Scrapbook Friday

This is a page I did from when Nate was only a few months old and went to Nana & Papa's lake house for the first time. The cabin pix was on patterned paper I used as the background.

Madison Mingle Card

This is one of my favorite of the shoebox projects we did last weekend. Happens to be designed by my daughter:) Love the CAS look- the circle is stamped with white ink, dried and then colored with colored pencils- a technique called Black Magic that is fun and easy and looks great. I also love the TY stamp- not sure who makes it tho.

Another Raisin Boat Dock Card

I took pictures of my favorite cards this weekend and am sharing this week as I was gone all weekend and don't have any new original cards to show you. Can you tell the dock is one of my favorite stamps from Raisin Boat? (wwwraisinboat.com) The background was brayered in and then stamped with black. Another gorgeous card from RB!

Did you know you can buy or rent stamps from Raisin Boat? My good friend fell in love with the dock stamp Monday when she saw the card I posted, went on line Monday and ordered it and got it Tuesday in the mail! Talk about great service!

Bouncing Brayer RB card

This was another card that was demoed this weekend in Madison by Raisin Boat. I had always wanted to try the Bouncing Brayer technique but hadn't seen it done, so when I tried it, I wasn't happy with the results. Now I know you have to go around and around alot of times to achieve this look. Fun card.

Raisin Boat Beauty

I was gone all weekend and even though most of the time I was stamping, I will not have any original cards to share this week. But don't despair- I will still be sharing some very neat cards that I took pictures of or made. I was at the Madison Mingle, an annual gathering of stampers who each bring a shoebox with all the supplies to make a card they designed. I had a great time stamping and laughing and sharing with fellow stampers.

This card was a sample shown by Raisin Boat during their demo on brayering color onto cards. Isn't it beautiful?

Hambo Sketch Challenge

Love Hambo's funny stamps! I played along with Hambo's sketch this month again and used a digital stamp I won from last month's challenge. This is the first time I have used digital stamps and still can't figure out how to size them on my computer, but the penguin still turned out cute. I used the same patterned paper to paper piece the balloon and create the background and added some ric-rac at the top. Punch line is in the inside of the card so had to show that as well as the candle punched border.

TESC109 Sketch Challenge

The Taylored Expressions sketch this week was a fun one and I decided to use my collection of Penny Black stickers to complete it. Also used a sticker for the sentiment. So easy to make- I have to stop hoarding them and use them more often!

C4C34 Sketch Challenge

This card was designed using the sketch from Crazy 4 Challenges this week. I created a ribbon frame again and used stamps from Hero Arts and the center stamp and papers from Memory Box.

TGIF! Sharing a cute page today of Nate's first bandaid. Stamped and cut out the animals to match the animal print on the bandaids. Enjoy!

Kitchen Sink Stamps Square Challenge

The challenge this month at Kitchen Sink Stamps was to make a card using as many squares as possible. This card is square as is the white cuttlebugged background piece, as are the burgandy and white center pieces (both with rounded corners, but still square.) The ribbon frame also creates a square so this card should definitely qualify. I used KSS rose stamp for the focal point. There are four layers on the rose in different shades of pink, red and burgandy to get that look, as well as 3 greens on the leaf. Isn't that beautiful? I am not an artist and not good at all at coloring, but anyone can stamp a gorgeous rose with this set! The sentiment is also from KSS and I added a border (SU punch), some bridal flowers and clear gems colored with copic marker to complete the card.

CCEE Silhouette Stamp Challenge

This is my favorite card that I have created in the past few weeks and it uses my favorite stamp from the Raisin Boat set I showed you recently. Is't that tree beautiful? The challenge this week at CCEE was to use a silhouette stamp and I love doing that on patterned paper.

I had a request to share the instructions on how to make the circular frames with punches. If you can still find it, I did have an article with pictures printed in January 2010 Scrap and Stamp Arts magazine on this technique.

I used Card Creator Corner Punches by EK Success to make the circle frames and it is vital that you have the right kind of punches or this won't work. They are the kind that you can create a corner to slide in a picture or another piece of paper.

To make the circle frames, first cut out a large circle of light weight printer paper (I used the largest circle in the Nestabilities circle set so it was about 3 1/2" diameter.)

Fold the circle in half, in half again and then each of those pieces in half again so you have 8 equal triangles. Draw over those lines with dark pen or marker. You will keep this for your template.

Decide on the cardstock you want to use for your circle frame. Cut with same large circle Nestabilities die you used for template.

On the back of that cardstock circle, draw lines so you have again the 8 equal triangles (like a cut pie.) Take the outside piece off the corner punch. Turn the punch upside down and push the corner punch equally between two lines as far as it will go and punch. Repeat for each triangle trying to center each punch evenly between the lines. When done, snip between the punches and remove the center leaving the circular punched frame.

Reposting TESC108

I posted this card yesterday for the sketch challenge at Taylored Expressions. Before I went to work I got my email update that showed the card. Now it isn't there?? Weird.. So am trying again.

If you couldn't see it before, hope this works now. The stamps are Raisin Boat - Don't Get your Undies in a Bundle..

Stamptacular Sunday Challenge

The challenge this week at Stamptacular Sunday was to use atleast two dotted patterned papers in our cards. I used them in the background paper and also in the flower. And the stamp has dots too. I had this set for awhile and kept wondering what to do with it. Then I saw a card in CardMaker magazine this month that used it as a floral stem and decided to borrow that idea. The layered flowers are so easy to make with our nesties - I sponged the edges and added a yellow button with yellow floss for the center.

My Favorite New Raisin Boat Set

I loved this set from Raisin Boat so much that I had to buy for my very own (rather than return it to them as the end of my rental month.) I will be showing another card from the Asian Serenity set later this week. I stamped the floral branch twice, once with green ink and once with pink ind, cut out the blossoms and attached. The frame is another one punched for my Madison demo. The border punch is from SU.

If you want to rent or consider buying this or any other set from Raisin Boat, go to www.raisinboat.com.

Scrapbook Friday

You know that song from Sesame Street- "One of these things is not like the others" - something like that? Of these pix of a particular cute kid, (and one Daddy making a funny face) which one doesn't fit? Love the Elton John look:)

Shabby Tea Room Challenge

The challenge from Shabby Tea Room this week was to use only white and one other color in our cards this week. I created a circle sponging with pink ink, then stamped the flower (Raisin Boat Stamps) in that circle. Used Scor-pal to create lines for a frame and sponged the edged. Added saying and ribbon and attached to white embossed background piece on pink card.

TESC107 Sketch Challenge

I love this card- so fun! I used this week's sketch from Taylored Expressions and all the paper is from them as well. TE has monthly paper kits you can sign up for and the combinations of colors, patterned papers and accessories are awesome. The stamps are from another humorous set I recently purchased from Skipping Stones Design. Too fun!

Sketch Saturday with Raisin Boat

I loved this sketch from Sketch Saturday and how this card turned out with one of my rented sets from Raisin Boat this month. I like using solid stamps on patterned paper. Just cut out the focal image with a nestie, used my favorite cuttlebug folder on the white background, added ribbon, and another nestie for the label.

C4C Kraft Sympathy Card

The challenge this week from Crazy 4 Challenges was to use kraft paper in our cards. I made this sympathy card recently using the ribbon frame technique I am demoing at my stamp club this month and a beautiful DRS sympathy stamp. On kraft paper it is easy and effective to color with colored pencils. Layered on black and then on white card and added pearls in the corners.

Have a Dyno-mite Easter

Ok the title of this post is alittle cheesy, but I am out of Easter cards and had this fun one to post today. This card was made for the sketch challenge at my local stamp club and also as part of a demo there of how to make ribbon frames. In the other cards I made I used much lighter weight ribbon but tried this thicker ribbon and it turned out pretty cute. Cuttlebug background, paper pieced dinosaur and added some cute brads.

Going to my sisters for a lovely Easter visit- hope your holiday is lovely too.

More Handmade BD Cards

As promised, here are the rest of the handmade birthday cards I received this week. Can you guess which one is from my 3 year old grandson? I will give you a hint- the stamping is minimalistic but the love is great:) The rest are from Tammy, Ann and my daughter Marie (who used my favorite saying of all time.)

Thanks to everyone who made my birthday so nice. Stamping smiles and Happy Easter. Karen
