs and the folder is from Cuttlebug.

I Did It & One Stitch at a Time Halloween Card

 

I made a fun Halloween card for the challenges at I Did It and One Stitch at a Time. I used a combination of the fence wheel from SU and the Martha Stewart punched fence, a fun stamp from DRS and a bat sticker to make this CAS but cute card.

Repeat Impressions Sketch #S2210

 

I created this card using the sketch from Repeat Impressions and really liked how it turned out. The oval stamp is from Northwoods and I stamped it three times, brayered the water and sky separately, cut out and put back together. The sentiment is from DRS Stamps.

Cuttlebug Challenge BD Card

 

This card qualifies for this week's challenge at Cuttlebug Challenges: make a birthday card and use atleast two layers and of course, use CB embossing. I made this BD card for my husband- he loves kitties and orange is his favorite color. There are two sections to the card and I like how it folds together. I embossed the entire orange piece which is the normal A2 size. The brown piece is attached on the inside of the orange card and folds over to the top of the card where I placed the kitty looking out a window stamp. I won this awesome stamp (and others) from Just for Fun stamps recently. The sentiment is from DRS Stamps. I added a couple leaves to the inside cut and embossed with Nesties.
