Video - Textured Sticky Sheet Embossing and Diecuts

I love discovering new ways to use crafty products and in my newest video here I am sharing a new variation of my Metallic or Hot Camo Technique with specialty embossing powders on scor-tape sheets. The result is a gorgeous textured look and since there is no camo pattern, I am calling it Textured Sticky Sheet Embossing.

Just look at those butterflies with that glorious mix of texture and color! This is the card I show how to make in the video and the butterflies were made with dies from Tim Holtz and Sizzix cut out of Scor-tape sticky sheets. I dumped on Aged Teal and Aged Gold Embossing Enamels from Stampendous and Seth Apter's Deep Sea Embossing Powder and then melted them with my heat gun. The butterfly stencil in the background is from Visible Image and Soar is a favorite die from Quietfire Design.

I am loving the Slimline cards (that fit into a legal size envelope) but find taking good photos of them in my set up is not easy. Trust me - this card and the embossed textured bird is gorgeous and easier to see on the video here. I mixed Aged Copper Embossing Enamel from Stampendous and Seth Apter's Rustic Indigo and when that was melted, added some Steel Blue Chunky Glitter on top on both birds. The bigger bird is a die from Poppy Stamps and the little one from Impression Obsession. The stitched slimline die is from Whimsy Stamps and the "dear friend" sentiment is from Sue Wilson and Creative Expressions. 

**I am not crazy about the name of this technique I came up with (Textured Sticky Sheet Embossing), so if after watching the video you think of a better name for the technique, please share it with me in a comment on this video. Many RAK Winners and New Studio Katia Crafter's Companion Cards

March was my birthday month and I received the Crafter's Companion Appreciation Box from a dear friend so I got to open a new window and receive a new die every day.  I made two cards with many of the dies from that box and a Dotted Stitched Frame from Studio Katia which was perfect for displaying the different dies. This card was sent to my friend as a thank you.

More Pop Up Creatures Using Two Karen Burniston Surprise Pop-Up Balls

It's almost Easter and I wanted to make a special personalized Easter card for my grandson who I am missing so much! I think he will love it when he opens up the card and sees this pop ip:

In my newest video I share this double ball surprise pop up bunny card as well as 4 other versions. I am no good at figuring out punch art features of animals so I used an older bunny die set from Tonic Studios to create this bunny. The letters and sentiments are from Karen Burniston as well as the Surprise Ball Pop-Up die set that I used on all my creatures.

I am also missing my other grandson who is a teenager and loves Dungeons and Dragons, so I used some D&D art I found on line to create this Red Dragon pop up card for him. And I just watched Frozen 2 and wanted to create an Olaf for a special girl and once again, searched the internet for images I could print and use:

These cards take a little longer to make but are well worth the effort when someone special gets a smile as they open them up and the double ball critter pops up to surprise them. To see how easy it is to create with this KB die set and all my double balled creatures, watch the video here. 

Bonus Video - Double The Fun With 2 Karen Burniston Surprise Pop-Up Balls

Interactive cards are so fun to make and send to kids of all ages and my new favorite die to make them with is Karen Burniston's Surprise Ball Pop-up Set. I was inspired by Karen and her dt to try some double ball critters and I share 5 different ones in my newest video.

This is the front of the card I make in the video. But just look at what pops up when it is opened:

Isn't this puppy sweet? You really want to see the effect of him popping up when the card is opened in the video here. I am no good at creating features of an animal myself so did a search and purchased a set of 4 animals punch art instructions from Lynn Pratt here. It was well worth every penny not to have to try to figure out this myself and he turned out very cute. I also made a lizard and learned how to do that following the brilliant instructions from Karen Burniston on her video here.

The lizard is pulled out of the front envelope and pops up - still pictures do these creatures no justice, so be sure to watch the video and see how they pop up and how easy they are to make. 

More Spotlighted Masculine Scenery Cards From My Newest Video You Could Win!

I am loving the slimline size card that is trending right now and the 12 x 12 designer paper I was using to make my spotlighted scenes in my newest video is perfect for this size cards. "On your day" is a die from Tonic Studios and you can see it on the inside too with this technique:

 This is the other half of that same sheet of paper and "today" is cut out and appears on the inside too where I added "enjoy". Here is another example of an eclipse version of this spotlight technique:

My brother who worked in conservation all his life is going to love this card. The letters are from a set by Kat Scrappiness and the sentiment die is from Karen Burniston. 

Of course you can choose any size or shape of die to highlight an image on your scenery dp. This shape from Crealies seemed perfect for this cabin and the birds are from Sizzix. 

I had so much fun making these masculine spotlighted cards for my newest video and am going to send most of them out to brighten someone's day. Video - Spotlighted Masculine Scenery Cards You Could Win

I love to revisit older techniques and update them with current supplies and dies to make them even better than the ones I made years ago. That is what I am showing in my newest video which features an easy way to create unique scenery cards perfect for the guys in your life. Years ago a local instructor taught us how to make scenery cards with designer paper and a shaped die that spotlighted part of the scene. This is the card I make in the video:

The highlighted tree scene is die cut out of the front with a double stitched oval die from Kat Scrappiness and attached in the center of the card after sponging the sides. That oval scene shows on both the front and the inside of card as shown here:

 Hello is a scripty word die from Tonic Studios and the birds are from Sizzix. Below is another square spotlighted scene card I made with a favorite sentiment die from Sue Wilson and dotted square dies from Crealies: 

Here is one more spotlighted scene card this time with My Favorite Things rounded stitched square dies and birds from Impression Obsession. Here is a picture of the inside of this card:

I think the stitching on all the shaped dies makes these cards so much more pleasing to the eye and we did not have those dies years ago. Cards 4 Moms (From the Kids) at Send a Smile 4 Kids

It’s the first Saturday of a new month and time for another fun challenge at Send a Smile 4 Kids! Again this year, all challenges at SAS4Kids are Anything Goes 4 Kids! We will often have an alternative theme that you can choose to follow, but are not required to. Create and link any card that is appropriate for a child and your card could be chosen as one of our top three cards and you could join us as a guest dt member on a future challenge. We are also continuing as a monthly challenge so new challenges will be posted on the first Saturday of every month and you will have a whole month to make and link your cards.

The theme for this challenge is: Cards 4 Moms (From the Kids.) Typically we look for cards the kids can give their Moms and Dads this time of year. However, be sure to check the current needs page before sending any cards and stay safe and healthy. 

I created the front of my card for a Mom with a glittered embossed bird from Poppy Stamps and dies from Tonic Studios and Cheery Lynn along with a stencil. The bird (Stampendous) on the inside spins around on a string and I added some die cuts from Karen Burniston and Impression Obsession.
