New ways to eclipse and less holiday stress - that is what I am sharing today. I am starting a new series on the CutCardStock Blog and here posting Christmas cards to encourage you to get ahead of the holiday rush.
The eclipse technique where the pattern flows from the background through raised objects on cards is not new. It started with alphabet dies years ago. New slatted dies like the ones from Craft Addiction UK have made the look trendy again.
There is a detailed tutorial on how to make this card on the CutCardStock blog here. Basically, I cut a square cardbase out of the gorgeous Stardream Metallic Copper Cardstock. I cut the slatted circle (ornament) out of the patterned paper and also out of two layers of leftover thick metallic copper cardstock to raise it for the eclipse look. Merry Christmas and its shadow (from Crealies) was also raised on fun foam for more of the eclipse look. Here is another look at the card I created:
