Fabulous Folded Cake Box Cards and Video

Who doesn't love birthday cakes? We all do and in my newest video here I show how to make this floral stand up birthday card and many others with the newest Fabulous Folded die set from Paper Wishes. As I show in the video, these cake box cards can stand up as shown and then lay flat to mail. But I show step by step how the cake box can also be attached inside and card and pop up when the card is opened and here is the card I made:

The Cake Box Die Set includes many flower dies, the candle and the tag as shown in the inside of this card and the first card above. On the front of this card I used stitched flower dies from My Favorite Things and a birthday sentiment die from Karen Burniston. Here is another card I made with the cake popping up inside the card:

I made this cake box card for my grandson who loves dinosaurs with dino stickers from Pipstickers and a fun die from Whimsy Stamps.

The shaker sailboat on this card is a shaker kit from Kat Scrappiness and is filled with confetti from This Calls For Confetti packages named "Nancy Loves the Beach" and Turquoise. After I finished my video making this card with a stencil from Hero Arts called Sea and Sky and a "Happy Summer" die cut from Dies...to Die For, I decided to add some more confetti to decorate the sailboat's flag and flagpole. The Easiest Way to Make a Shaker Card and New Confetti Company and New Video!

Happy Summer everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend! I am posting this week's video on Tuesday instead of my usual Monday because of the 4th of July yesterday, and also because the card I made in the new video is part of a Summer Shaker Instagram Hop on Thursday (more details on that will be posted Thursday.) 

I have discovered the easiest way ever to make dimensional shaker cards and I show how in my newest video here.  Kat Scrappiness has Shaker Dimension Kits that include everything you need to make a cute shaker card and there are many choices of shapes to choose from. I chose the fish kit to make this adorable card. The confetti shaking around in the fish is from a new company called This Calls For Confetti, and they are the sponsor of the IG Hop Thursday. I stenciled the background of this card with a stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called Sea Foam and added a cute sentiment from Poppystamps. 

I loved the butterfly shaker kit from Kat Scrappiness and made two cards with it. This one features a stencil (inked in two different colors) from Kat Scrappiness called Falling Starlights and the butterfly shaker pieces are also from KS. Here is a picture of this card all shook up:

This butterfly shaker card is a sneak peak of next week's video in which I am playing with patterned acetate sheets from Paper Wishes. I created the whole card from acetate with foiled butterflies and added a confetti mix from This Calls for Confetti called Celebrate. Here is another view of the shaker on this card close up:

Christmas In July Challenge at Send a Smile 4 Kids

It’s the first Saturday of a new month and time for another fun challenge at Send a Smile 4 Kids! The theme for this challenge is Christmas in July 4 Kids, but you can choose to participate in our challenge with any card appropriate for a child.

My card is a tri-fold made so easy and so cute with a die from Paper Wishes and layered Easy 3D Toppers from Hearty Crafts. The sentiment die is from Karen Burniston.

Easy Iris Folding with Almost Any Open Shape Die You Own

In my newest video I share many tips for easy iris folding and inexpensive sources for the thin paper needed and show how to make this card. While researching different ways to do iris folding,  I found some inexpensive plastic templates at Paper Wishes that can be used with any open die or the shape templates provided. All I did was cut the star with a die from Dies...to Die For out of gorgeous patterned mirri card from Hunkydory, turn the piece of and attach to the template. I cut strips of wrapping paper from the Dollar Store one inch wide, folded in half and taped in place. As I show in the new video, it is so easy and fun and the result is awesome. Here is another card I made that way with an open stitched butterfly die:

I embossed the card front with an embossing folder from Paper Roses but wished I had done that before the iris folding because it squished the folds down making them not as dimensional. 

On this slimline card, I simply used two square dies to create a birthday cake opening and then used the Pentagon Iris Folding Template to add the iris folding pattern with Dollar Store wrapping paper. Here is an example that shows you don't even need templates or patterns to add iris folding interest to a card:

All the dies on this card are from Dies...to Die For and I am going to give it to the host of a 4th of July party I am going to.

Easy Iris Folding and Mirri Card - What a Combo!

I have always wanted to learn how to do iris folding on my cards but hesitated because it looked too difficult and time consuming. Guess what - it's not if you have the right tools and tips as I share in my newest video here. I decided to try iris folding after watching a Webisode at Paper Wishes featuring special dies from Hunkydory with iris folding templates to match. Here is the first card I made easily with the hummingbird die:

Isn't that lovely? All the cards in the new video also feature Hunkydory patterned mirri card that I also found at Paper Wishes here and I added a sentiment cut with a die from Karen Burniston. Here is another card I made so easily with another die and iris folding template from Hunkydory and Paper Wishes:

I love how this card turned out and decided to wait until sending to add a sentiment so I could use it for a thank you, thinking of you, birthday or any special day for a special person.

Altenew June Inspiration Challenge Card With Gilders Paste Wax

I have been playing with Gilder's Paste Wax for an upcoming video and noticed the Rust color was very similar to the rusty orange on this photo for the June 2022 Altenew challenge I have been thinking of creating a card for. I pulled out a beloved Altenew Layered Floral Die Set and created this card: 

I cut Cover Die B out of white cardstock and covered it with Rust Gilders Paste Wax. Layer A was cut out of a pink cardstock and I paper pieced in the leaves with green following the color prompts in the challenge picture. I added texture to the white cardbase with Altenew's Dotted Starburst Debossing Cover Die. The punched butterflies are also embossed with Rust Gilders Paste Wax on them for highlights.
